The ordeal began outside in bay view market at about 10 30. A clerk inside the market told me the van was stolen right out front as the female driver made deliveries to his store. She was assaulted and left behind and a gold suv followed as the car jacker sped away in the lottery van. A patrol unit pulled over the suv and four men were detained and at least three of them arrested. At about the same time another unit stopped the van right inside the Alice Griffith Housing Project after a short chase. Thats when shots were fired. The suspect exited the vehicle. An officer involved shooting occurred. That suspect was transported by ambulance to San Francisco General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
