Not clear whether or not that driver might have been one of those six other drivers involved or associated with this crash or if it was somebody who was just driving recklessly alongside the crash scene. Again, one field sobriety test going on. We know that the chp is also doing measurements out here and asking that if you were in the area around 2 00, 101 at whipple and you saw something, to please Say Something because at this point they are not clear why this motorcyclist lost his life. To our other top story this morning, happening today on capitol hill, republicans and democrats are talking immigration, sparked by a deadline set by President Trump. This morning the negotiations start over daca and lawmakers hope that they can come up with a plan before yet another budget vote. Today in the bays Edward Lawrence is live in washington with what we are talking about is a big week ahead. Reporter a very big week ahead, marcus. Right now those negotiations are starting. Were going to hear a lot about immigration over the next two weeks or so because Congress Needs to make a decision to see if they can get to a deal. President trump has Given Congress a deadline of february 5th for an immigration plan to come to his desk. Any plan would address protecting undocumented immigrants brought to this country as children known as d. R. E. A. M. Ers. To solve this problem we are going to have to have compromise. No one is going to get 100 of what they want but this solves the problem longterm and the president went there. Some democrats are ready to make a deal, adding the Democratic Base needs to get on the same page. I think the president did the right thing by laying out where he wants to be, where he thinks the starting point is. We have to decide do we go large, do we go medium or do we go small. The president says he wants funding for a southern border wall, changes to chain migration coming into the u. S. And an end to the visa lottery program. In exchange he says he would sign a bill giving socalled d. R. E. A. M. Ers a path to citizenship after 10 to 12 years. Those here illegally we should not be granting a path to citizenship. That is wrong and its inconsistent with the promises we made to the working men and women of this country. The 99 ranch market in san jose was shut down last year because of a roach problem. If a criminal can access the atms inner workings and its processor and gain access to the banks is inner network thats a vector that needs to be protected and is potentially an area that criminals can exploit. Halfmoon bay starts to feel more comfortable at 10 00, we will keep the mid 60s throughout the day with a mix of sun and clouds. Wont be all bright and clear. We do still have this storm system thats bringing some clouds, especially that rain just to the north of us. So all of the rain stays north of the bay area, but we will see those clouds rolling by at times today. We talked about the super blue blood moon eclipse, that happening on wednesday morning. Hopefully we will get all of those clouds out of here by then, it does look like we will see mostly clear skies. The eclipse begins at 3 48 in the morning. Why do we have all of these colors and names with it . It will be a supermoon because it will be about 13 brighter because it will be closer to the earth, that makes it appear larger and brighter. Its a blue moon because its the second full moon of the month and we call the second full moon of the month a blue moon. It will be a blood moon because when that eclipse starts to happen it will appear bright red. So it will be definitely a spectacle and something to see. It happens right before sunrise on wednesday morning and of course we will keep telling you about it, make sure you get out there and see it. It will be in the upper 60s by the end of the week in San Francisco this week. By the end of the week we are talking about a lot of dry weather here and temperatures well above normal. So we will have a dry week and sometimes we get these dry spells in the middle of winter. Well, this is what we are going to see now. Mike, you have an update on that Traffic Alert in redwood city. The scene behind me, this was video taken earlier this morning, a crash and presumably that motorcycle involved in a deadly crash, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene, thats why we had that investigation blocking a majority of lanes until just minutes ago. As you see chp had to do quite a bit of investigation there. We will look at your map. Kris sanchez was asked to leave the scene there, chp told them they have to clear because theyre reopening lanes and kris sent a tweet to me that they are clearing lanes as we speak. We should see good recovery northbound 101 from woodside, slowing up to the scene at whipple. May be activity on the shoulder but no need to reroute. This will be a better situation as far as the traffic flow goes. The rest of the bay an easy drive. Crash southbound 880 at winton is the crash im following, may be a car fire in the area. Getting over toward the bay bridge no major issues. Slowing toward hayward and that is the concern. The bay bridge toll plaza does have the backup in the cash lanes over off to the right approach. We will continue to follow that but your travel time getting there from highway 4 is still just 15 minutes. Marilyn hartman who has earned the nickname over the past few years after boarding numerous planes without a ticket has been arrested again. She was taken into custody early dwred morning after being shotted at Ohare Airport in chicago. A couple days ago the judge ordered her to stay away from all chicago airports after she was arrested for boarding a flight from chicago to london earlier this month. Hartman has been arrested for trying to board flights at sfo and san jose without a ticket. Authorities no arizona are shedding new light on a Good Samaritan who used his own gun to rescue a skate trooper who was ambushed. Now, this is newly released interview of that interview thomas yak southeast saw did following a shooting incident. He and his girlfriend were driving to Southern California when they drove up to a crash scene. There investigators say an armed suspect had shot a deputy in the shoulder and was savagely beating him. He then took out his own gun and shot and killed that suspect. The suspect was still on him. I yelled at the suspect to get off him, the officer said, help me, please. The suspect said, shut up. So getting the kids out the door for school, it is going to be a chilly one with mid 40s but look at this afternoon, reaching into the mid 60s so we will talk about whats ahead for the next several days and even the weekend, thats coming up in just a few minutes. Now to a developing story in the east bay, the search continues this morning for a driver who ran over a Richmond Police officer during a sideshow. This happened early sunday morning and this right here is Instagram Video of that sideshow. Today in the bays pete suratos joins us live from the Richmond Police department this morning with the latest on the investigation and an update as well on the officers condition this morning. What do we know, pete . Reporter good morning. Lets hope that that officer is doing well. I did reach out to Richmond Police, waiting to hear back, of course it is pretty early in the morning. At last check we do know that that officer was recovering in a hospital with serious injuries, but they are still looking for the suspect who caused all of this during that sideshow that took place in richmond over the weekend. I know we showed you guys a clip of that Instagram Video, we will show it to our viewers once again. This was a scene near the Richmond Police department when this all took place off of cd[c boulevard. Officers were able to get there quickly because it was so close to the Police Station and thats when that officer got injured as he was waving the drivers to stop this sideshow when it was taking place. His injuries include broken bones, cuts and a road rash, but its the proximity of the sideshow to the Police Department thats really got neighbors talking. Its really residential, never hear anything so close to the Police Department. It really kind of gave us a sense of security that this wouldnt happen but unfortunately it looks like it does. You could hear the noise, it was just crazy. Reporter now, this was one of four sideshows that took place in the east bay over the weekend. At one of the sideshows in oakland someone shined a laser at a chp helicopter working the scene. Officers arrested that person who now faces multiple felony charges including potential federal violations for shining that laser at an aircraft. When it comes to this richmond case they are still looking for the driver, they dont have a description but they are saying the driver was last scene driving a black sedan. If you have any information to help with this case contact police. Live in richmond, pete suratos for today in the bay. Happening today the man charged in the driving well, driving and struck and killed two little girls from antioch will be back in court. 23yearold noe saucedo is charged with two counts of murder. He will appear before a judge in martinez this afternoon. This is video from his First Court Appearance last week. Saucedo was going chased which sheriffs deputies at the time of that crash. Earlier this month. The sisters lenexy and Camila Cardoza were struck by that truck that saucedo was driving. They did not survive. 5 35 right h pnow. Classes at san jose state today are supposed to go on as planned. These are live pictures from the scene. You see the cleanup that remains. This happened after a water main break yesterday that sent water gushing across the campus. Crews say a pipe broke near two ses dense halls sending a cascade of water near san carlos and ninth street. It took more than three hours to shut off the water. At one point Campus Police had to stop students from trying to cross through the water. Definitely did not expect to come back to this. I wasnt here when it blew, but its a mess. Repair crews are supposed to work at least through the morning. The school says the damage is relatively minor and the problem has not impacted water service. In the east bay another water main break caused this destruction in hayward, including in sync hole. The main burst yesterday morning sending water and mud down highland near mission boulevard. Firefighters put up sandbags in front of homes to prevent possible flooding. Two cars had to be removed from the sinkhole. New details now on a Homicide Investigation this weekend near a san jose school. Police are now saying that it all began with a fight. This happened late saturday night on san samone way here the daniel laron school. Officers responded just before midnight and found a man suffering from serious injuries. Paramedics rushed him to the hospital where he later tied. Investigators say that they dont yet know what the fight was about and no suspects have been arrested. The victims name has not been a man is behind bars accused of attacking a bart station agent. This happened at oaklands lake merritt station this weekend. Officers say that man damaged pay phones and then sprayed a fire[ agent. The suspect was taken to the John George Psychiatric Pavilion for an evaluation. The agent was not injured. The incident comes in the middle of a bart fare crack down. Another three people were detained for failing to pay for their trips on friday. Commuters who take the bus from pacifica and halfmoon bay may want to attend one of two meetings this week. They want Public Feedback on improving and expanding the bus service to and from the coast. The meeting is tomorrow night in halfmoon bay. The marin ij reports the county has applied for a grnt to study a plan to speed up bus service. urjz officials are looking at letting buses drive on the shoulders of highway 101. Right now the paper says that buses have to make pickups on the right side and then cross all lanes of traffic to get back to the carpool lanes on the left. A loyal member of the antioch Police Department now headed into retirement. This is leroy, he has worked almost five years on the force. Its more than half his life. Leroy is now eight years old and in dog years he certainly qualified for his pension. Police say leroy helped nap ten suspects during his career. He is going to spend retirement with the same partner he shared his k9 patrols are, officer mcdonald along with officer mcdonalds family. Good for leroy. Downtown leroy dog. Smooth drive around most of the bay. Its early in the commute but we had early problems in redwood city, that crash, though, investigation all has cleared up heading north past whipple road. That was a deadly crash we had followed since the beginning of this show. All lanes clear here. The other issues i told you about in the east bay, the crash on the peninsula was at whipple ave, this crash whipple road on the east bay southbound 880 just past highway 92, slowing, a motorcycle down here as well, but this one is out of the roadway and sounds like everybody is all right. As we look a little farther north, there is the car fire activity and slowing we expect through hayward. The car fire not a major distraction. Getting over toward the bay bridge an easy drive. Drive times 18 minutes from the highway 4 to the bay bridge backup. Lets look at next weekends forecast already. So you may still be dreaming about the weekend you just had, looking forward to next weekend. The weather is going to be amazing. Look at this, upper 60s for the coast and bay and for the inland areas up to about 70 degrees mostly sunny skies, sunday more of the same. We will continue on with some sunshine even though we will be thinking i think we need some rain, but for the weekend we will be seeing that continue to hold off. Going up to lake shasta this weekend, look at these temperatures, we dont get this in january, mid 60s throughout the weekend with some sunshine, even for monterey look at that, 70 to 72 degrees. Saturday will be a really nice day with mostly sunny skies. Then if you are going to kirkwood going to the sierra you will be able to ski with some 50 degree temperatures all throughout the weekend and we will be watching that snow pack dwindling down so maybe now is your time to go.
