A plane crashed into a home. Within the past hour. Here is thom jensen with the late details. Reporter witnesses say they saw the single engined cessna just before it came down. It went so fast and then crash. Reporter san jose fire got the call about a plane in distress about three. A fire spokesman said it was a report of equipment failure. The pilot trying to circle back about a half mile away. It was thankful it hit where it did. It crashed into a converted garage. Tonight they are in temporary red cross housing. They are not going to be able to go back in sometime but i think it is housable. Reporter the owner of the airplane has been on the scene to want saying one of his airplanes has never crashed before. The last reported crash there was july 23, 2017. A cessna 172 single engine plane like the one today crashed into a fence. Before that on august 10, 2016, a small plane failed to take off. Rolled off the runway again crashing into a fence. No one was hurt in either of those crashes. A deadly discovery off the coast. Coast guard have identified the operator of that boat that was spo spotted going around and around. Sergio quintana live with new details in this still developing story. Reporter that boat was pulled out of the water a few hours ago and since has been hauled out of here by san mateo sheriffs deputy, the boat was inspected by some of the deputies. According to the coast guard, when the boat launched, Tuan Tom Tran was at the controls. They pulled his passengers lifeless body from the water. That person did not have any obvious wounds or injuries. It doesnt appear suspicious at this time and we are trying to rule out everything we know. We know that individual wasnt wearing a life jacket and that jacket was critical to our search and rescue efforts. Reporter coast guard and local agencies called at about one this afternoon. Just south of pillar point harbor. Some smaller boats did search for tran most of the afternoon and into the evening. More than 200thousand children in california will go to bed tonight without a home of their own, and in the bay area a growing number 200,000 children in california will go to bed without a bhome of their own. Reporter one of the most vulnerable victims of the housing crisis. Across the bay area, 20,000 kids and teens were homeless for, at least, part of the school year. What is being done to protect children and we expose why some pregnant mothers are being turned away from shelters. Patric patricia do y patricia dowel is 29years old. She was just fouryear old when her mothers drug addiction pushed them on the streets. How did would you describe your childhood. Lonely, i didnt get love most of the time. It is a pain that gets deeply rooted in you. Your wounds heal but that doesnt mean they go away. Reporter patricia placed in foster care, but at 16, started living mostly on her own. Is part of you worried that your daughter might have to spend some of her childhood homeless like you did . That is a worry. Moms with children, even newborns begging on the street. One nonprofit tells us it has seen 224 homeless pregnant women alone. And the number of homeless women giving births has spiked 76 since 2010. There are women who have to spend most of her pregnancy on the streets. Reporter a registered nurse with the department. Can homeless parents provide for their kids. These women have everything that a baby needs but not having shelter makes the things difficult to provide. Reporter children in imminent danger can be taken away from their parents. But simply being homeless isnt reason enough. Because the lack of permanent housing doesnt qualify as abuse or neglect. San francisco shelters boast 137 beds each night most pregnant women arent given priorities until they are seven months along. San Francisco Mayor ed lee.
