I still need to travel so the least i can do is be careful, wash my hands. I went through tsa and didnt have any physical contact with anyone so i am aware of that. And this is my new way to say hi. Here is where things stand according to grand princess, the update theyre giving us, more than 1,400 people have been taken off the ship since monday. Folks with medical conditions were taken off first. The u. S. Passengers will be quarantined for 14 days at military bases across the country. We just showed you one here in california. Also will be taken to bases in georgia and texas. As far as foreigners go, theyll be flown home or will get treatment from their country. We do know at least more than 20 people on that ship tested positive for the virus that was carrying more than 3,000 passengers. Now 19 of those folks that tested positive were crew members. I do want to point out they will remain quarantined and treated onboard and will dock elsewhere once passengers are taken off the ship. Its a frustrating and anxious time. One passenger still on the ship had this to say. And because theres movement, youre anticipating getting your name called kind of a thing. Reporter the california governor said passengers are being quarantined in monterey county, burlingame and san carlos. They are safe and secure and are for folks who dont need to go to a hospital. Stanford university now taking its coronavirus related ban on inperson classes even further extending it out into the spring quarter. University leaders made that announcement yesterday urging all campus related groups to cancel or adjust their large scale events switching to remote online instruction. Stanford is offering this unusual deal for students. If they move away from oncampus housing and take their courses remotely, their room and board will be prorated. More schools are following suit and closing classrooms due to the coronavirus. Starting today cal state east bay, Mission College and uc santa cruz will suspend inperson classes at least until the end of the month. Plus, San Franciscos archdiocese is temporarily closing schools for the next two weeks. This will affect 90 schools from up in the north bay through the peninsula. So before we get to weather and traffic, the latest of the number of confirmed cases, there are more than 1,000 cases and 30 deaths but if you look at the map on your screen you can see how many there are here at home in the bay area. 90 confirmed cases in total. Santa clara county with the most and it is the only county with a bay area death. In the port of oakland hundreds on the grand princess are still waiting to disembark and head into quarantine. Alameda and Contra Costa County, of the ten cases confirmed in Contra Costa County at least six are believed to come from community spread. North bay fire victims to have First Priority when the wildfire agreement becomes finalized. Fema filed a claim to be included in the fund tied to pg es bankruptcy settlement. Any final deals still need approval from the bankruptcy judge. So the city of berkeley is breaking down barriers to help people make it in the bay. City councilmembers voted to ban landlords from asking potential renters if they have a criminal history and conduct a background check. Members say this will help former incarcerated people find Affordable Housing. Landlords, though, will still be able to check references, employment and income status. He was onboard the diamond princess when passengers were quarantined in february. He got to Travis Air Force base and tested positive for the virus. After treatment hes now home. He says he never had symptoms but test results are keeping him inside. Ive been tested many times and need to be tested negative twice in a row snored for me to be a free man. The Public Health says its currently sending wrights test to the cdc lab in atlanta but will soon begin using local laps. Two weeks ago President Trump announced his Coronavirus Task force. Scott mcgrew, that Task Force Updates us every afternoon. The latest from the task force has convinced Health Insurers to waive the cost of coronavirus testing. People with insurance will be able to get those tests for free if those tests are requested by a doctor. There are 1,000 americans with coronavirus. 30 are dead. And, again, when you have 15 people and 15 within a couple days is going to be down to close to zero. Thats a pretty good job weve done. Again, its now 1,000. President trump has been very hopeful, as we all have, that the situation is going to get better. Hes saying the disease will go away like a miracle. Here he is at the capitol on tuesday. Doctors reporting not only are there not enough respirators, some people with certain comorbidity factors not being treated at all much less being put on respirators. A federal Appeals Court has ruled the house of representatives can see the evidence gathered by the mueller grand jury. In criminal case that is wouldnt fly. Impeachment is not a criminal case. The Gilroy Police officers who shot the gilroy garlic festival shooters were lawful and justified in doing so, the decision by the Santa Clara County district attorneys office. Three officers confronted the 19yearold less than a minute after he opened fire on festival goers. Officers shot him several times but after he was wounded the gunman shot and killed himself. Two children and a man were killed in the shooting. New details this morning, the city of sacramento is agreeing to pay more than half a million to settle a lawsuit filed by protesters detained in the Stephon Clark shooting, that it includes more than 80 people including three reporters. So were seeing still a rain chance in the forecast for the south bay through 8 00 and going into the rest of the Day Rain Chances will go down but the chance we could see one lone isolated shower moving through and then drying out for the rest of the week. Then a couple more storm systems and well bring in some waves of rain and some sierra snow. For us were looking at finally some measurable rain with the potential of half to threequarters of an inch of rain in santa rosa. Our sevenday forecast keeps it very warm and springlike from today through thursday as well as friday. Then were back to winter with off and on showers in the forecast from saturday, sunday as well as monday. This may taper off to light snow in our bay area peaks. Well be watching that.
