The thieves took at least 3,000, jewelry, heirlooms and red envelopes for the new year with money for the children and money for charity. Because were celebrating the new year and they probably think that we have a lot of money, and they probably know that theres red envelopes around, even though a lot of these red envelopes have a dollar bill inside. Reporter during the ordeal, the thieves hid the familys cell phones, but they were able to use an ipad to reach out for help. Neighbors shared this video of what they believed was a suspicious car in the area at the time, and today police were back in the neighborhood. The family is shaken up, and they want justice. Were glad that everybodys safe, but at the same time, we dont want this to happen to anybody ever again. When police arrived, two people had been shot. One of them died. The other has lifethreatening injuries. Police say the suspect took off, carjacked a vehicle, then ditched it. Police found him hiding inside an rv on alameda refusing to come out. At some point, investigators say an officer opened fire. Nobody was in hurt. The man is in custody this afternoon and people are calling him, again, a person of interest in the shootings and carjacking. Theyre not releasing his name. Cleanup continues inside a Little Caesars pizza in fremont. Around lunchtime, a car barreled through the front window at the thornton avenue location. Here are pictures and cell phone video shared with us by a customer. Fremont police say an 80yearold man was parking in front of the restaurant when he hit the the gas pedal instead of the brake.
