For the loved ones of those who died at this facility, the Rehabilitation Center at hollywood hills, its not the storm that has them most upset. This morning in the wake of hurricane irma, growing outrage over the death of eight patients from this sweltering florida nursing home, and the evacuation of 145 others. Some had body temperatures of 106 degrees says the state senator. That tells us those temperatures were very excessive, likely of 100 degrees in the facility. Authorities revealing one of the eight died on tuesday and turned the body directly over to the funeral home. It was not until wednesday at 3 00 a. M. The Fire Department got the first of 911 calls. A 78yearold carol is dead. When you put something into professional peoples hands, you think everything is going to be okay. The Nursing Homes administration maintaining the storm knocked out the power and the staff tinlcontinually checkn the patients wellbeing. One of whom paid with his life. The teenage suspect facing charges. Nbcs joe fryer has the story. Reporter new Court Documents identify 15yearold caleb sharpe as the suspect in the Deadly School shooting. According to an affidavit filed thursday, detectives say sharpe wanted to teach everyone a lesson about what happens when you bully others. Sharpes parents told detectives the teenager had written a suicide note over a week ago. This individual got sucked into a Counter Culture of violence. A culture is that enamored with school shooting. Reporter students who know the suspect, know his Youtube Channel show him firing guns. Its not clear if the weapons were real. On wednesday, investigators say sharpe brought an ar15 rifle and pistol to freeman high school. Court documents say he got the gun from his fathers large gun safe located at their home. Suspect in his teens. Reporter investigators say the suspect went to the schools second floor hallway and pulled out the rifle, which jammed. As he grabbed the handgun, sam strahan intervened but was shot twice and died. He is being remembered as a hero. He was always smiling around the halls. Super nice kid. Reporter strahans dad died in an accident on fathers day, compounding the loss for his mother. Three other students were shot in the attack. Theyre all recovering. The suspects family released a statement offering condolences. Its difficult. But theyre good, loving people. And then cassini became the first spacecraft to plunge between the rings. You feel like youre there and you can reach out and touch the rings. And beneath them, thats us right there, earth. Nasas unprecedented 20year, 5 billion mile journey bringing us closer to answering that cosmic question, are we alone . Revealing two of saturns icy moons that look a lot like earth. Those are rivers right there and these are seas. It shows the potential for the existence of life. But some of the six moons cassini discovered looks like nothing we have seen before. Cassini accomplished its mission and more. Now out of fuel, cassini is going out in a blaze of glory, plunging into saturns atmosphere at more than 75,000 miles an hour. Cassinis last transmission likely the light from its own fireball. I think cassini has left us with human kinds presence at another planet for 13 years, seeing things that we had never imagined. Is this a cool story or what . Scientists dont know for sure whether theres any life on sa turns moons that cassini explored. So nasa crashed cassini into saturns atmosphere. The social media giant remove ago feature that potentially allowed advertisers to target people with anti semantic views, including those who listed nazi party as their employer. The practice was exposed by reporters with the Nonprofit Group pro publica. You could say its automated antisemitism. Through a series of tests, ad buying platforms, reporters were able to target almost 2,300 people who expressed interest in jew hater and other troubling topics, too, like how to burn jews and why jews ruin the world. We paid 30 to promote our posts, which were just facebook posts about pro publica articles. They were approved within 15 minutes. Reporter good morning. Google is facing a lawsuit thats been filed on behalf of all women who have worked at the tech giant over the last four years. That could be 20,000 women. Its the latest development in an Ongoing Movement in Silicon Valley to address discrimination, harassment and pay equality. Google coming under fire once again. Three former female employees are suing the search giant for discriminating against women, by allegedly paying them less than men and denying them promotions. They say googles failure to pay female employees the same compensation for male employees for substantially similar work has been and is willful. The lead Attorney Says the women were motivated by what they thought were unfair business practices. They are seeking, not only to get compensation for themselves, but compensation for all 20,000 women. Reporter in a statement to nbc news, google denied the claims, saying, in part, we disagree with the central allegations. Job levels and promotions are determined through rigorous hiring and committees. We have systems in place to ensure we pay fairly. Googles workforce is made up of 69 men and 39 women. Tech workers are 80 men and 20 women. The chief Financial Officer says theyre trying to change. Were treeing to see more people from underrepresented groups. Reporter google is being investigated by the Labor Department for unequal pay. The company has denied those allegati allegations. I look at the women who put their names on this lawsuit. I am impressed. Not only are they standing up for fair treatment at google, but theyre making a bet on their future. These are serious technologists. They want long careers in technology. Reporter this comes one month after google fired james demoore, for writing a meme low, claiming that womens and mens abilities differ because of biological causes. Its about a growing discussion of equality for women in Silicon Valley. Every company is struggling on how to build workforces. And i think google is not alone in struggling in that area. How did it feel for you . Very surreal. I want to say thank you, savannah. I met you three times now. And one time, you were pregnant. And another time it was circle of life. Circle of life. And you have a little girl now, too . Shes three now. Nora. Congratulations. What was the process like for you, different from other roles, that you had, where youre not playing a fictional character. Youre playing a reallife character, and someone we dont know that much about privately. Weve seen you throwing out pitches at red sox games and getting the adoration. What did you have to do to study jeff . I felt a huge responsibility, not only to jeff. But to his family and the city of boston and anybody who saw that photograph, who had any feelings about what happened to him on that day. I think, you know, for me, what i discovered was his incredible sense of humor, which i guess wasnt a surprise. But i think i realized thats what got him through all of this. Thats whats in the movie. And i think also the Incredible Community around him. The people, with all of the complication and all of the messiness and complexitiecompley love him so much. And you start to realize, thats the only thing that matters at all. Im glad you mentioned the humor. I mentioned my tears. I have to say, you play it with such heart. And you really see, jeff, your personality. And you are a very, very funny guy. I know the premiere was hes like, thank you. Thats right. Im quite hilarious. Thank you. Dont be so serious over there. She took out jakes breathing tube, or my breathing tube in real life. These are your caretakers in the movie, which is just amazing. Jeff kalish, the surgeon, to explain what happened to me. And that all that stuff, like, really hits me hard. And its like, whoa. Dr. Kalish came in because there were doctors auditioning to play doctors and nurses. And our director was not satisfied with the performances. We had a meeting to discuss what happened with jeff. And we turned to each other and say, maybe he can play the doctor. We had him audition. And he was really not good. But hes a great surgeon. Then, he just said what he said to his family and to jeff. And all of a sudden, we said, we dont need a script. We have everybody come in and behave as they did. Its not acting. We have to go. What do you think of jakes boston accent . Did he get it . It was all right. Thats a compliment. Ill take that. But until the found letters and things like that in india, everything bertie had everything destroyed. And consequently, they were found later. And this is only just been published in 2010. Its a taboo relationship between an indian, who starts out as a servant and the queen. And youre filling a role that your character needs. Your character is desperately lonely, right . Well, she had a great passion for her husband, albert. And then, he tdied. And then, that whatever passion or need, was helped by a friendship with john brown for four years. And he died. I didnt know that there was, you know i thought that she just left and was left to reign for the rest of her life. But she suddenly met this young man when it was everything had been suppressed and everything. She had a wonderful bit of life. It filled her up. Made your character happy and joyful. Had a nice time and laughed and learned from him. I felt there was some of you in this. When you come here, kathie lee and i interviewed you, im laughing. I watch you rap and im laughing. This is cooked, crumbled bacon. Mix that up. Oh, yeah. Then we have our array of spices salt, pepper and go in with the ground turkey and add the worstishire sauce. I like it. One cool way that you can always get your burger the same size and sometimes you get a big one and then a tiny one. You can use an ice cream scoop or a measuring cup and portion it out like that. Shape it as big or small as you like. Then take a spoon and put a little bit of filling. Put a little indent in the middle. You make a little hole in the middle and you drop the cheese and the bacon. Youre a genius. Youre a genius there. You just kind of fold it over and reshape it so that whats happening here. Carsons in trouble down there. And shape it altogether and then well go ahead and put one on the grill for me. You can put it at like medium high heat and its turkey so it has to be cooked all the way through. Six to eight minutes on both sides and then we have to keep it georgia. So we have georgia peaches right here. Grab some of that olive oil and grilled fruit is super trendy on burgers. Grilled pears and peaches and season with salt and pepper. Yeah. Absolutely. Put them right on the grill right here. You let them go so they have a nice little char on the outside. Bacon. Peach. Olive oil. Oh, man. Have a spicy mayo. Always think you should make your own signature spread on your burger. Add spices and condiments from your pantry and make it your own. Sure but my line is for the everyday working woman, a woman who does it all. Whether youre a mom life or work life, whatever youre doing, i want you to feel good doing it, and look good doing it. So at the end, i always wonder, when the designer comes out on the runway and everybody is clapping with the 7yearold girl who used to sew costumes, was she bursting inside . Can you feel it in that moment . I was so oefverwhelmed, i wa shaking, crying. It was a dream i never even knew i had. So for that to come true, im like, this is big but i didnt even dream i didnt even dream this. I never dreamed to show a collection at fashion week. I just love making clothes for women. And thank god we caught it early. She was in stage 1. Got treatment. Shes in remission now. Theres a really small community, one in three women diagnosed with Breast Cancer will develop metastatic cancer. Whats the difference . It spreads outside the breast into lungs, liver, bone and its incurable. Breast cancer is highly curable when caught in time with prevention. But metastatic Breast Cancer is not.
