Tonight a bay area man described a terrifying plane ride over contra cost a county. It came on the same exact plane that crashed in hawaii last week killing 11 people. New at level, nbc bay areas ian coal spoke with the man. Ian, hes afraid the plane could have had the same problem. Anoushah, he hopes its not. More could have been done. Ntsb is looking at maintenance and repair logs and what happened three years ago over Contra Costa County. His heart sang when he saw 11 people were killed in a plane crash in hawaii, especially when he found out hed previously been on the same plane in 2016 above byron, california, for a terrifying moments. I remember thinking that im going to die. Reporter he didnt want his face on camera for this story, but points out the shadows rotating on the wall show how the twin engine beach craft king air was spiraling out of control after stalling several times. As it was spinning. The century fugal force and g forces were strong. I remember not being able to move my hands, not being able to move my body at all. Reporter the sky diver celebrating a friends 400th jump instead had to search for the chaos through the door to get out. He was grateful they all had parachutes on. We were lucky because that happened at 13,000 feet and not low. Reporter his camera also recording a piece of the plane falling out of the sky. The pilot landed safely. The ntsb blamed pilot error in that incident for failing to maintain air speed and proper weight and balance. Pilot lost control and there was structural damage to the airplane, so horizontal stabilizer, the tail section. Reporter the ntsb now investigating whether it was air worthy. They will pay close attention to see if something could have been done to prevent the tragedy. Im hoping its not the same issue. I hope all the repairs done to the plane were done with utmost quality. Reporter the ntsb is asking for anyone else who traveled on that plane and took pictures in the last two years to contact them. A preliminary report on the hawaii crash could be finished in two weeks. The final report may take two years to complete. Ian cull, nbc bay area news. Ian, thanks very much. New at 11 00, someone is soaking Homeless People in San Francisco with buckets of water and many people think its cruel. Nbc bay areas jean elle is live in San Francisco with more on whats going on there. Jean. Reporter terri, people who live and work here at 23 and bryant say when Homeless People are camped out here on the sidewalk, someone is getting up on the roof of this building and dumping water on them. Some neighbors say they want to know who it is so they can tell them to stop. Come on. Reporter video captures someone dumping a bucket of water off the roof of a twostory building saturday onto a homeless person below. He was like sopping wet by the time she passed by. At first i thought, all right, its just a weird coincidence, but then it happened a second time. Reporter rich said he was shocked wherlzed someone was soaking the woman and her belongings on purpose. Its horrible. Its passive aggressive and just heartless. Reporter a person who works in the building at 20th and bryant says he saw the same thing happen last week. I was outside with my colleague and witnessed, you know, a ton of water come down and land on this person. Reporter witnesses say they dont know who has access to the roof. They believe the person responsible is drenching people so they move along. The coalition on homelessness says its not unusual for People Living on the street to be targets. Stereotyping them and that leads to, you know, pretty serious acts of hatred against them. Reporter police say if the victim files a report, it could be investigated as misdemeanor battery. For now a twitter user is offering a 1,000 reward for information that identifies the person responsible. People who live and work nearby say they would like to tell them to stop. It has happened at least twice now were figuring out. Its really upsetting and i hope this person gets identified. Reporter jean elle, nbc bay area news. Just in tonight, raise it up, after a night of vigorous debate, the Pittsburgh City Council Voted to fly the pride flag at city hall. The Council Passed the resolution with a vote of 41. The vice mayor was the lone dissenting vote saying the American Flag is the only one that signifies unity and that there are more pressing issues to address in pittsburgh. Rainbow flag was put up shortly after that vote. In san joses willow glen neighborhood, a battle of the flags is being played out at downtown crosswalks. Rainbow flax, they were put up june 1st to celebrate pride month. They were gone the next day. Replaced with christian flags. Pride flags went back up only to disappear again this weekend, replaced with standard orange flags. Today for the third time, pride flags were put out again. Many are frustrated and disappointed with the theft. Its ridiculous. Its really, really sad in this community. I feel like were such a friendly community. Yeah, i dont understand it at all. Neighbors hope the new rainbow flags will last through the end of pride month. A quiet scene in the san jose neighborhood, but last night a much, much different story out there. Four murders and a suicide, we first brought you the story as breaking news at 11 00 last night. This all started with gunfire at habbits court. We learned the next door neighbor helped to hide the wife of the suspected gunman. Nbc bay areas robert handa was there today. He has the story. Shock. Its the only thing i can say, shock. Reporter a very shaken neighbor talking about the moment he knew people were killed. Just up the street a man shot and killed four people inside this home before killing himself. Today neighbor not alan bowie who asked not to be shown on camera said the victims were all relatives. Bowie said the man was searching for his wife after the shooting rampage. That wife hid in bowies home. The wife jumped the fence and ran into my house and then she locked the door in my kids room and i saw him asking, looking for his wife after he heard five or six shots. Reporter bowie said the wife escaped. Later police used an armoured vehicle to rescue two shooting victims, a man and a woman, both later died. They then found two adult women and the apparent suspect shot to death inside the home. You see people shot and being killed right in front of your eyes, its got to be terrible for them. Reporter tonight alan bowie is still processing it all. Do you know them . Not that well. Reporter what do you know about them . Hes a fisherman. Hes a nice guy. Reporter bowie said he has sympathy for the woman he believes is the suspects wife, but admits he was upset with her at the time. She didnt talk to me, anything. I was just kind of like upset. What are you doing running into this house . Reporter robert handa, nbc bay area news. Adel ramos, the man accused of killing Sacramento Police officer and Contra Costa County native Tara Osullivan appeared in court for the first time today. There he is right there with a large bandage on his head. Deputies say while he was in jail, ramos intentionally hit his head over and over again on his bed frame. Ramos is facing multiple felony charges including murder, attempted murder and using an illegal firearm. Hes accused of killing officer osullivan last week after she responded to a domestic disturbance call. We now know the names of the two People Killed in the crash in San Francisco early yesterday morning and the driver responsible didnt stick around to help. The family of sela enriques gathered at the scene tonight. She ordered a lyft to take her home. She and the driver were killed in the crash at third street and paul avenue. A mercedes crashed into them. The driver got out and ran. The son spoke to us tonight about what hed tell the driver of that car. I would tell him face to face, whatever, whatever happened, nothing is going to bring my mother back. Shes gone. She cannot come back to life. Two passengers were in that mercedes. Theyre hurt. Theyre going to be okay. The family said there is one thing the driver can do, though, turn himself in. A brush fire just east of livermore shot down all westbound lanes of 580 this afternoon. Flames broke out along the highway at 3 15, quickly spread smoke. You can see in the video, brought traffic to a crawl, and then all westbound lanes near greenville road were shutdown until firefighters could gain the upper hand. Thankfully nobody was hurt and no homes were threatened. A fire in the fremont foothills that we first told you about last night is being investigated as a possible arson. Police believe a domestic dispute led to the brush fire that burned in a foothill near blaze del way. Its not clear how the dispute eventually sparked the fire, though. Nobody was injured and no homes were damaged. The site of a controversial Navigation Center in San Francisco is now in the hands of the board of supervisors. Theyll vote on it tomorrow. Mayor london breed proposed the 200bed shelter on the embarcadero in march, hoping to have it open by summer. The recent report says theres been a 17 increase in people without stable housing since 2017, but there has been fierce opposition to the plan with opponents promising legal action if the proposal passes. They believe the center would lead to an increase in crime, especially drug sales. The first democratic president ial debate is less than two days away now. Downtown miami is the center of all the action. The adrian arch center for the performing arts is hosting this event. The first debate is critical in seeing how candidates distinguish themselves from one another. Never have we had so many qualified democrats running in the same year. Firefighters say a fire that started on the shoulder of highway 99 spread to that carmax lot. 83 cars were damaged or totally destroyed. A big rig dragging a chain may have sparked that fire. Several delays and this one comes at a real bad time. Fire season is upon us and a fire station in Contra Costa County is pushing back the reopening of its building another month. The refurbish station off happy valley road in lafayette, nbc bay areas cheryl hurd talked with the city leader who said pg e is partially the blame. Reporter tonight fire station 16 in the happy valley neighborhood of lafayette sits idle and under construction. This is causing a lot of frustration for Contra Costa County supervisor candace anderson. Right now we are being told it is not going to be open before august. Reporter a onemonth delay, according to anderson, thats a scary timetable because fire season is here. I would have hoped that pg e would have done everything in their power to get a fire station in a highfire danger area up and running to protect the community. Reporter this community has been without fire station 16 for six years. In 2013, it was shutdown because of major earthquake damage. There is ongoing discussion about you have to move the meter, and then you have to move the curb, and you have to change different things. Reporter in a statement tonight, pg e says theyve been working closely with the Contra Costa County Fire Protection district to ensure firehouse 16 meets safety standards. Tim scott has lived in the neighborhood for a decade. The neighborhood is thankful its finally going to be completed and there is not a vacant building sitting for year upon year. Reporter Contra Costa County Fire Protection officials briefed Lafayette City Council members on the progress of station 16. They say it will open on august 1st. Some people live in the happy valley neighborhood hope they will keep their promise. In lafayette, cheryl hurd, nbc bay area news. 400 passengers spent part of their day stuck in one of barts brandnew trains for more than an hour. Train broke down underground, triggering some big delays, forcing riders to evacuate through a pitch black tunnel. This is some video of it right here that one of the rieders shot. Between the 12th street station and lake merritt station. Passengers were told to walk down the dark tunnel until they reached the closest platform, which was several yards away. It was a little scary. I mean, getting out of the train, them opening the door and its pitch dark. There arent many lights. The bart staff were telling people not to touch the third rail. If you just deviate a little bit, you can get shocked and, you know, your life is at risk there. Bart is trying to figure out if a mechanical failure or Technical Glitch caused this new train to stop. One of san joses oldest and most Successful Tech Companies is about to get a whole lot bigger. Adobe broke ground on a fourth tower at its san jose headquarters today. These are sketches of what its going to look like. Big drop in the temperatures in the valley this weekend. We saw numbers in the 90s and probably the last day well come close to seeing 90 degree temgz. As you are about to see in the sevenday forecast, big drop coming our way. Right now San Francisco patchy low clouds off the west, 59 degrees. High today of 67. We should be at about the same ballpark in terms of those temperatures for tomorrow. And in san jose right now we have a few high clouds overhead. 64 degrees, high of 84. Tomorrows temperatures around san jose closer to 80 degrees. So as the breeze picked up, this is good news for air quality, good across the board. You dont often see that. As we move into the first week of summer, but there you go, nothing but ocean air conditioning effect with the wind to keep our temperatures fairly cool. In solano, concord, you can see the on shore breezes for 25 miles per hour. Patchy low clouds at times. Temperatures mostly in the low to mid 50s. As we head through the afternoon now, the upper boundary of high temperatures for tomorrow should be closer to the mid80s around morgan hill and south san jose, downtown san jose, closer to 81 degrees. 84 in los gatos. Notice out towards concord and the trivalley now seeing temperatures in the mid80s. Theyll continue on that downward trend as we continue through the middle part of the week. East side in the low 70s. Winds not too bad. Theyll be picking up in the afternoon. Locally gusty on the highway and coast later tomorrow. San francisco highs are going to be upper 60s and north bay temperatures in the upper 70s to low 80s. Now lets give you a preview of the big drop in temperatures. Come wednesday, not much change here locally along the coast, but notice those inland east bay valleys dropping into the 70s. So a big drop, almost 20 degrees cooler than the temperatures we saw yesterday. And we are beginning to see those changes on the satellite as the late season trough of pressure brings rain to the pacific northwest. That is going to enhance the on shore cooling. Well see kickin in full effect. Looks like wednesday, thursday, maybe into friday, notice the showers very close to eureka and crescent city. Thats pretty unusual, right, for the first week of summer. As we head into the weekend, well continue to see the dip in the jet stream with a trough of low pressure for a little warmer as the high builds back into Southern California. The bottom line, no real signs of heat. Pretty good air quality and breezy and cooler will certainly be the trend the middle part of the week. San francisco coastal temperatures starting to see more low clouds, cooling mid week. And valley highs which have been in the 90s may not even see 80s wednesday and thursday. So thats something to note. It will be much cooler as we go through the second half of the week and warming up some for next weekend. At this point there is nothing to complain about. No. Nothing.
