We were updated a few minutes ago, 10,000 acres are burning, zero containment. We have learned that one person has died in a car crash associated with the fire. More than 500 people have been evacuated from their homes. This is near the town of santa paula. Theres an a power outage in Santa Barbara, were going to monitor the fire and report back during the newscast. A shooting outside a target store. Police say they have a suspect in custody but there are still a lot of loose ends. Terry mcsweeney was the first on the scene. He joins us from the parking lot where the police are still onsite looking for evidence. Reporter theyre still out here. The shooting took place at 6 00 this evening in front of this target store on 40th street. Can you see the police still processing. A witness tells me there was some kind of a scuffle between two men next to that bullet rilded dodge durango, just before the bullets started firing another witness tells me exactly what the gun fire sounded like. All of a sudden you hear pop, pop, pop, pop. And then another pop, pop. Reporter another witness said at least 10 shots were fired. We have a shooting. We have two people in area hospitals with gun shot wounds and one person in custody. Reporter both victims in critical conditions one found at the scene near the dodge durango, you can see the bullet holes in the door and window. They said the second victim walked toward the home depot. The man in custody was found a couple blocks from the scene. Were not sure his involvement yet. Everyone started running into target. This man inside the store. Really scared. They were shaking. By their faces, they wanted to leave but we had them like stay for their safety. Reporter 20 minutes after being locked down, target allowed customers to leave. Police say three guns have been recovered. Police say they do not know what led up to the shooting but they want to assure the public there is no further threat, everyone involved is in custody or in the hospital. Theyve been the culprit of many a fire in southern california. Its the driest wind you can get. Its blowing from the east off toward it is west. Its going to lower humidity and see them as we head into tomorrow morning. For any of you that have friends and family in the area, i want to put a map perspective on this. The winds today 20 to 45 Miles Per Hour, the latest information is this is a 10,000 acre fire that started near highway 150 and highway 126. Its just off to the north. You havo high off to the north of the fire. You have ventura off to the coastline. All of those areas near santa paula, especially off towards the north and west really going to be under the biggest threat of the flames over the next 12 hours. It is large and it is strong. And basically the clockwise motion around this is helping to drag down the wind and the chilly temperatures. That really has been the most damaging and annoying thing throughout today. I think well get through the temperatures for tomorrow, just bundle up and know in the tri valley we could get down to 39. Coldest will be in the north bay at 37. San francisco 45 and were talking sunny skies throughout the bay. Well see a good amount of warming tomorrow.
