The community and people from across the country have certainly come together in the wake of the shooting, showing support for the victims and survivors. President trump is flying to las vegas as we speak. He and the first lady will visit the area today to see the impact of the shooting that sadly left 58 people dead. More than 500 others were injured in that shooting. As the president prepares to travel to las vegas, we are getting a closer look into the investigation into that killing spree. Hundreds of rounds of ammunition in the suite of the Mandalay Bay Hotel and casino. Investigators uncovering multiple video cameras there. There were two cameras located in the hallway so the suspect could watch as Law Enforcement approached the room. There was another camera placed inside the Hotel Room Door peephole so he could see down the hallway. Reporter the fbi is reviewing images from the camera. Agents want to know why a week before the massacre, he transferred 100,000 to a bank account in the philippines. His girlfriend was there this week visiting relatives. Investigation with her is ongoing. Apparently, shes a person of interest. Reporter she was met by federal agents when she landed in los angeles overnight. They continue to get information about paddock and his life before the attack. He was a sick man, a demented man. We are looking into him very, very seriously. Reporter President Trump traveled to las vegas later today for the First Time Since the killing spree. Back to the investigation here, the same week that paddock transferred all the money to the philippines, he rented rooms in a highrise condominium overlooking a bigger Music Festival here. Heavenly father we come before you as people cry out in pain and sorrow. Hundreds came out to make sure etchebers husband and family know they are not alone. The 10 and 12yearold kids have questions about what happened. Why did he shoot mom. We dont have an answer. Her husband is a San Francisco police officer. He told her to run to safety as he helped a gunshot victim. Learning more about two other victims on the attack. A couple who grew up in the bay area. Bo taylor graduated from Fremont High School in the early 80s. Hefx a correctional lieutenant. They call him the nicest guy in the world and made everyone laugh. He lived in ox nard with his girlfriend, denise cohen, who was sadly also killed. She went to high school in san ramon. Her best friend says she was a ray of light. I know she was in a happy place. Its what she loved. She was dancing and singing and i think thats what she is doing right now in heaven. So much pain. The couple was actually in vegas to celebrate bos birthday. A fourth bay area victim grew up in san jose. 32yearold michelle vo who graduated from Independence High School. She is hard working and vivacious. In a letter to the interim city manager, the Vice President of stadium operations says shuting down the show could create a Public Safety threat. Police body cameras showing Police Officers shielding concert goers as they are trying to escape the bullets. Stephen paddock fired up to 11 minutes we are learning. He placed a camera in the hallway of this hotel so he can see Police Officers coming for him. It was a very Heroic Security guards shot during the search for the suspect. Reporter now, paddock had several homes. This is one of them. He purchased shotguns in nevada, utah, california and texas. Now, he modified them with a little known device known as a bunk stock. That allows stock guns to fire more rapidly. Now, people associate las vegas, me myself, with bright lights and the strip. After being here for three days, im learning this is a big small town filled with a lot of working class people. Again, the president is on his way here to las vegas. Now, when it comes to security, i had a chance to speak to fleet week officials last week prior to the las vegas mass shooting. They indicated security is their priority, number one for a large event like this. Officials will be working hand in hand with Law Enforcement agencies. With the bigger crowds here in San Francisco toward the end of the week, they are expecting arnds 1 Million People to show up. They are going to have a lot of security there, especially when the blue angels air show is taking place as well as the parade of ships. San Francisco Police are increasing the active patrols on land and water, but we can expect more focus following what took place in las vegas. As for the Bluegrass Festival, that annual free concert is taking place this weekend at golden gate park. We will see an increase in security presence there. Nbc bay area Investigative Reporter bigad got a chance to talk about the changes to security about the events following that las vegas mass shooting. Absolutely, i think, already, our Entertainment Venues like the bluegrass and the concerts are adding and beefing up security, working even closer with the Police Department about any holes or gaps. This morning, we learned a folsom soldier is recovering in las vegas, injured while shielding his z wife from gunfire during the shooting. Thousands of people came together to protect each other. Many of them were complete strangers. He and his wife, lauren sharp were in vegas celebrating their threeyear anniversary. Now, they are spending it inside a hospital. Lieutenant sharp was shot multiple times saving his wife. I was transported out with my wife, you know, and fellow americans are going to be there to help them. We need to recognize that. He and his wife are looking forward to returning to home to california. 6 46. New this morning, a group of neighbors in South Sacramento come together to stop a grass fire until fire crews arrive. This was the scene yesterday afternoon. Neighbors use shovels and hoses to stop the flames. One Good Samaritan was a 17yearold boy at a nearby skate park when he heard the commotion. All we heard was a loud bang. I heard it through my headphones. We rushed to each house here gathering water hoss throughout the neighborhood. Two homes, a garage and shed were damaged in the fire. Firefighters say it could have been worse. A group of firefighters managed to get out of the garage just before the boom came down. Investigators took a man into custody briefly in connection to the fire. He was released due to lack of evidence. Cleaning out coyote creek. Who could forget when it flooded hundreds of homes. Crews will remove vegetation. 40,000 people were affected during the february flood. As of last month, more than 100 people were living in temporary apartments or shelters. At 6 47, the president is on his way to las vegas to see the scene of the terrible shooting. Scott mcgrew, he will also meet with First Responders who saved so many lives. He will. We presume he will speak about the tragedy. It will be, we expect, a somber moment for the president. It is fair to say, the president has trouble with somber moments. He said the shooting in las vegas was, quote, in many ways a miracle because more people were not killed. The president is just back from puerto rico where 34 people died. Then, even at recess, you are going to have Cool Temperatures and then as they are walking home from school or biking, whatever you are doing today, its going to be in the mid70s by the time the last school bell rings. We are in the low 70s in San Francisco for the weekend. Very nice weekend ahead for all the fleet week activities. Inland areas, it will be a weekend where you have to try to find somewhere to cool off. Upper 80s. It doesnt look like well see many 90s. Thats good. As we head over to mike, not too good for the commute in the east bay. The chopper is up in the air, but not yet over the scene of the truck fire. I want to show you the commute. A standard build, but Castro Valley, dublin, the border where we have the problem, eastbound, typically the counter commute is the big commute right now past eden canyon road. The truck fire blocks two right lanes. The fire melted the fuel tanks on the tanker. Not an explosion but we have fuel so its an extended issue because likely a hazmat situation has to be addressed. Folks are hearing of this issue and may stay away from it. I see less traffic traveling away from the dublin interchange, but that may mean more traffic south 680. West of it, lets show you on waze z. You can see the slow moving traffic. 880 through hayward, the same thing shows up for the sensors. Out of Castro Valley, go toward fremont, if thats your route. That is less traveled. That is one alternate. You may want to stay toward Castro Valley. Im going to send you to the area where we typically have a lot of traffic.
