Degrees. I think well be right at that number or slightly below. Here is a look at our south bay high temperatures as you get ready to head out, still heating up in the south county with gilroy reaching 86 degrees. Well talk about whats ahead for the rest of the week as you get ready to head out on the roads this morning. Here is an overall view of the bay area that so far looks good. We are keeping an eye on that one issue on highway 101. We normally see this construction at the whipple offra offramp, and so thats still going on. Well see if we see anything slowing down but so far, everything looks good as you get ready to head out on the roads. Well look at the complete traffic maps and the forecast coming up in a few minutes. Bak bay, where the roads are shut down, around a construction site in downtown san jose, after two people climb a 20story construction crane. You see that in the center of our live picture there, our downtown san jose camera. Those people refusing to come down. Today in the bays bob redell is live near city hall to show us whats happening. Reporter scott and kris, you can see behind me San Jose Police shut down santa clara between third and fifth streets here as they try to get the second person to come down from this crane. One man has come down within the past, well, here comes the second person, looks like hes coming down right now. One man came down about ten minutes ago. Hes been arrested and as we watch live, looks like this man right now is finally coming down, it looks like he might have dipped out of our view because we have the construction site there and the fence, but it looks like hes coming down and moments ago, he was also on his cell phone talking to someone, i dont know if he was talking to police or someone else but hopefully this means hes coming down and police will be able to take him away and theyll be able to reopen these roads. I want to show you video of morning, climbed up to the top of this crane. I cant tell how tall that crane is, its at least ten stories tall, they were in the cab the crane operator sits in, going in and out of that. As a result police came out, they were trying to get them to come down but they had to shut down the roads between third and fifth on santa clara just across from city hall as they tried to get them to come out. So again, one man already came down, hes been taken into custody, and im under the assumption right now this man did make it all the way down and that police are there waiting to take him in to custody as well and i wonder if well see him come out of this construction site at some point, but right now, until we know that hes been taken into custody, the roads are shut down here between third and fifth, again, on santa clara, in front of city hall. Reporting live here in downtown san jose, bob redell, ready today in the bay. Really scary. Those cranes are ridiculously tall. Thank you, bob. This morning, two more cities are in mourning, after being ravaged by terror. This is just of course one week after the garlicl shooting. Separate Mass Shootings happened over the weekend, both in texas and in ohio. And both were just hours apart, killing at least 29 day ined, wounding more than 50. El paso. Police engaged that shooter within 20 seconds of his first shot, killed him less than ten seconds later and yet he was still able to kill nine people. The gunmans manifest yo posted on the website, the website protected from hacking by a bay area based tech company or at least it was. This morning the company says it is pulling the plug on that page. Today in the bays ths thn is in san francisco. Its a critical decision. Reporter the companys ceo matthew prince said late yesterday he was done with 8chan using his platform home rfor him used by other White Nationalist terrorists to glorify their hate before they committed their crimes and within minutes, we might remember following the horrific slaughter of the his panning back to School Shoppers in el paso, had al nationalists killers used 8chan in the past to boast about their hatefilled beliefs and celebrate what someling ame terrorism internationally. Late sunday, democratic president ial candidate Kamala Harris made a plea to social Media Companies to police themselves and not to profit by promoting hate. There is a lot about also the Business Model of these fights that is about the click bait, the things that attract the most clicks make them the most money and part of their Business Model and hate sadly happens to attract a lot of clicks, so the responsibility is across the board, including the social Media Companies. Any Business Model that profits off of hate is a Business Model that should be shut down. Reporter cloudflare reacted quickly putting up a statement yesterday it would shut down m went dark on its website and on its mobile site. It might not last long, though. 8chan already putting out on twitter late yesterday that it could be u in 24 to 48 hours. Were live in san francisco, thom jensen, today in the bay. This is not the first time matthew prince used his power as ceo. He was interviewed here on nbc bay area. He was uncomfortable having the power to decide who should be online and who should not but did it anyway. This just in, President Trump on twitter giving some ground to the idea of stronger gun control, but at the same time tieing it to immigration, writing in part republicans and democrats must come together and get strong background checks, perhaps marrying this legislation with desperately needed immigration reform. It starts out with a few more clouds this morning and also some fog near the coast. Here is a live look outside in fremont, if youre about to head out the door. Were looking at temperatures in the low 60s and making it into the low 70s later on this morning. Overall, we have ae ahead. Well talk about that and traffic, coming up next. You know when youre at ross and you score the Perfect Outfit . Ooooohhhh game on now, thats yes for less. Nothing beats geinrendat 20 to 60 percent off Specialty Store prices. At ross. Yes for less. Lets get a check of your weather and traffic this morning. Double duty with kari hall. Over the weekend i was at the fremont festival of the arts. How was it . Amazing. Really nice. A little warm. We were giving out Water Bottles and it was a good time out there. Cool. That was nice. As we start and wake up on this monday morning, we are going to see a lot of clouds in san francisco. Thats what were seeing right now, some mist and driz tozle t start out the day and the clouds will linger for much of the bay area as we go into the afternoon. We are going to have slightly cooler temperatures. Your morning drive from brentwood starts out in the lower 60s and nice, cool start to the day, even after a very warm weekend, and you probably start to feel those winds picking up yesterday evening, s temperatures, well reach into the mid deees. For the east bay expect a high of 88 degrees in walnut creek, and in pleasanton, and in hayward, reaching 75 degrees. San mateo will see a high of 73 degrees there, and for san francisco, were staying in the 60s this afternoon. I think well also see some mostly cloudy skies there, but partly cloudy in the north bay, where sonoma tops out at 86 degrees. Thats a live look outside in san jose, as you are getting up and getting dressed this morning. You might want to wear some light long sleeves for the morning in those cooler temperatures but also some comfortable shoes you probably want to get outside and enjoy the little cooldown that well see. We will have some tropical clouds moving in, as we get a surge of monsoonal moisture coming into the bay area, and then well also see an area of low pressure lingering off the pacific northwest, that will give us a stronger ocean breeze, and help bring in some cooler air, so look at how our temperatures respond. Were going to be in the upper 80s to start the week and cooling down to the mid 80s. San francisco will stay in the 60s all throughout the work week. As you get out there on the roads this morning, lets get a look at our overall commute. It looks pretty good as you get ready to start out and were also just tracking one issue on highway 4, and this was a crash that was on walnut boulevard. We are going to continue to monitor that. So far it doesnt look like anyones slowing down in that area just around the brentwood area. As we head over toward the peninsula, highway 101 near whipple road, the offramp, we had the construction going on, sometime during this time of morning they start to pick up the cones, clear the construction and we start to see traffic slowing down. Northbound 101 from highway 85 in san jose to highway 87 takes but 11 minutes, and northbound 87 from 85 to 101 takes about ten minutes. So ill keep an eye on all the drive times as well as the Weather Forecast thats coming up in just a few minutes. Thank you, kari. It was just a week ago we were sitting here talking about gilroy and the terror there. Now we are continuing our coverage of two deadly Mass Shootings, these over the weekend, in less than 24 hours, both el paso, texas, and dayton, ohio, were left ravaged by violence. In total, at least 29 people were killed, and more than 50 people wounded. Nbcs jay gray is live in el paso this morning. Jay, i worked there as a young reporter and the people there are so wonderful, they have to be absolutely heartbroken. Reporter good morning, youre absolutely right. This is such a giving and welcoming community, and they are, theyre stunned. Theyre still in shock right now, and really wrestling not only with whats happened, but how they move forward. As you can see behind me, the area still locked down at this point, still a very active crime scene. After whats been a weekend of terror, investigators and the two grieving communities really searching for answers this morning. They say theyre going to continue tore, police and federal agents, for as long as necessary, that this will be a slow, meticulous investigation that they want to make sure they gather every piece of evidence possible, and really working both here and in ohio, towards finding a motive in this shooting. They say its too early at this point to really know how and why these massacres were carried out, but they also point out, investigators that is, that they are going to do this to honor those who were lost and respect those who are survivors from the attacks here. There were memorials in both cities overnight, and a lot of people coming together saying that thats where they gain their strength right now, being together, being with those who are going through the same experience, and trying to figure out a way that they can heal, talking to the governor of el paso yesterday, what he told me was this will not define us. This city will move on, but he also was quick to point out, we cant even start that process until we get through 20 funerals here, 20 people have to be bury ed. Its overwhelming, hard to get your mind around. The Walmart Store was still an active crime scene as of last night. Are people able to have their loved ones remains returned to them at this point . Reporter yes, what weve been told is th the a victims h removed from the walmart, so they have taken by the coroner, and were told this morning that that office still in the process of contacting next of kin, of relatives and so they wont make a list public until they finish that. You travel the nation for us, going to these news incidents that we need to cover on television. This is not your first time covering a mass shooting. How does that affect you . Reporter scott, unfortunately, youre right. Weve seen way too many of these over the last few years. This weekends different, though, and its different in a lot of ways. First, as kris talked about, this community that is just so giving, and then the fact that we had two in the span of 13 hours i think is a real testament to what is a serious issue in our country, and the fact that we havent done anything since parkland to really slow the pace of these attacks, it wears on our group certainly, but thats nothing compared to what were covering, to the people that are living through all of this, and you just feel for them, scott and kris. You hurt along with them, if thats fair to say. I think it is definitely fair to say. Stay safe out there, jay, and we will talk with you again soon. Thank you. We talked about it on the news and people spread word on social media. So many people signed up that the federal trade comission says theres not enough money in the settlement to pay everyone completely. It turns out they only set aside 31 million for cash compensation.
