I know you live in the south bay as well. Reporter i do live in the south bay, and if you could feel it at my house, i did not because i slept right through it. I didnt feel the dog wake up or anything. Perhaps you could feel it in san jose but i was way too sleepy. We always check in with our folks at the Grocery Stores because they have the most obvious evidence of damage in an earthquake even when its a light one. And the night manager here at the Safeway Store on eastbound in morgan hill said they felt a jolt but nothing fell from the shelves. They didnt even see the signs swinging in the distance. What it looked like on the seismograph, registered 3. 9. It was about 11 16 last night. And thats why a lot of folks maybe didnt feel it because they were sleeping. We did get some phone calls into the newsroom and some contacts through our social media platforms from folks saying, yeah, that was a quake and i felt it. Our colleague robert handa said he felt it. He was reminded to put some shoes by the bedside in case this was not the actual quake. If it was just a preshock. So he was ready to go. And that is the advice for all of us, make sure we are earthquake ready by keeping shoes by the bedside, making sure we have a flashlight near the bedside as well, keeping the car gassed up at least threequarters of a tank and cash money on hand. If the power goes out in a big quake we wont have access to atms for will we be able to pump gas at a gas station. Also, make sure you have your 72hour go bag ready to go with food, water and medications. Food for the dog as well. I have a whole list of things you can put in your go bag on my twitter feed. If youre out and about and feel a quake, drop, cover, and hold on. Anything to protect your head. If you are in bed, put a pill lowell over your head and move away from anything that might follow on top of you. If there is glass on the floor, make sure you have the shoes ready to go so when you step out of bed you have a way to get away without hurting yourself. We have been hearing from folks on social media saying i did feel it. No one is reporting any damage, any picture frames falling off the walls or anything. It was a light one but still very powerful reminder to be ready. Kris sanchez, today in the bay. Thank you, kris.
