Reporter well, 2. 5 billion is the biggest corporate contribution toward Affordable Housing to this point and about a fifth of that is earmarked specifically for Silicon Valley and san jose. Here is how apple is divvying up the 2. 5 billion pie. 1 billion into an Affordable House Investment Fund available to the state of california and other developers to build low to moderate Income Housing. 1 billion will fund a down Payment Assistance Loan Program for firsttime buyers, especially Service Personnel and School Employees and veterans. The bay area will benefit from 300 million in appleowned property in the city of san jose made available for the construction of Affordable Housing and the 150 million which apple will put toward the existing bay area Housing Trust Silicon Valley which has a decades old housing fund and 50 million to support vulnerable populations through destination homes. The reaction is far is mixed with skeptics saying this is not an Affordable Housing program, this is a mortgage assistance to help folks buy property they cant afford to own in an area of the country they cant afford to live. Apple is not guilty of being benevolent, apple wants the tax benefits. But others are more supportive. Given the whole that the state of california is in with housing and the number of homes necessary, it will take everybody to step up and everybody to do new things to address this crisis. Now to fremont, a care for homeowners as firefighters put out a brush fire this morning. It began before 6 00 on hunter lane. This is east of mission boulevard. That burned less than one acre. Firefighters got to it before any nearby homes were damaged and said that someone should take precaution around homes to alleviate much too much brush fire and helping prevent any fire from spreading quickly. Only a few hundred homes remain threatened by the kincade fire as firefighters over the weekend made more headway. As of last night it was 80 contained. Full containment is expected on thursday. The fires burned just under 78,000 acres, 374 buildings have been destroyed including 174 homes.
