Trump is so furious about the impeachment. Today he went on a twitter rant and wrote, a total scam by the do nothing democrats for the good of the country this wirch hunt should end now. Trump was like, love it, but you spelled president wrong. Its with two zs. [ light laughter ] trump is now hiring more lawyers to fight impeachment including former congressman trey gowdy can we see trey gowdy . Yeah well, now we know what happened to draco malfoy. [ laughter ] not only is trump lashing out, hes now demanding an apology from everyone involved in the impeachmt. Then women, minorities, the disabled, mexico, and puerto rico were like, you first. [ laughter ] meanwhile, after trump pulled troops from syria today, turkey launched an attack against u. S. Allies while a reporter on msnbc tried explaining the situation, when she had an unexpected visitor. Take a look. We know that turkey wants to establish what they call a safe zone along the border. Even as a kid . Never did no, when i was a kid i hated it even more than i do now, because as a kid, i just remember, like, the pressure of having a Birthday Party, which i never had, because i was too nervous about who i would choose which friend i would choose to sit next to me and i didnt want to have to be in the position of ranking my friends like that. So i just opted to never have a Birthday Party jimmy oh my gosh i was so nervous. I didnt want to hurt anybodys feelings jimmy but what about family did family did you have parties with family. No. I sequestered myself in the room and said, i dont want to have to choose which one of you i like the most. I think they knew, but i didnt want to have to explicably say it [ laughter ] jimmy but did dude we talked once. You said your mom was a clown at kids parties. This is the great irony of my life. My mom was a birthday [ laughter ] the shoemakers son goes shoeless the Birthday Party clowns kid goes birthdayless i know jimmy oh my. Did she never entertained at your parties no, she didnt entertain, you know, because of nepotism. [ laughter ] but but, so she would one time, i did have one Birthday Party. She used to barter with the local magician she said, okay, if you do my sons Birthday Party, ill perform at your kids Birthday Party. And so i had one Birthday Party, and luckily, you dont have to choose where anybody sits cause its a magic you know, its a magic show. Jimmy yes. So you all just sit in a clump, so thats easy. [ light laughter ] but, you know because it was my birthday, he chose me to be like his sexy assistant. You know what i mean [ laughter ] i had to come up and be sawed in half, or pull the thing out of the hat, or whatever theyre doing. And, i hated that too, because then youre getting the attention for that, and then my friends know im better than them on that day [ laughter ] jimmy yeah, yeah you dont want that, you dont want that at all but, now halloween is coming up, and i can just assume you dont appreciate that. Yeah, also didnt like that holiday. Jimmy no, no, no, no probably not [ laughter ] what would you do on halloween would you halloween, i just jimmy you just didnt like the idea of getting candy . I hated the idea of getting candy, i hated the idea of trick or treating. I always just thought it was like, the least efficient way to get food, you know. [ laughter ] you know, there were hunters, you know, thousands and thousands of years ago who got food more quickly than i did going door to door getting, you know, fun sized snickers bars. Its just i didnt like doing it and, you know, im a manic person so that kind of thing, this plotting thing of going door to door to get something thats tiny is jimmy i asked you to see if you can [ light laughter ] [ laughter ] i asked you if you could give us a photo, or ask your mom for a photo of you in one of your Halloween Costumes thats right. I asked my mom i said, im going on Jimmy Fallons show she loves you, by the way. I dont know if youve ever been told that somebodys mother loves you, but my mom loves you. [ laughter ] jimmy well, thank you. I love that, i love that i imagine thats like you must feel but anyway jimmy i love hearing that. Oh yeah a suburban women in new jersey love me . But anyway jimmy she caack, s gave us a photo of one of your Halloween Costumes yeah. Jimmy can you explain, what are you dressed as [ laughter ] what is yeah jimmy doesnt look like much of a costume. Also, the van should tell you everything you need to know about my childhood jimmy yeah but, yes, i guess this was my most elaborate halloween costume, according to my mother which is, like, a dickensian hat, and a basketball dethreaded basketball, i guess. You know, what is the basketball where it no longer has the dots on it thats the one i had but, yeah. No grip. Jimmy that was your that was your costume . That was my costume jimmy pretty good. Well we didnt wait, we were trying to do the movie right after the first one, cause the first one was so popular and then we just couldnt, like, couldnt, like we just waited for like, the best script in the meantime, the two writers, rhett reese and paul wernick did deadpool, and then we were kind of waiting for them to finish that so they can, like, write this. And we were all waiting, you know, me, woody harrelson, emma stone, abigail berslin, were all waiting for, like, the best script and it finally came in. Why are you laughing because i named the characters jimmy no, im laughing because they went on to probably write deadpool 2 as well yeah, they did that [ laughter ] jimmy yeah, and waiting for your writing your script. Yeah yeah, yeah. No, i meant it as a Series Deadpool t series. Jimmy oh, yeah exactly yeah yeah, theyre jimmy theyre really funny writers. But you came in is it fun we love woody and emma and abigail. Yeah, sure. Jimmy is it fun working with those guys . Oh yeah, theyre amazing. Yeah, i mean, yeah you only realize in retrospect how great they are, because, you know, you have other experiences that are not as amazing, and its just like the ideal collaboration. Jimmy do you like doing comedy more than drama do you care . Do you like both i like it, although every time i do a comedy, i remember how difficult it is for only one reason which is that its like, you usually have some amazing comic performer that well, you know also from being on snl. Jimmy yeah you would famously laugh and stuff which was funny as well. But like, no, you were great no, i mean, it was hysterical to watch it was like jimmy no, i mean, i didnt do it on purpose i didnt wanna laugh no, of course not i know, but i mean no, no, no, i mean jimmy other people have. Yeah, of course, yeah jimmy yeah, but i dont do it for i dont do it nor did i i would screw up, but like in zombieland, like youre you know, like, theres this great actress, zoey deutch in this jimmy yes. Everything she did was so unbelievably funny that its like impossible to keep a straight face. Jimmy i had the worst time on snl. I couldnt stop. Right, its difficult jimmy i was just out of my league, and i didnt know what i was doing. Whats going on jimmy will ferrell, now i feel bad about myself. What are you talking about . [ laughter ] youre a genius and you have the tonight show. You have the most storied talk show in history. Jimmy i dont even think im gonna celebrate halloween this year. Right yeah, so zombieland takes place in zombieland 10 years later, and characters, you know, moved into the white house, and they kind of are all annoyed by each other. Jimmy theyre all good all right jimmy first rumor, youve been working on new music . This is true. Jimmy really yes [ cheers and applause jimmy i love your stuff. Thank you so much yes, ive been working ive been working on a lot of music for a long time, and my fans are very aware of that and theyve been so patient, which im so thankful for because ive had some really wonderful opportunities that have kind of taken me away from the music for periods of time. But i can say that early next year, new music will be out. Jimmy early next year. All right, good. [ cheers and applause good, good, good i love that. Jimmy second rumor yes jimmy is it true you set up Sophie Turner and joe jonas . No. Are they saying that i will totallyakcrit for that if theyre saying it. Sophie and i have been friends for years. Shes one of my favorite humans, and joe, same. Joe and i worked together a couple years ago, and he is also a wonderful person. She called me and she was like this is i dont remember when, but she called and said because she knew that i knew him and sort of asked for my opinion jimmy yeah i gher e truth. Jimmy yeah i wont tell i wont say everything i said to her [ laughter ] jimmy yeah, yeah all right. Good no, i gave her my stamp of approval jimmy and now theyre married. This is on apple tv plus this is the debut of apple tv plus yes, it is. Jimmy november first november first, this show jimmy its the whole thing its brand new its changing the game the whole thing is coming i know im very excited its been so wonderful to see it all sort of come together, and its actually, finally, been happening jimmy how is it working with apple do you like that oh, yeah. Its really incredible they are i mean, apple. Jimmy yeah, i know theyre special jimmy theyre pretty big but can you answer me this. Is it like netflix where like, do you get all the episodes at once or so, in our case, you will be able to get all 10 episodes of dickinson on november first, when the Platform Launches jimmy wow. Which is very exciting. And its in my opinion, very easy to binge this show. So, very excited about that. Jimmy binge worthy yeah very binge worthy i think jimmy and you were at the big event that they have like, in cupertino, or whatever. Yes yeah jimmy with like it was you, it was, uh Jennifer Aniston Jennifer Aniston. Jimmy oprah. Oprah was there jimmy come on. Look at the picture of you and oprah. Photo evidence, people. I had met her previously before and, of course, saw her there. Jimmy yeah and debated, you know, of course, saying hello but then a million reasons not to do that came into my brain. So, i didnt but then, before i knew it, oprah sort of tapped me on the shoulder and said, hailee, its so great to see you. And i forgot every word in the english language [ laughter ] i had no idea what to do with my hands i was just then she asked for a photo. And i dont think ive ever looked happier in a photo in my life [ laughter ] jimmy you really are yeah, you were having great time there, yeah thats very good [ laughter ] oh, god jimmy lets talk about producing yes jimmy dickinson. Youre producing dickinson . Yes, i am jimmy why . Why did you produce it well yeah. This is my first time executive producing a project jimmy do you like doing it yeah, i do. Its a its a its a a different process. Jimmy yeah but but really incredible to be a part of something that i do care so much about, and so moved by just being a part of, you know, certain Decision Making processes, and see something really come together from the beginning, middle, to the end. Jimmy were you a fan of Emily Dickinson before this . Or i knew of her poetry having read some of it in high school jimmy yeah but i didnt know much about her. And im so thankful for having this show, and having had the opportunity to play her. Because she truly is quite an interesting human and i think the world will agree, hopefully, when they see the show jimmy its good. Its beautifully shot, and also, some good laughs in there too. Yes jimmy and wiz khalifa. Wiz khalifas in the show jimmy how how did that happen [ light laughter ] thats a great question jimmy yeah well, so, emily has you can pick this up after reading one poem shes got the most wild imagination. Jimmy yeah and she has this sort of fascination with death and the idea of death. And in our show, wiz khalifa plays the character of death, who emily is again fascinated and sort of in love with, in a a sense. And so we wanted basically the coolest person ever to play this character and jimmy yeah, and i wasnt available. With well, right jimmy and so [ laughter ] well, we went yeah, that was jimmy thank you, yeah. Yeah no. Yeah, no sure. But that was wiz jimmy yeah second to you, so. Yeah. My yeah [ laughter ] jimmy and how was hs wiz to work with he was great. Jimmy i love him hes wonderful. Best sense of humor. Always well, yeah hes always laughing, but i mean, i guess, we might know why. [ laughter ] jimmy yeah, usually when people are around him yeah, yeah. Jimmy yeah, yeah. [ cheers and applause hey jimmy welcome. Thats great. Jimmy welcome to the show. Thank you so much for being here thanks for having me. Its a pleasure. Jimmy im such a giant fan of yours i could go through all of you songs, but lets talk about welcome to the vault. Why now . Why this box set now well, you know, i had had to put all of my archives in a a database jimmy yeah and id been putting it off for 50 years youll find this out later, you know jimmy oh, really its like, remember that show you did . Stuff like that. So, my wife janice and i started like, creating this big database of stuff, and we started going through it and then, you know, people said, well, you ought to, you know jimmy put this thing on it put put something together, and we just started finding all these Different Things we found, like recordings with les paul and jimmy yeah tbone walker, and Television Shows from the 70s before the joker was a hit and started just finding all this fun stuff jimmy when you when you recorded the joker, did you know that was going to be a hit song absolutely not. No jimmy really no, i didnt have a clue. And i had finished the record. I did it in about 15 days. And the joker was just a song i had written that i liked you know and i was just doing whatever i wanted to do and i turned it into record company, and one of the kids in the room said, well, you know, i think that joker is really good tune. And i said, you know, listen. Im just starting a 60city tour just have the records in the towns where im playing, that will be enough. You know we left and went to florida. And 60 cities later, we got back and it was all number one all over the place and finally had a hit record a real one jimmy thats right you know . And so that was big breakthrough [ cheers and applause jimmy that was the one yeah, yeah. That started it off. Yeah jimmy that started it all. And you came up with the phrase, pompatus of love. Well, that was an old doowop song you know and its like, come closer, darling. I want to speak to you about the pompatus of love. Jimmy yeah except i think it was a a different term and i misunderstood it, so i made up the word pompatus. [ laughter ] jimmy wow. And the funny thing about that [ light laughter ] was for years after that, i would get letters from people going, steve, what does the pompatus of love mean . Jimmy yeah you know . And i had no answer. [ laughter ] jimmy i have no idea i dont know. I have no idea jimmy it just was something. Just the song you know jimmy yeah yeah. Jimmy putting this together, though, you must be i mean, all the great photos i love the guitar picks, by the way. Yeah. Jimmy i think thats a cool touch right there. Yeah. Oh, and theres a wait a minute theres a theres a a pass these are real passes. Jimmy oh, really not that. Jimmy yeah thats Something Else i cant. Its stuck yeah, all right. This one is this is from the world tour of 2012 jimmy hey, look at that. These are real backstage passes those are real ones left over, yeah jimmy they come with the thing. How rad. So theyre theyre in the boxes. So we put all sorts of little stuff in it to make it fun jimmy do you remember the early gigs do you do you like those ones when you were like in a a little band in high school, or yeah, i remember everything you know jimmy yeah its i can almost remember the weather you know. Its like, i love to play music and i remember when we first started out. When i started my first band i was 12 it was 1956 and there were no rock and roll bands. So, i had a friend in the seventh grade who had been taking drum lessons since he was five, and he was a great drummer. He was really a pro. You know jimmy yeah so, we had a good little band boz scaggs was in that band and jimmy boz scaggs was in the band yeah, yeah, yeah. So, we mimeographed a letter and sent it to all the sororities and fraternities at smu in dallas, and all the synagogues and churches and country clubs and any place that had live music, which was all over dallas. And so we had a rock band, but we didnt tell them how old we were [ laughter ] jimmy cause you didnt think theyd book you . Yeah. So, i had to go to bed at 10 00 at night cause i was 12 [ laughter ] jimmy if it wasnt but i was doing all this phone work you know jimmy yeah in about three weeks, i had the band booked for the entire school year. [ laughter ] and i was telling my mom, you dont understand i got a gig on friday night. [ laughter ] jimmy mom you have no idea im steve miller. So we started wearing rayban sunglasses, because we thought that made us look older. And we had these little seersucker suits jimmy oh, my god then, you know, we walk in. Were about 53, 54, you know, and show up. [ laughter ] but we played blues and we played rhythm and blues. Thats the music that i had grown up learning. Jimmy do you remember your first song that you could really jam out to . Well, yeah. Its the gangster of love. Jimmy that was it . I started that when i was 11 jimmy wow. It was frank james, jesse james, billy the kid and all the rest you know jimmy wow. So i was i was really lucky. You know, les pauls my godfather. Jimmy yeah, i didnt know this so jimmy les paul who is the yeah. Jimmy inventor of the electric guitar. So i met him the late 40s, and he was putting his act together with mary ford and they were staying in town and my dad was a hobbyist. He was a tape recorder nut, and he knew they were playing. He went over and said, can i record your shows . And they said, yeah. And then they came over to the house to listen to the recordings and then, they decided to get married so they got married at our house, and les became my godfather. So, i learned how to make records from les paul then and then later, we moved to texas when i was six and tbone walker, who was the bridge from blues to jazz jimmy sure he was the first guy to really play lead guitar, electric guitar. And you know, when b. B. King was a little kid, he used to listen to tbone walker records, and when freddie king was a little guy he used to listen to b. B. King. And when stevie ray vaughan, you know, was listening to freddie king and albert king and they all listened to each other. And tbone, when i was nine, he was at our house and he had to play the guitar behind me, and had me the splits. [ light laughter ] and jimmy thats the best lesson youll ever learn hes the most generous guy. Both he and les were really generous, sweet, great musicians. And you know, so i was really lucky. And as soon as i saw that, you know, i just went, thats what i want to do when i grow up. U know is i want to play mu i want to be a musician so i was real lucky. Jimmy do you remember out of all the gigs, was there one that just blew your mind where you like i cant believe were playing brazil or something, or oh, you know, theres well, i can one that comes to mind was we went to pink floyd called me up, and they said, listen, man were doing this festival in knebworth, and we really want you to come play. And i said, well, you know, i dont have a band right now. I really cant do it. And they said, no, no we really want you to come and play. And i just kept raising my price and saying, i cant do it. You know jimmy right. [ light laughter ] i cant. Jimmy theres no way i cant. And so finally, i had to do it because they said, okay. So, i called up boz and i borrowed his bass player and i called up Creedence Clearwater and i borrowed cosmo from creedence on the drums. And les dudek came over, and we rehearsed for a day in my living room and then we got on a plane and flew to london and when we got there they said, oh, this is a big festival, and theres going to be 60,000 people there. And i went, what . you know [ laughter ] and it turned out jimmy okay, we just we just met each other. It turned out there were 120,000 people there jimmy thats right and i had thought to myself, i know how this gigs gonna to go. You know, like when you open up for a big band like that, its usually like, hey, youre gonna hit the stage at 5 00. Right . Well, sun is setting, people are going to sleep jimmy yeah you know, theres no lights or anything. Jimmy yeah so, i wanted to write a tune that would, you know, rock the house. And so i wrote rockn me and thats we learned it that afternoon, and went to london and played it the next day in front of 125 jimmy why would you do that [ laughter ] thats why youre steve miller thats why you you take risks like that. [ cheers and applause sometimes you got to write them fast. Jimmy you got to write them fast and take risks. And you you were going to make you the honorary mayor of swing town. Jimmy yeah because while you were singing all my little tunes jimmy yeah i was in the back. I had my guitar in my hand and went, wow hes in the right key for Wild Mountain honey, singing it in beat i cant believe you did that. Jimmy wow you hear that .
