A new battle in the trade war with china. The u. S. Claims china is manipulating its currently and its causing u. S. Markets to plunge. Yesterday was the worst day of the year for wall street. We have what that could mean for your retirement fund. I have to admit, i dont want to look. A lot of people not wanting to look. Things were looking better this morning. President trump tweeted this morning that were in a strong position, despite the fact that the markets really tanked over the china situation yesterday and for the past week it seems to be escalating into a fullblown trade war. The United States is officially labeling china a currency manipulator. Accusing the nation of deliberately lowering the value of its money to sell goods cheaper and gain a competitive advantage. President trump tweets, its one sided, a major violation of international commitment, designed to steal our businesses and factories, hurt our jobs, depress our workers wages and harm farmers prices. It comes after President Trump imposed more tariffs on china last week to punish them for not buying enough from American Farmers as promised to balance our trade deficit. If they dont want to trade with us that would be fine with me. It would save a lot of money. We hope to get a good bilateral trade deal that benefits americans and american workers. The Treasury Department says china has a long history of undervaluing its currency and its central bank admits they plan to keep doing so. Wall street is not happy with this trade war. The dow plunged more than 750 points monday. Its worst day of the year. Again, with opening bell here, things are looking better. Were told for today, we will have to see where things shake out. We have to try to keep our eye on the big the long game, right . Thanks. A lot of those tariffs affect things we buy every day. We have food from china. A lot of our kids goods. School supplies right now. You were talking about one of the twitter users who called it a tax on having children. To be clear, americans are paying those tariffs, even if the president sometimes says the opposite. The other thing you have in here is this accusation against china its manipulating its currency. Thats a valid accusation. It has gotten cheaper for china. They have lowered they have allowed their currency to fall. They were propping it up for some time. They are not finally unm unmanipulating it. Its another thing in this vast stew of things that is causing wall street to really have trouble. The president is talking about it on twitter. Jury deliberations are set to resume in the ghost ship warehouse fire trial. The jurors received the case last week. They face 36 counts of Involuntary Manslaughter for the deadly 2016 fire.
