It was a moderate shaking intensity, a 5, which means some unstable objects might have fallen off of some shelves. Cheryl says she and her small dog ran. When she finally ditched the man, she had no idea how to get back to the camp site. She then was missing for four days. When her family started to lose hope, cheryl and her dog made it out alive. Im doing okay. Im just happy to be back with my family. Im happy to be here to tell my story. Reporter well, the med students we talk with say they spotted the noose hanging from a tree here on campus on friday night. They did call stanford Public Safety, but they tell us that they feel that their concerns were dismissed. This photo was taken of a noose hanging in front of a small tree at a dorm at stanford. She said just the sight of it was enough to scare her. My immediate thought was nothing but fear because i had never actually physically seen a noose. So i was just distraught and really didnt know how to feel and immediately, to be honest, i looked for plane tickets. Reporter perkins is a med student working as an adviser for a Summer Program teaching students about emergency medicine. She says many involved in the program are minorities and she feels the noose was a message to them. This Program Assistant who ask not to be identified also saw the noose. I was terrified for my life. I was, you know, i called my mom and she was ready to put me on a plane back home because we dont know if the person is still hanging around. We dont know what the next action might be. And, again, we were in my opinion, compared to all the summer camps, we were the biggest minority summer camp. Reporter Program Staff called stanford Public Safety but say the response was lacking. It seemed to be dismissed and swept under the rug. Reporter we reached out to stanford who issued a statement saying, the incident is currently under investigation as a suspicious circumstance, but if additional evidence comes to light, it may be reclassified as a hate crime. The plan requires all grocers to carry compostable bags. Rainbow grocery on fulsome street implemented years ago. Its a smart move, though its not cheap. There is a cost to it.
