The gunman in dayton is dead but here in el paso, the suspect is alive and police want to know more on the other side of the growing memorial where tributes honor the 22 victims killed, the walmart parking lot in el paso remains a crime scene, investigators still meticulously piecing together what happened here now five days after the rampage, the family of the alleged gunman, patrick crusius, are left with questions. Patricks actions were apparently influenced and informed by people we do not know, they write, and from ideas and beliefs that we do not accept or condone in any way help reporter investigators say the gunman was motivated by hate the attorney representing his family telling cnn, weeks before the shooting his mother called police worried his son owned an assaultstyle rifle. But because he was 21, there was nothing officers could do. Loss of life. Thats the hardest part. Reporter walmart manager robert evans could see the gunman executing his customers he said his sense of normalcy is now shattered in the place he loved to work. Reporter when the gunman, 24yearold connor betts, opened fire outside a packed bar, nine were killed including the suspects sister like the shooter in el paso, his family says they too are devastated this morning in two griefstricken communities there may never truly be answers but in both cities the funerals will soon begin and the heartache may never end. Here in el paso 14 people remain hospitalized, including two people in Critical Condition but where the gunman remains alive here, the city can go through a Lengthy Court case and an appeals process the agony here could continue for months, if not years guys, back to you. This morning in tennessee, a manhunt is under way for an escaped convict. Authorities believe it may have something to do with the murder of a top prison administrator. We ask the public to stay vigilant, stay aware reporter the state bureau of investigation putting residents on high alert saying 44yearold curtis ray watson, convicted rapist and kidnapper, should be considered extremely dangerous. We need to get this dangerous individual into custody. Reporter watson was discovered missing when th investigators went to investigate the death of the corrections administrator who lived on the grounds of the western Tennessee State penitentiary there was evidence in her residence that foul play was involved reporter 64yearold debra johnson, 38year employee of the prison state system rose through the ranks from corrections officer to warden to administrator. Watson now considered a person of interest in her murder. Very, very scary. Reporter watsons rap sheet dates back to 1999 and includes convictions for aggravated rape, especially aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault and aggravated child abuse but he was being held in minimum security, working as a farm laborer at the prison. Overnight the drag net expanding. Officials confident his time on the run will be short. Rest assured that we will find this offender and bring justice to the family of debra johnson. Watson was serving a 15year sentence and was due to be released in 2025 Authorities Say the inmate escaped on a tractor that was found about a mile away. Her uncle robert f kennedy, jr. , delivered the eulogy a mass this morning and were learning about what he said. And its very touching Anne Thompson is here this morning. In every word of this eulogy, you feel that love saoirse was just 22 when she passed away at the familys compound on cape cod, but according to her uncles moving eulogy she packed a lot of life into her short time here on earth. Meat that looks and tastes like the real thing, and its become big business in just a year, plantbased meat sales increased by 26 , bringing in more than 800 million. More restaurants are adding it to the menu. Options popping up in stores as well but is it really a healthier option Dave Zinczenko is a today show contributor and founder of east this, not that good to see you. These are all the rage now first of all, what constitutes meatless meat, fake meat if you will first of all, its meat made from plants, thats number one and second these companies were able to to replicate almost perfectly the taste, texture and chemical composition of burgers in this case unlike a typical veggie burger of the past, they are trying to get it to taste like meat so you will eat more of them. They even cook like your reques traditional burgers . Exactly the same. This is a regular burger. I know what these taste like. Well, if we go through the nutritionals on them, what you will see for Something Like beef, its going to come in and feel free to try any of these, its going to come in at about 287 calories normally. It has 75 milligrams of sodium, which is great, 23 grams of fat and about 8. 6 grams of saturated fat. Thats where we were with traditional beef okay, regular beef. Then we move over to impossible and thats coming in at about 240 calories, so youre saving around 40 then its got 14 grams of fat, which is youre saving there its got about the same saturated fat. And a little bit more sodium. Okay. How about the beyond meat burger i have actually had these on a number of occasions. Its like impossible coming in around 250 calories, a little higher when it comes to sodium but fat is much less fat and a lot less saturated fat 6 grams of saturated fat is great because we should get 20 grams a date. On a day are meatless burgers healthier than traditional theyre not necessarily healthier because manufacturers are trying very hard to give you a plantbased meat alternative, they wanted to so its going to have similar saturated fats, sodium and calories however, its better for you, two important distinctions, its better for you for eating less red meat because we eat about 2 1 2 burgers worth of red meat a day, five times more than we should beyond that, its much better for the planet its much more sustainable if youre thinking about the environment and youre trying to eat less red meat the report out this morning that speaks to that. No animals were harmed in the making of these products. Its not just these burgers, this meatless trend is everywhere sausages its exploding and their mastering the taste. What are these .
