One thing we know for sure, he did not leave behind his frustration over a form top aides cooperation with a new book. He tweeted late into the night calling steve bannon a total loser, and claiming that he cried when he got fired and begged for his job. When the president left the white house friday were going to camp david, we have a lot to work on, a lot of things to accomplish. Reporter he gave the Cold Shoulder to reporters. Will steve bannon be fired, sir . Reporter he had already unleashed the heat on twitter about former chief strategist, nowderided as the leaker, sloppy steve bannon. Who cooperated with the headlinegrabbing book, fire and fury, released four days early after the president s lawyer tried to block it. President trump insisted he gave author Michael Wolff zero access. I never spoke to him for book. But wolff told savannah exclusively on today i absolutely spoke to the president. Whether he realized it was an interview or not, i dont know. Reporter wolff writes that trumps inner circle questions his fitness to serve. Ive never questioned his mental fitness. I have no reason to question his mental fitness. Overnight they released photos of the meetings at camp david. And senior democrats say that the president proposed a request for 18 billion to fund his immigration border wall in exchange for trying to smooth the way for some young immigrants who were brought here illegally, trying to focus on what theyre planning and a little bit less about the book. We are learning more about an fbi investigation into the Clinton Foundation thats apparently been going on for months. This as two republican senators asked the Justice Department and the fbi to look into the man behind that very controversial and unsubstantiated report about the president and his ties to russia. As you said, two major developments are now raising the stakes in the partisan battles over an fbi investigation involving Hillary Clinton and one of the congressional panels looking into russias election meddling. This morning, two Top Republican senators investigating russias interference in the 2016 president ial election are turning the tables, calling for a criminal investigation of christopher steele, the former british spy behind the nowinfamous socalled trump dossier. The damning and disputed dossier contains explosive allegations about President Trumps purported links to russia. In a letter to the department of justice and fbi, senators Chuck Grassley and Lindsey Graham say steele may have misled federal investigators about his communications with the media about the dossier. Democrats are dismissing it as a distraction from the ongoing russia probe. I have seen no evidence, none whatsoever, that would justify this criminal referral. Seems more like an effort to distract from the real priority, what should be the priorities of the committee. Reporter adding to democrats outrage, a revelation that the fbi has renewed an investigation into the Clinton Foundation. At issue, pregnawhether Clinton Foundation donors received favorable treatment from the department of state when Hillary Clinton was secretary of state. President trumps openly called for clinton to be investigated. Branding his former rival crooked hillary, and tweeting, where is our Justice Department . A clinton spokesman calling the investigation a sham, adding, the goal is to distract from the indictments, guilty pleas, and accusation of treason from trumps own people at the expense of our justice systems integrity. Weve learned the fbi revived the investigation months ago. Its not clear whether theres any new evidence involved or if President Trumps rhetoric prompted the fbi to reopen its probe of the Clinton Foundation. Craig . Jeff bennett, thank you. One of the more troubling allegations in Michael Wolffs book is that the president is mentally unfit for office. When he talked to savannah yesterday, he said that according to steve bannon, hes totally lost it. Youve got sources inside and close to the administration. Does this jive with what youve heard, as well . Well, the books author paints a full portrait of what weve heard in whispers and bits and pieces the last year in washington. We of course had senator bob corker from tennessee a few months back question the president s competence and fitness for the job. The book is a really devastating portrayal, bringing it together. And raising some alarms about the president s mental capacity. Lets talk about steeb for a moment. Not only steve bannon for a moment. Not only is he a potential backer, is he done in washington or just wounded . I would say hes severely wounded now. I dont think anybodys done, especially in trump world where we see people rise and fall and rise again. But steve bannon losing the Mercer Family support, that is significant. They were his bankrollers, his financial backers. He was hoping to use their resources to become a powerful figure in shaping the Midterm Election this year. Congressional republicans are on the attack, once again going after the clintons, the Clinton Foundation. You have senator graham, senator grassley going after the guy whos behind this controversial dossier, recommending to the Justice Department that they file charges against christopher steele. Whats this really about, phillip . Well, i think theyre both significant developments. In part, theyre in response to the pressure that President Trump has been exerting over the last several months to try to investigate the clintons, investigate the dossier, investigate all these other things that are separate from the russia probe underway with Robert Mueller into whether the Trump Campaign had any coordination or collusion with russian officials to impact the election last year. President trump is all about the economy, tweets about the low unemployment rate. 2017 saw the weakest job creation since 2010. Is his economic Success Story all smoke and mirrors, or is it real . Another headline this morning two planes collided at torontos National Airport overnight forcing passengers to evacuate via the emergency slides in freezing cold conditions. One plane with with 174 people on board was waiting to go to a gate when it was struck by another jet being towed away from the gate. Flames erupted on the wing of the packed plane. Remembericreational marijuane legal but the San Francisco board of directors didnt approve regulations for recreational pot sales until last month. The city is still completing application inspections. Several more are waiting for approval. Acting San Francisco mayor london breed officially announced she wants the job permanently. The centers for Disease Control says nearly 40 states now are reporting moderate to high flu activity. So far the flu season the number of cases is far higher than last year and it could get worse. Natalie is here with advice about how to keep you and your family safe. Dr. Natalie, we hear about the flu every year. It seems as if theres the problem. Whats different this year . Theres a few ways to have a bad flu season. One is you have increased flu activity. The other way is to actually have a strain thats predominates thats particularly dangerous and that the vaccine doesnt cover that well. Guess what, were kind of having the perfect storm of that. Were having increased activity. We are having a vaccine thats covering a couple different strains and the one predominating is the one not covered by the vaccine. As you pointed out, we have over 40,000 cases reported now as opposed to 14,000 cases last year at this time. Heres the challenge. If you say the vaccine, we hear its 10 effective, there are so many who say i wont get a flu shot. Exactly. If you get a flu shot, its going to cover three or four different strains. The 10 number is referring to one particular strain thats covered in those vaccines. It happens to be one of the more dangerous strains so thats important. The other strains are getting covered about 50 to 60 . If youre getting a shot chances are youre getting covered for the other strains. We believe the flu shot makes it less severe. Its not too late. Absolutely. One of the explanations were seeing the numbers is perhaps it has peaked a little earlier. Flu season lasts well into spring and we would expect cases to continue until february. It takes two weeks for the flu shot to kick in. You still get it now. Youll get your antibodies in two weeks. You will be protected and youll protect other people in your community who are more vulnerable to getting sick from the flu. What should you do if you still get the flu . If you think youve come down with the flu, the first thing do is pick up the phone and call your doctor. Should you get tested . Sometimes its a false negative. You either get tested for the flu or you get started on antiviral medicine preferably within the first 48 hours. There are a couple different ones that are available. Thank you so much. This is going to dive down and bring snow to areas like in indianapolis. Its also going to pick up moisture. The comp nbination of these mea snow for chicago. On monday we could see a couple of lighter snow showers across the rest of the northeast and lake effect snow will kick in as well. Its a clipper system so its fast moving but we could see a quick one to 2 inches of snow. Off of lake erie and we could see up to 10 inches, especially in those areas that are used to seeing that lake effect snow. That is certainly going to be an issue as we go into monday morning. The rain on the Southern Side and were still expecting a bit of a wet start here across the bay area. You can see weve got a system moving through, but right now, the majority of that rain is sticking further off to the south all the way through stockton and we can expect to keep some of those lingering showers. San jose has seen some of those showers pushing through. These rain chances will continue at least through the 10 00 a. M. First things first, Interest Rates going up this year. That means that folks who have some debt means the debt could be going up as well. How should we be prioritizing our debt . We are about good debt bad debt. Its bad debt and better debt. Theres no great debt at all. The worst debt is that which is unsecured and resolving. Thats like credit cards and personal loans. Its designed to keep you in debt and Interest Rates tend to be very high. Thats the debt we want to go after first. The tax plan wepeople are wondering did you have another one . No. If you live in a high tax state people want to know how they can save money with this new tax plan. One thing we learned about the tax plan is theres a lot over which we do not have control. Up until hours before the bill was passed, major pieces of that that could change our lives were moving in and out. There are still things we can control. The 401 k, we reduce our taxes today. Then i also recommend maxing out the match, thats the free money you get from your employer, and then begin looking at the roth ira where youre taking aftertax money but its going to benefit you tax free in the future. That way you have something you can control in those circumstances. A lot of families this time of year, they start to create their family budget. Are there certain tools out there that you might recommend for families who are looking at creating a budget for their household . The most important thing for success financially in a household is your cash flow system. That means we have to bring up the b word, budget. I think that there are a couple gri great tools out there. Mint. Com or you others. Can i ask you about saving accounts . There have been a lot of people who say the saving account Interest Rates are so low its not worth it. Would you recommend a good Old Fashioned savings account . We dont save in savings accounts to make money. Thats what investing in our retirement account is for. Since the year 2000 weve seen Interest Rates decline. Banks are going to be slow to increase those. However, you can make more if you look at fdic insured online banks. There you have an opportunity to make a little bit more interest than with the brick and mortars that have that additional overhead. There continues to be a lot of talk. It seems each day were breaking records with the dow or nasdaq or one of the other markets. Is it too late for folks to get in now and still make some money on stocks . Its too late to get in on the over 50 plus record highs from 2017. It is. But if youre investing for the long term, its never too early. People ask me if i get in now and the market goes down, thats possible. Perhaps even likely. But if youre investing for 10, 20, 30 years down the road, it doesnt matter what the market looks like a day or a year from now. It matters what it looks like in the future. What are some other things to keep in mind as we look to get our personal finances in order . Dont spread yourself too th thin. If youre going to make a couple moves, find one or two good tools that can help you and then stick with that. Remember why youre doing this. To reduce your stress.
