Reporter yeah, laura, it definitely could cause confusion. It affects drivers for Rideshare Companies and also passengers. Instead of getting picked up down here at a curb, passengers are now going to have to walk across the skybridge behind me and to the roof of the domestic hourly parking garage. That is the new pickup area starting this morning for rideshare. It will take some getting used to. The airport is trying to help people who might be confused. There will be new signs in place this morning. And extra airport Staff Members will be standing by at the domestic terminal to make sure travelers know how to get to the new pickup zone. While there might be some confusion, the goal is to ease the traffic jam at the airport cu curbside. We spoke toe travelers and drivers getting ready for the change. I could see how it could be frustrating for people, a bunch of kids. You know . If anything its more of a hassle on the riders. They get here. From what i heard the signage is bad. Theres outrage by south bay Law Enforcement officers after Santa Clara County refuses to change its sanctuary policy. The county in the course operates all the Services Including the main jail at san jose. Kris sanchez live in san jose at Police Headquarters with a look at where we go from here. Kris . Reporter well, hi there, marcus. Overnight, the San Jose Police Officers Association put out a statement essentially saying this fight is not over over the sanctuary policy. The jail will continue to release inmates who are undocumented without notifying immigrations and Customs Enforcement regardless of whether they have violent records or hold requests from the federal government. The pressure has been growing but hit a critical point with the murder of a san jose woman bambi larson killed by a violent convict not held for deportation. All south bay Law Enforcement agencies, except for sunnyvale, signed a letter asking for that change in the sanctuary policy. The San Jose Police chief is frustrated that supervisor dan cortese is trying to keep them out of the court. It keeps us out of this business of trying to figure out who is documented, who is not documented and whether or not we should be keeping that kind of information here. Its not our business. This is not just a local issue. Its a national issue. And i know that i probably speak for most major city chiefs around this country when they say decisions like this are disappointing and frustrating at the same time. San jose poa says, immigrants have every right, along with every other resident, to be protected from violent criminals, notifying our federal Law Enforcement partners of the upcoming release of those individuals with a proven record of violent criminal behavior is the right thing to do, and we will keep pushing until this is done.
