Some of them say that the gun fire woke them up and later they learned the absolutely terrible news that the two people who were shot were just 11 and 14 years old. And Union City Police say the two were confronted by someone who opened fire. Last night about 1 27, i woke up to gun shots. There was probably 15 to 20. A neighbor near Sherman Drive says gun fire rocked him out of his sleep. Then he heard sirens and police in the street. They were barricading the road off. I lived here 35 years. No, this is a quiet neighborhood. Police say an 11 and 14yearold boy were sitting in a van in a parking lot when they were confronted. There were several gun shots. We are confident that the incident that there were no other areas involved. Reporter both victims died. People gathered in the parking lot to remember the victims today but did not want to talk. Police say they are looking for a motive but have not ruled out the possibility it was gang related. Its especially close to home. I have a teenage daughter and she had ans to know. Heads up if youre heading in or out of the city this weekend. There will be a few lanes that are going to be closed on the bay bridge. Cal trans is closing three lanes in both directions from 11 00 tonight through 9 00 tomorrow morning for maintenance. Then just before midnight tomorrow through 5 00 a. M. On monday, two eastbound lanes will close. Cal trans says it plans to keep at least two lanes in each direction open at all times. High surf along the Northern California coast. Business owners in the south bay are trying to figure out whats next after an Early Morning fire ripped through a small san jose strip mall. Reporter right now you can see that crews are working to board up three businesses damaged by fire, a pizza parlor, a dry cleaners. The two alarm fire started shortly before 5 00 this morning on hills dale avenue. Fire crews out here all seven units of the strip mall received fire or smoke damage. One Business Owner says someone had recently tried to set a fire at the strip mall two different times. A few days ago we had someone try to break in through the back of the business. They tried to use fire. Police came out and started investigating. They came back. Fortunately, no one was hurt. Because the fire was at a dry cleaning business, a Hazardous Material team was called in, but no chemical release was detected. No cause has been determined. All seven of these businesses were closed today and the owner of the dry cleaners tells me after 30 years it looks like his business is a total loss.
