We actually have a big announcement. Im not going to say it now, cause that will mess up monday but i do have [ drum roll ] jimmy no, no, not yet. Now he gets the drum roll. Yeah, no, we have been raising a lot of money. We raised about 2. 5 million since february for Chicago Public schools. [ cheers and applause ] and the years not over yet. So we have more announcements coming. I think monday when we get back to chicago. But yeah, its been a great campaign. Its ran by social works, my nonprofit 501 c 3 . And weve been trying to collect funds to try and, you know, one, get better schooling for kids in the inner city and then also just, you know, create a bigger conversation about funding formulas in the u. S. And how we choose to fund certain schools over other schools. Jimmy interesting. Well youre doing [ cheers and applause ] that is tricky. Youre doing a thing too. Youre starting a thing called the twilight awards. Yes. Jimmy and this is exciting to me. cause i mean, you were saying theres so many music award shows. Theres a lot. Jimmy there really is. Almost too many. Too many. Jimmy yeah. One way to think about it. Yeah. But theres nothing of this idea that you have. And what is this idea for the twilight . So the twilight awards will be hosted in chicago in 2 2018, in june of 2018. And it will be the first awards show of ours that is honoring principals, teachers, students and parents that show excellence throughout the school year. And it should be an amazing night. Were hoping to have a lot of special guests there, a lot of special performances and take a a moment to honor the people that do some of the most important work in our country. Jimmy yeah. I started 19, 20 years old, you know, with a ford van and a a uhaul trailer. You know, traveling all over the place. Jimmy yeah, and now doing stadiums. And some of those guys are still with me. Back up back up we met in 1994. The first time we met was in 1994 at a crs, which is country radio seminar. Jimmy look at you, by the way. I know, its like, we got this. Jimmy like, it was exactly 3 45 p. M. [ laughter ] i remember jimmy everything. Very vividly. Jimmy really . It was a new faces show. We were back stage and we all took a picture. A lot of new artists. Clay walker was in there. A few other artists. And yeah, and that was the first time i met faith. And i had a mullet. [ laughter ] that was so sexy. I mean, like yeah. [ cheers and applause ] jimmy why did it ever go away . Why did it ever go away . And the ugliest red jacket youve ever seen in your life. I had on. Both of us yeah. And i looked at her and was smitten right away. Yeah. Jimmy and do you remember falling in love with him too . Do you remember falling in love . No, she didnt fall in love with me right away. [ laughter ] jimmy it took some time. You had to put some work in. Took a lot of time, are you kidding me . Jimmy yeah, exactly. It wasnt that bad. Jimmy oh yeah. Really . It wasnt that long. Jimmy but look, now you have three beautiful daughters. Yeah. Jimmy you were telling me this funny story about your eldest daughter gracie . Gracie, yeah. Jimmy when she went on her first date. Yeah her first i was on the road working. And they give me a call and they said, you know, gracie is going out on a date. Do you mind if she goes before you meet the guy . They said, i met him. Hes a really nice guy. Everybody weve done all the research. Everybodys a really nice guy. [ laughter ] jimmy yeah, you gotta do that. Oh, heck yeah. We put our secret service guys on it. They checked him out. Everythings good. And i said, okay, but hes gotta come they can go out tonight, but ill be home tomorrow. So around noon, i want him to come by the house, just so i can say hi to him and look him in the eye and shake his hand. Jimmy oh man i can just imagine. So i get home at like 2 00 in the morning. And i get up the next morning and were doing a barbecue. So im in the kitchen and i forget that hes coming. So i have a white apron on, and a knife and im trimming meat up so ive got like chunks of meat all over this white apron. Jimmy blood everywhere. Blood everywhere. And the door rings the doorbell rings. And i go and answer the door and theres this kid who was dating gracie, standing there. Ive got a knife in my hand and a bloody apron on. And it worked out really well. [ laughter and applause ] jimmy you dont mess. Dont mess. Right. Right. Jimmy the soul to soul tour starts again this summer. You wrapped the first leg of the tour. This is your first tour faith in ten years . Ten years. Since 20067 was the last time i was on the road. Yeah, ive just been hanging out. Jimmy yeah, exactly. Yeah, right. Yeah, no. Please. But i mean, youve obviously worked on this one. Is it odd to get back on the road and go, oh, i remember this routine. It was it was frightening at first because i had the pleasure of performing with one of the greatest performers in the business of music, period. Honest to god. He is. [ cheers and applause ] i was nervous at first. It had been a while. Ten years. But then once i got up there, after a few shows, im like, bam. Jimmy you got it back. I love it. I love it jimmy i mean, youre great at it. Obviously you know what youre doing. Aww. Jimmy what made you do an album together, finally . Well, gosh. Tim . Well, we wanted to do a weve wanted to do a record a a long time together. Weve been married 21 years. Jimmy youve done songs together, yeah. And weve done [ cheers and applause ] jimmy good for you guys. And weve done a handful of not quite as many songs as people think we have done together. Weve done a handful of songs together. And so this time around, when we decided we were going to do a tour together, we thought, were going to have to do an album together. We want to an album maybe the only album we ever get to do together. We both turned 50 this year, which was a cool year for us. Jimmy gosh you look fantastic. [ cheers and applause ] i love you guys.
