Today in the bays bob redell is live outside San Pablo Police department with the details. Good morning, bob. Reporter kris and marcus, San Pablo Police do not believe this is a random crime, that the 22yearold victim was the intended target. This shooting happened last night around 9 20. This was on the 900 block of stanton avenue not far from the intersection with giant road in san pablo. The officers who responded found a man in a vehicle with a single gunshot wound. Police did what they could to try to save his life, until paramedics arrived but sadly, the man died there on the scene. Police have not released his identity. They want to notify his family first and Police Believe the shooter targeted this man. If you have any information, detectives would like to hear from you. New overnight, one person is dead, another critically injured after a late night shooting in San Franciscos bay view district. It happened about 11 00 last night on gennings street two blocks east of third street. Right now, police are not saying whether they know what led to that shooting but officers say one man died at the scene and another man is said to have lifethreatening injuries. We are working to find out more about a possible suspect. President donald trump is speaking out about labor secretary alexa costs coul alex cutting a deal with a sex offender in 2008. The president really giving some mixed messages on the labor secretary saying he feels badly for him, but they will take a closer look at that plea deal. This morning, labor secretary alex acosta under mounting political pressure. The president saying hell be looking very closely at acostas handling of a controversial case involving billionaire and politically connected fitnessier Jeffrey Epstein. I can only say this from what i know and what i do know is that hes been a great, really great secretary of labor. The rest of it, well have to look at. Well have to look at it very carefully. Reporter epstein is now sitting in a manhattan jail cell after pleading not guilty to sex trafficking charges in new york, but in 2008 he cut a widely criticized plea deal with then florida u. S. Attorney al alex acosta, allowing him to plead guilty to state charges of soliciting and procuring a minor for prostitution in order to avoid more serious federal charges. Now democrats demanding acosta quit or be removed. We should hold this prosecutor accountable. He should resign from his position. Reporter republicans not going as far but wanting to know more. If this plea deal doesnt withstand scrutiny, then it would be a job for the Judiciary Committee to find out how it got off the ralds. Reporter acosta commenting on the new case saying the crimes committed by epstein are horrific and now new evidence and additional testimony is available, the new prosecution offers an important opportunity to more fully bring him to justice. The transition itself is open and the slow something starting to clear. Crews may have arrived to take care of the issue or they may have completely cleared it over the last couple of minutes. Overall a nice day there, with our temperatures right where we should be, even slightly below for downtown san jose. But it will be a little bit warmer today in gilroy, reaching 84 degrees. Well also see some mid 80s in parts of the east bay, with pittsburg reaching 85 degrees, and in martinez 80 today. San mateo were going to head up to 73 degrees, with San Francisco in the mid60s, and still pretty windy there. It wont be as windy in the north bay, but we will see the clouds to start and clearing out as we go throughout the day. So we are seeing this storm system still moving across portland and up toward seattle. That is really unusual to see a storm system bringing that amount of rain. As that moves up to the north and east, were going to start to see High Pressure building across the desert southwest. Its going to change the direction of our wind, bring in some hotter temperatures just in time for the weekend. If you didnt get to go swimming last weekend, you want some pool weather this time around, you got it. Were headed into the low 90s for saturday and sunday. In oakland the damage is being assessed after two separate crashes at grace baptist church. This is a couple of miles south of the oakland coliseum. Its first crash happened when a car drove off 98th avenue, ran into the church wall last night. No one was hurt, but then a few minutes later, another car crashed into a patrol car there. Were told that the officer suffered minor injuries. Happening today, dozens of Kaiser Mental Health workers in San Francisco plan to walk off the job in a oneday strike, upset about staffing levels, crowded Group Therapy sessions and they want to calm or claim that they want those extended wait times to go down. At caser clinic on gary boulevard, thats where todays oneday strike will take place. Kaiser recently told the examiner that its therapists are some of the best compensated anywhere in california and Mental Health services is a challenging experience and they say they are facing all of those Health Care Providers with the challenges and hoping to resolve those issues. An officer is with the tourist as he recovers from the injuries at the hospital and the plan is to help the tourist reunite with family. Here say scene from yesterday following the car breakin. It took place outside of the legion of honor in San Francisco. The tourist who is from South Carolina was hurt when the suspects drove their getaway car at him after they spotted the tourist taking pictures of them breaking into his car. Emergency crews took the victim to the hospital with head and collarbone injuries, its what were learning this morning. The suspects broke into two cars in that Museum Parking lot yesterday and residents who live nearby called the situation unsettling. Thats scary that i think shows how little value people have about other peoples lives. Reporter the tourist is in stable condition as of this morning, and Police Describe the suspects as two men in gray hoodies driving a silver car, possibly a bmw. For years, people wanted to change the name of San Rafael Dixie School District due to its confederacy ties associated with the name. Dixie will now give way for the new Miller Creek Elementary School district. Board members last night voted on the name change. The name change becomes official next month. Doctors are talking about a medical miracle that may soon make all the difference for women who cant conceive. A young woman without a uterus gave birth to a baby last month, a first in the United States and only happened once before anywhere, that is because the woman gave birth after she received a uterus transplant from a donor. Doctors call it a complete success. Went very well, and it was not as complex as we anticipated, which is obviously something you always hope. This happened last month at the cleveland clinic. That mother is in her mid30s and she delivered that little baby girl following that transplant that doctors performed two years ago. A lot of people will be headed to San Francisco and there will be a lot going on this weekend in the city from bastille Day Celebrations to low riders bouncing down the streets to naked bike riders. Well see temperatures in the upper 60s. Thats just me, and so well see the inland valleys reaching up to 90 degrees, and its going to be hot in the valley so i think a lot of people will be headed to the coast, even the bay will be up to the upper 80s with a lot of sunshine, and if youre going over to los altos, the arts and wine festival, both days the temperatures upper 70s, maybe reaching 80 degrees briefly but it will be a nice day to head out there and for the trivalley its going to be hot, going out to some of the vineyards, you want to find one with air conditioning because it will be up to 93 degrees on saturday and sunday up to 91 degrees. The sierra is a live look at squaw valley, going to be really nice for all outdoor activities, reaching up to the upper 70s and low 80s with mostly sunny skies. We still have this unusual weather setup with this storm system moving across the Pacific Northwest and for us, a very strong onshore wind flow, bringing in some cooler ocean breezes, going into the next few days, High Pressure builds across the desert southwest, and our temperatures will be going up. I was watching the differences in temperatures. Definitely big difference. Over here, we are seeing the difference at the bay bridge, more traffic flowing toward the toll plaza. We expected the lanes to be filled, well populated but summertime sees a more gradual build and this added to it. The upper east shore freeway saw a couple of crashes. The worst impact there was out on the shoulder, big distraction with the number of vehicles, slowest speeds reporting below 20 miles per hour, passing by the area through richmond to San Pablo Dam road. A smoother drive, looks like they may have gotten some of that distraction cleared. Another big jam, well west valley road headed toward 680, jammed up by an earlier crash. No details on the crash itself. The chp is busy scrambling around the area and looks like speeds are starting to improve. Going through the dun lin interchange is fine, if you avoid that cutthrough.
