Well show you the toll plaza coming up. Happening tomorrow morning, all eyes will be on capitol hill as former special Counsel Robert Mueller testifies in front of lawmakers. It begins here on nbc bay area live at 5 30 tomorrow morning. Muell muellers testimony will be about his connection to the Trump Campaign and the 448page report. It did not indict or clear President Trump on obstruction of justice. Muellers promised he wont say anything new. The report is my testimony. I would not provide information beyond that which is already public in any appearance before congress. Reporter but democrats believe most americans havent read the 448page report and will be shocked to hear the details. It will be very important for us to go through that evidence of conspiracy. President trump announced a twoyear budget deal with congressional leaders that includes extnd iing the nation debt ceiling, our debt limit essentially like having a credit card and about to hit the max. The app is supposed to only allow communications with people who have been vetted and approved by parents. But the website reports theres a flaw in the app that allows kids to enter group chats with strangers. Facebook has quiet lu shut down the chat rooms and alert the parents to the flaw. It allowed childrens friends to start chats and invite others. Facebook has had problems with user privacy. They plan to give a presentation to supervisored on possible policy changes. This colts after three people died in the county last year after being tased by officers. Back in may, the Sheriffs Office told the aclu deputies are already limited to using taser only three times on a suspect. The sheriff will ultimately make the final decision on the new policy. Now to the latest on another bay area freeway shooting. This happened just south of 98th avenue in oakland. A man in a d sedan opened fire. The driver was shot but is expected to be okay. Arrests have been made but the shooter is believed to be a man in his 30s to 40s driving a darkcolored sedan. The search continues for a hitandrun driver who left a man with series injuries. The driver was speeding off the freeway and thats when the car struck the victim who was walking. Anyone with information is asked to call police. Chp telling us that officers were following a stolen car spotted in san jose at 2 30 in the morning. It led police on a chase topping speeds at some point at 100 miles an hour. This all ended at middlefield and palo alto. They are facing charges of evading and driving a stolen b vehicle. The trial is set to begin for a California Army veteran accused of plotting a terror attack as revenge object the attacks on the mosque. He was arrested in april and finalized plalances to detonate bomb in long beach. He discussed several types of attacks with an fbi informant and recently converted to islam. Authorities say he expressed his support for isis. He faces up to life in prison if convicted. 5 43 for you right now. The clock is running. There are few er than 24 hours until Robert Mueller testifies before congress. Millions of americans will be watching. Live coverage gavel to gavel pretty much on every channel. Lots of americans will be watching, though apparently not the president , who yesterday said he was ub unlikely to be tune in. Maybe ill see a little bit of it. But i wont be watching mueller because you cant take all those bites out of the apple. We had no collusion, no obstruction. The Mueller Report actually said it couldnt establish the Trump Campaign conspired with the russians. It did say the campaign was well aware of the russians help and benefitted from it. The be the is very incorrect about obstruction. The second half of the Mueller Report lays out ten instances of obstruction. But charging the president with a crime was, therefore, not an option we could consider. So to bring you back up to speed, the report says the russians interfered. The Trump Campaign knew about it. Benefitted from it. But the special counsel could not prove a conspiracy. It did establish that the Trump Administration impeded and interfered with the investigation. But refused to prosecute apparently leaving it to congress. This is what the mooueller repo says in print, but polls show only about 1 in 10 americans have read the report. So even if mueller said absolutely nothing new, what he said could be damaging. People wont read the book, but will watch the movie, so to speak. So television can be powerful. Case in point, the water gate hearings. Nixon had support at the start of those hearings. Even after some of his closest aids had been fired or resigned over the break in. One sport is making a debut and thats surfing. 2020 organizers are getting a taste of what might be. They are chosen for surfing events as it has consistent waves in japan. Take a look at it there. The hope is this should allow for the four days of olympic competition to be completed in an eightday window, but as any surfer can tell you, the water can be unpredictable. We depend on mother nature. Qualifications for surfing at the olympics already started with 20 places available for men and women. The rest of Silicon Valley is fine. We expect that pattern. It will lighten up in the south bay. The issue over here is reports of a brush fire alongside the freeway. I dont see anything more than our normal sleowing. We have the traffic towards the bridge write showed you earlier that brlts byebake lights bein. Eastbound 580 we have the crash cleared to the shoulder thats getting away from the bay bridge. Its fine for much of thekanscoy and predictable slowing. Thats when we see slowing towards the walnut creek interchange. The freeway looks great. We have that focus right there. The orange and the red at the toll plaza. The metering lights are on. We have this richmond side of the bridge. These are the fast track lanes. Over here all the the toll plaz is the backup we predicted. Its close toast the camera. Clashes between police and protesters erupt again in puerto rico overnight. This as their governor vow ed t stay on. Its escalating to avoid where many wonder would be able to lead the territory over the coming days. He insists he has already apologized and made amends following offensive texts.
