Very dangerous strategy, i think, and if it continues i think it could come there could be some serious splashback on those candidates. Going after the Obama Administration in a democratic primary seems a little nutty to me and that was kind of what they were doing last night but i dont think joe biden did a good enough job explaining what the positives of obamas record as it relates to immigration. And i dont think he did a good enough job, frankly, explaining how badly this administration is trying to tear apart the protections that obamacare brought the United States. What about senator Kamala Harris . Most people felt like she had a breakout moment at the first debate, so lots of eyes on her. Now the attacks were coming to her as well, on these second debates. How did she fare . I think she did okay. You know, clearly it appeared that maybe she wasnt as used to being attacked. When you start getting attacked thats the moment you have to really stay calm and remain friendly and, i think that maybe wobbled her just a bit. Overall shes a very strong, smart woman. She will stay in this until much later in the process. You know what i want most of all, can we get rid of some of these candidates . Its giving me a headache. Do you think that these candidates have any incentive to get out of the race . Maybe at this next debate, winnows the field by the requirements, i think its a good thing our partys done that because id like to see us get down to seven or eight candidates Going Forward so people can focus on the differences and contrasts. This morning, still others are unaccounted for, all because of the blast overnight that is an emergency situation still unfolding. Authorities say the fire is out but the debris is still smoldering. Its so bright. Reporter overnight a gas explosion in kentucky, ripping through a Rural Residential area killing one woman and setting several houses on fire. A ruptured gas line was the cause of the explosion, crews shutting off the gas, authorities evacuating residents of a nearby mobile home park. We have so much to talk about, including insecure, everybody is dying for it to come back. Lets talk about this sketch show its kind of historic. How did you get involved i got involved via robin thede, ive been a fan of hers for a while. They made the mistake of cancelling her show and i called her as soon as that news broke and i was like, hey, girl, what you got . She had this sketch show featuring all black women behind the scenes in front of the scenes and took it to hbo and they bought it on the spot. Each show has the sketch in it youre in a few of these sketches. Im in a few. They invited me to play. We have such amazing guests throughout we have angela basset. We have laverne cox. We have patti labelle. Patti labelle, the legend so many women were ready to play and its an honor to be a part of this project. Sounds like you didnt get any noes, anyone you called, yes, schedule it, im there. It was all scheduled. Everybody was super excited to be a part of it, super game and it shows in every sketch. You mentioned the historic nature of this show, not just from people on screen but behind the scenes why was that part of it so important to you if youre featuring black women in front of a screen it makes sense to have the people behind the scenes reflect that and so we just wanted to get the funniest women, robin had a rolodex of female comediennes, comedy writers they all came together to bring this to life. I read you were the person most likely to break in a sketch, they were making you laugh. Im just worthless. You know, i think if its something funny i cant hold my laughter in. These women are so funny theyre True Professionals i am not. I was reading the descriptions of the sketches, the premise of them, some of them are just so funny. Yeah, they just anything that you can think of they put on the screen. And theres so many of them that are so relatable when you think i know where this is going you dont it takes a dramatic turn. We cant wait to see that show tonight on hbo, and your other show insecure, announcing the Fourth Season of it and the internet totally flipped out. Whats taken hold of people on this show . People see themselves in the characters they also just like mess and these characters lives are very, very messy but yeah, i just love that people are really, like, grasping onto the concept of the show. Everyone wants to know who shes going to be with any hints . I cant give you any hints. Weve gone from eight episodes to ten episodes, im really proud of us. Its grown but were still writing. We shoot in september. So as we look at your career, it was only eight years ago that your web series awkward black girl came out that launched you on the path to where you are now. Have you been able to stop and pinch yourself a little bit and think about that journey a little bit, hearing you say eight years its just like wow, thats incredible, i can remember the first time i pressed send, my face is going out to the world, to the internet but the vision was just so small then and to think of what its become is incredible i have great people that ive worked with along the way though. Why do you think it caught on im sure people every day are uploading something and wishing their story would turn out like yours did. Why did it resonate . I think the name, awkward black girl, the situations, everybody has felt awkward and uncomfortable at some point in times. People latched onto that, i have an identity now. I didnt know i was that before. You do awkwardness very well, and i mean that as a compliment. You know what, its universal, everyone can relate to feeling like a big dork. Have you thought about other things you want to do down the road i cant think of what i dont want to do at this point obviously films and working on a couple other tv shows. Outside of this, what do i want to do . Do i want to make an impact politically . Do i want to help save the environment . Theres so much to do and i dont want to be limited to just entertainment.
