Roads slick out there of course because of the rain. And its going to be raining for a while so we might as well get used to this for today as we will have rounds of heavy rain moving in. You can see it all on the radar right now, even in spots where its starting to taper off for a while, its going to start to ramp back up like San Francisco, marin county and also moving into the peninsula, right there near pacifica. As we get a closer look into the south bay some pockets of some rain also pretty heavy starting to move in as weve just now started to see this rain move in within the last hour or so and as we get a closer look at palo alto down to Mountain View and los altos a steady rain coming down. A little bit of a break moving into santa clara but downtown san jose still some steady rain, rainfall rates coming down at three tenths of an inch of rain per hour, weve also seen the same around los gatos and that will be moving off towards the east. 101 is going to be very soggy, also wet in fremont right now, moving up into the east bay and the trivalley. Some lighter showers there, but its about to get a little bit heavier. We are also taking a break in oakland right now, but dont expect that to last very long. If youre getting ready to head out the door maybe now is a good time before it really starts to come down. So we will still have waves of rain moving through, it will get more intense, still some gusty winds in here but the wind advisories have expired and we are going to still see this rain just training over the peninsula into the south bay and the east bay for at least the next several hours, even into the afternoon we are still going to have some rain coming down and even after sunset this rain will continue finally moving out early tomorrow morning. So with this sitting over the same area we may see additional rainfall rates up to close to two inches of rain across the coast in spots like halfmoon bay, san jose a little bit less than an inch there and an inch rainfall totals possible for the trivalley. So a lot to watch here as we go through the day. Temperaturewise it is going to be cool only in the upper 50s to low 60s today. Antioch expect a high of 60 degrees. A live look outside shows that it is really starting to get soggy in the south bay. You need all of the rain gear today. So we are talking about the umbrella, the rain jacket, also the boots and something nice and warm to wear like some long sleeves, preferably a sweater because i get cold easily. Its going to be one of those days where you do have to add on a lot of layers and lug stuff around. Then for tomorrow we can drop the umbrella, saturday is looking good, sunday the rain does hold off for most of sunday but another round of showers moving in late sunday night into early monday morning may give us a wet start to early next week. I will be tracking more of this. How much rain weve measured is coming up. Mike is saying highway 4 is blocked by a crash. We are talking about the slick roads, kari mentioned the rain moving around but its moved around overnight all night and thats why we have slick roadways all over the bay, thats this green highlighting indicating where you might find slick roadways. We will go out to highway 4, it started like many of the other crashes ive been reported, a solo car, a single car spins out, hits the Center Divide and then a second car crashed into it, no major injuries but the debris and the crash demands westbound highway 4 is currently blocked at a street. This is jamming folks upcoming out of the antioch out of the rio vista area. Other than that the commute moves smoothly and relatively light as we are a approaching that thanksgiving week this week, a lot of folks ease off on the commute this morning. Looking over towards east 80 at mcdonald, a disabled big rig in lanes, im worried about visibility and traction so slow through the area if youre headed up towards the carquinez bridge. The north bay, another usual spot. No delays over towards the bay bridge. Great news. Transit not reporting any problems but they may slow bart trains in that rain kicks in stronger and then palo alto, we will give you a live look at kari has been talking about that rain hitting the peninsula. Look at that big tail behind these cars. Very sparsely populated but you notice how the affects of one car driving through affects all that water kicking up on to windshields. So still tough visibility.
