A river otter is found out of the water and wandering one unusual wounds. The otter was found near the safeway in walnut creek. Someone is shooting the otter. Reporter animal control found the otter stumbling at this safeway. And an xray revealed it had a traumatic past. That is awful. Reporter river otters can sometimes be seen. An adult male was found out of the water. Clearly in need of help, Animal Services brought the otter to lindsey wildlife experiences. The otter was badly hurt with gashes on his face and struggling to breathe. An x ray showed six bb gun pellets lodged in his head and neck. Because his injuries were so severe, the vets couldnt rehab the otter. He was put down. Animal lovers who have seen other otters disgusted someone would shoot a defenseless animal. It is just cruel. Thieves are targeting apartments ransacking them and looking for cash. Thieves are targeting apartment buildings in the san rafael district. Getting in through unlocked doors. Burglaries have ransacked eight apartments in just over a month stealing valuables and cash. Many are immigrants and dont use banks. Neighbors say the theft could be crippling. It could be rent money. Their rent is due, they send money back to their families. A loss of this nature could be months worth of income for them. They are scared to report this to us.
