Gilroys police chief says the possibility of a second suspect in the case is not likely. He also says the second shotgun was found in the gunmans car, parked near Festival Grounds. A bag full of ammo was also found in a creek not far from where the gunman cut through the fence. Investigators do not believe he specifically targeted minorities. The three Police Officers who killed the gunman are on standard administrative leave. First responders across the bay area will be conducting Emergency Response drills today, just days after that shooting. Bob redell joins us live in antioch. Separately, we have learned there are a couple of major events here in the bay area that will be boosting security in direct response to the shooting in gilroy. In the south bay, the Santa Clara County Sheriffs Office will now be taking over security for the 75th annual Santa Clara County fair which starts tomorrow and runs through sunday. That means there will be a lot more deputies on site, as opposed to private security guards, which weve seen in years past, as well as federal agents. The idea is to do whatever they need to do to make sure that every family is safe inside that facility during the fair. We will be checking bags and backpacks and ensuring that when people come in that theres a sense of security from the entrance of the gate and all during the festivities. Weve seen that for the past couple of days and the sevenday forecast is coming up at the bottom of the screen, as we check out our temperature trend for los gatos. Expect some upper 50s at 8 00, and then we go from 59 to 73 degrees at 11 00, then going to reach into the mid 80s. It will be heating up this afternoon. Lets look at all of our microclimates and go hour by hour. Here we are at 10 00, were at 70 in antioch. Cupertino is at 69 degrees. At noon, headed into 1 00, if you have a late lunch expect it to be 76 degrees in novato and 75 in palo alto. Well start to see low 80s in the south bay as well as the inland east bay, with some upper 80s in antioch this afternoon, while we see a high of 87 in concord today. It will be a nice one and then cooling down quickly. It wont be as windy as yesterday but still a nice cooldown going in to tonight. And if youre planning to head out to the as game, first pitch at 7 07, its going to be nice and sunny, some mid60s, but then cooling down so have a jacket with you, once the temperatures drop. As we look at whats happening here, the cooldown is on. Weve seen High Pressure backing off across the desert southwest, and also a storm system approaching to the Pacific Northwest thats going to bring them some rain. For us, with the winds flowing around that area of low pressure, we have some breezy winds bringing in some of the cool air from the coastal fog but this weekend, the High Pressure will start to build once again, and we are going to have some slightly warmer temperatures for the inland valleys. So look at the sevenday forecast, we have some low to mid 80s, and then some low 90s for saturday and sunday into early next week. San Francisco Holding steady, with some upper 60s, and also that fog lingering each and every day. Vianey, youve been tracking the roads headed in to San Francisco. Now whats going on . Yes, San Francisco, if youre going to be commuting along northbound 101, i do have a crash that i want to tell you about. Let me start with this overall look at the bay area. In the south bay typical slowing. East bay no big accidents. Lets get right to the crash. Chp is reporting, have reported on this earlier. Chp now saying of course this is a rollover crash and we hope everybodys okay. The two right lanes are blocked along northbound 101 at grand avenue. Were starting to notice some heavy delays backed up beyond san bruno 380 so beyond that interchange is starting to get heavy. You can see that was yellow earlier, now we see complete red. Its really tough especially right now at 6 20, so again, this is along northbound 101 at grand avenue, a rollover crash is blocking the two right lanes. They have some lanes open but because of those two right lanes that are closed, expect heavy delays. East bay drive times westbound 80 from highway 4 to the bay bridge, youre looking at 22 minutes and westbound 580 from 238 to the bay bridge looking at 28 minutes. It will be a cool start and reaching into the low 80s by early afternoon and for a lot of our microclimates, well be slightly cooler than normal for this last day of july. Well talk about whats ahead for the weekend, thats in about six minutes and vianey has a look at the commute only a couple of minor issues out there for drivers. A couple of minor issues, the entire bay area. We have regular slow spots to the south bay along 101 but the drive in to San Francisco if youre driving along northbound 101 we do have a crash. This is a grand avenue, the two right lanes remain blocked because of a rollover crash and there are heavy delays expected, backed up beyond 380, san bruno. At this point your best bet is to take surface streets just to avoid that one stretch again from grand avenue all the way back up through san bruno mountain. Make sure to take a surface street, another hot spot as well, the bay bridge toll plaza but this one is pretty usual. Investigators there are trying to figure out why a mother gave birth to twins near a dumpster and just walked away. I know, its so tragic. Pete suratos joins us live from fairfield with a look at some of the details. Pete . Reporter good morning to you guys. A very sad story out of fairfield. Were in that area behind that strip mall where the mother gave birth to the twins. One of the twins was pronounced dead on the scene but here is the latest information that were getting from fairfield police. They say they got the call yesterday afternoon of a woman behind a business on the 300 block of pittman road in fairfield giving birth on the sidewalk behind these businesses. When Police Arrived they could only locate the two newborns but not the mother. An officer started life saving efforts on one of the newborns who was eventually taken to a hospital and is in stable condition at last check. The other infant as i mentioned was pronounced dead on the scene. The mother was eventually located nearby and detained, and taken to a hospital for treatment. Some people in the area say this woman appeared to be homeless and may have been dealing with mental issues. We did speak with a Business Owner nearby in the strip mall who says he previously heard about her from his employees. They had seen her over the last few weeks, come in to use the restroom, she was sitting out here and they noticed she was pregnant. Reporter california does have a law that allows you to surrender your infant to a hospital, fire station or other safe locations. No questions asked. Fairfield police will allow that mom to get medical care before determining any criminal charges. Were live here in fairfield, pete suratos for today in the bay. Sounds like she needs some help. Tonight, mourner also gather for a vigil honoring the victims of the gilroy garlic festival shooting, the same day some of the people who fled that chaos could actually finally get some of their belongings, including their cars back. Kris, this is one of those days and things that people are still trying to figure out all what happened and just kind of get back to their lives, in a way. Right, a lot of folks are wondering how theyll get back to normal ever but some folks will be able to take the first steps later on today. Christmas hill park behind me is still an active crime scene. The investigation there continues, but so does the mourning for those victims. In fact, just yesterday there were separate memorials in san jose for the youngest victims remembered by their family and friends. Today folks can start to get their vehicles back from certain parking lots but only under Law Enforcement escort. That means you cannot just show up and pick up your car. Owners have to go to del bueno Elementary School first with a valid drivers license, proof of registration and insurance as well. As i mentioned, the Festival Grounds themselves are still an active crime scene, so anything that was left behind here by the people who were at the festival and ran to safety, that is still considered part of the investigation. A bombshell college aid scheme has been exposed and Shows Parents taking extreme measures to avoid tuition costs. According to the Investigative Journalism Organization Pro publica, parents are transferring guardianship of their collegebound children to a friend or family member. As experts explain, this allows the student to declare themselves financially independent, making them eligible for needbased scholarships and grants. This technique in particular is new and absolutely deserves everybodys sort of shock and scorn. Pro publica says its discovered more than 40 such guardship transfer cases in the chicago area alone. Advocates of this legal maneuver argue that, unlike College Admissions scandals, these students were fairly accepted and looking for a way to pay for tuition. If youre driving to San Francisco, northbound 101 at grand avenue, the two right lanes are blocked and unfortunately were still seeing heavy delays backed up beyond 380, san bruno, so if you want to go ahead and jump on san mateo avenue, thats your best bet to get around the mess and jump on after the fact. Also noticing regular slowing if youre driving from the trivalley in through fremont, this along 680. Look at the trivalley drive times, southbound 680 from 580 to vargas road 15 minutes. Westbound 58 grant line road to 680, looking at 20plus minutes pretty normal for this time and westbound 80 over the bay bridge about 18 minutes. It is wednesday, pretty standard commute this morning. All right, not too bad. Looking forward to the weekend already. Ha halfway there. On wednesday you start to think oh, yeah, were half way through the week. What am i going to do this weekend . Its going to be a little bit warmer in some spots, so you may make plans based on where you can find the most comfortable weather. Inland were up to 90 degrees. I want to keep you up to date on whats happening in the tropics. We have two hurricanes in the pacific. A category 4 hurricane erick and also hurricane flossie thats a category 1. Flossie is the one well have to watch over the next few days with the potential of it moving closer to hawaii. Look at the track, erick stays south and flossie may have more of a direct impact for the hawaiian islands. Ill be watching that for early next week. In the inland areas weve got some low to mid 80s in the forecast, with our inland temperatures warming up to the low 90s by the weekend, and for San Francisco, expect some mid to upper 60s. The rest of the bay area is doing okay but that crash has been happening for quite some time now in terms of the delays along northbound 101 at grand avenue. The two right lanes remain blocked and theyre having delays and the reason it gets more backed up beyond san bruno now possibly in to burlingame is because the tow truck was stuck in that traffic. So its going to take a little bit longer for them to reach. Apparently it was a rollover crash and that was blocking the two right lanes. So take san mateo avenue, surface streets and avoid the area. Its building but its moving and a quick note for your mass transit, there are no delays being reported for b. A. R.
