Expect it there within the next 20 minutes. That continues to move off towards the north and west. And another cell with a lot of lightning being detected. Some raining now in antioch, moving closer to concord and martinez within the next 20 minute there is. Well continue to monitor that. If it is moving in your direction, if you can, maybe wait a few minute foss it to pass. It will le happening fairly quickly before we get a bit of clearing. Well continue to talk more about that. New this morning the south bays Largest School district is shrinking today san jose School District leaders will talk about what that may mean. This is from the record that the board will look at took place. Any area you see there in yellow or red is seeing declining enrollment. Its all up over the map, but primarily in the north. As of 2017, san jose unified had 30,000 units. By 2023, the district expects fewer than 27,000 will enroll, a loss of 3500 students. The district pins the cause primarily on the cost of living in san jose and the fact theres a shortage of singlefamily homes. While you driving around san jose and it looks like a construction book is under way, most of the recent demplgal projects are going up, they are apartments, condos, best suited for smaller families or perhaps folks with no children. As you know, funding is tied to enrollment if youre thinking my kid may have a smaller class size, it doesnt work like that. The district will try to figure out what to do with less money, because they have less enrollment and what that will mean for neighborhood schools. It is still very early in the process. This is the first meeting tonight, as the spokesman told me, at this point everything and nothing is on the table. Theyll look at that report for the first time tonight. Later today an independent investigator will present its results to the pallet alternate school board to let the School District now hoe well or how poorly it handled an alleged Sexual Assault of a freshman girl here. Behind me by a boy who was a junior at the time. This is according to the palo alto weekly. The School District first became aware of this alleged Sexual Assault last year back in 2016, but as we reported back in may, parents became very angry when they learned the district had allowed the boy to remain at the school, not only after having been accused of the assault in a campus rest room, but also after having been convicted of another assault. The boy eventually left palo alto high on its own. An Independence Law Firm was hired to investigate this case. The board meetings later today. You can address the trustees at 4 00 before they go into closed session to read the investigative report, to learn the reports. It would start out at 67 degrees, rising into the low 80s, so very nice, bring the sunglasses and also something nice and cool for the dog to drink. As you head over toward monterey, it would be a nice weekend for the beach reaching into the upper 60s so definitely some long sleeves there. It will be cooling off a bit, but also watching this cell through brent account, now closer to concord. You may see some heavier rain moving in within the next 10 to 20 minutes, moving toward hercules, as some of those showers move over i80. Then we head down toward gilroy. With that shower moving in within the next continue minutes. The rain is about to pick up. It may last for about 20 to 30 minutes if you are trying to get a timing on when to leave. You dont want to be driving when that rain is pouring down. It looks pretty heavy. As we go through the rest of the morning, here we are, showing some showers popping up. Not everyone will see the showers moving through, but still a pretty good chance we could see that rain moving through the south county moving toward santa cruz, and then more showers popping up by early afternoon before it all clears out later today. So temperatures will be cooler. Well get rid of that humidity, but well have to deal with it through the morning, temperatures reaching into the mid 80s, upper 60s so as youre getting ready, do not forget the umbrella. You dont want to get caught in some of the showers, as we go through the day, a great day for short sleeves. Later on, once it clears up, it will be about the sunglasses and nice shoes, as it will get better. This weather will be clearing out, another chance of showers towards the end, but it doesnt look like it will be a lot of rain. Wee also steal some cooler temperatures after today, tomorrow will be the coolest day reaching 79 degrees for the inland valleys. Mike is now tracking two crashes in key spots. Thats right, kari, because the commute is just getting started, these are bad places as far as the timing goes. You also talk about the rain coming in, maybe wet roads through brentwood or discovery bay, where kari is track tlag, but again back to the crashes. Southbound 101, as the commute builds, we still have all but one lane blocked, as far as the chp information goes, some folks are heading over towards bridgeway. Just, you know, stay off of the city streets. You can get through. Its a slower drive at about ten minutes. Get to work a little early, maybe. Over here in the east bay, were looking at highway 24 westbound. We have that crash as well. This involves a motorcycle. More motorcycles on the roadway. No major injuries reported, but toward the caldecott tunnel, just shy of that tunnel is where the crash blocks possibly two or three lanes depends on where you are. So these the bottom of your screen, though, we have seen this go from about 13 minutes to 9, so they may have cleared at least one more of those lanes. Were looking at the waze system as well. Were looking at exactly what you want to compare. One of the different routes, we are looking at highway 4, looking at the walnut creek interchange. Theyre basically the same here.
