Well talk about our stanford professor pam karlan there. She have to go on damage control here because shh did apologize in the hearing as well. It wasnt a very bright move. It was an truck comparison she was trying to make. It fell flat. Youre never supposed to bring up the president s children. Of course not. For any president. But if you look at these people today, it was so fascinating the way each of them had their own thing to talk about. Karlan, for example, is talking about the deluded vote because how crane might interfere with the election, our vote might not be the same. Noah feldman. Feldman was talking about things like what do we do about separation of powers. The president walking all over the legislative branch. And then you had gearhart, and Michael Gearhart talking about national serity, how if we dont geat ukraine, ukraine United States is jeopardized. Even jonathan turley. The republican professor. He is not a republican. He is a democrat, but onehothe , its not that impeachment is bad, i dont think enough has been yet done to make it high enough to be an issue. Larry, whats different about todays hearing versus the Intelligence Committee hearing a couple of weeks ago . What makes it different . Fair question. That was riveting, right . Because we saw all these people who were players, diplomats, political people, the folks who knew what was going on who talked about what was going on and really made the case. They made the case, which gets us to the judiciary committee. No longer are we really arguing about that. Yes, some republicans were, but in fact the facts have been determined. We know about the president s phone call. We know about what happened with ukraine. We know it didnt happen, but what might have happened, all that stuff. So today were talking about the constitutional issues. What does it mean . High crimes and misdemeanors. How do we define it . The forefathers, some people say oh my god, its time for a break. But in fact this is fundamental. Its fundamental in determining whether they have something to go by. So it was a critical step along not, its not up to lawmakers. The deeper dive, its up to us, the people in the republic here. So really, was this todays ceremony or hearing for the public to view here . To then pressure their lawmakers . Every one of these things at the end of the day is for the public. Theyre all jostling, theyre all trying to make their case, democrats and republicans. Theyre saying what they need to say for each other. But more importantly, for the folks back home who wind up electing them or chasing them away. Thats the fundamental thing. Thats why this stuff is so drawn out. But let me tell you before we go. One important thing that slipped out today, the name robert mueller. His name came up more than a half a dozen times, mostly by democrats. And you kind of wonder if downstream this whole idea about mueller being concerned about the president hurting power, and whether that hole stuff may be brought back into as one of the impeachable charges. This whole idea of obstruction of justice. Ten times it was mentioned in muellers report. Will it come back as part of the impeachment articles . Thats to me is something interesting. Very good insight. All right, larry, thank you. Former president jimmy carter is out of the hospital.
