Even the south bay hills, san jose, santa clara valley, looking at the gusty winds, decreasing as we approach midnight. Tuesday morning, winds less of an issue. Rainfall increasing after 7 00 a. M. , not toad. Theres 11 00 a. M. North bay, San Francisco northward looks to be in the heaviest of the rain. By 6 00 to 8 30, right there, palo alto into san jose, probably the main event of the storm coming up from 5 00 p. M. To 8 30 or 9 00 tomorrow evening. Then skies start to clear a little bit heading into tuesday as we transition out of the rain into scattered showers for your tuesday forecast. Top rain totals, the clear bullseye looks to be over the Santa Cruz Mountains. More than 3 inches of rain possible there. More likely about a half inch to 1. 5 inches of rain for the inner portions of the bay and up here in the north bay hills, these areas in purple and red. In the fire zones, could be some of the top rainfall areas with this storm where some of the higher peaks could look at 2 to 3 inches of rain. The other story is to the south. The thomas fire north of santa barbara, biggest rain totals will be focused to the south. Its also taking more of that sierra moisture and tossing the highest snow totals mainly south of highway 50. These snow levels will be pretty high. Plan on winterlike driving from monday through midday tuesday. We could see 2 feet of snow about 7,000 feet out of the storm. Once the storm clears out, notice the extended forecast. Slight risk of a few showers thursday in the north bay. Things look to stay dry until about tuesday, january 16th.
