Two explosions have been reported at a flooded Chemical Plant in crosby about 25 miles from houston. More than 1 Million People around that area could be impacted. But also knew, there have been at least 28 stormrelated deaths. Many permanent still missing. And the city of beaumont, texas, has lost its water supply. The main pump station is out all because of flooding. Later today, Vice President pence and other secretaries will be surveying that damage. Were on the scene with this report. We also know theres been a large, black plume of smoke, i saw is it myself earlier this morning. Police and firefighters have pushed us back to a safe distance. Theyve blocked off the highway that leads to the plant right now. I can also tell you that ten deputies were complaining of dizziness and headaches, and so they were sent to the hospital. Niec nine of them drove themselves, one of them had to be taken to the hospital. This has been ongoing since Hurricane Harvey because of severe flooding. The plants still flood right now you cant reach it except by boat. What happened, because of the storm, is that the main source of power was shut down as well as two emergency sources of power. This plant makes chemicals for plastics and the chemicals need to stay cool so the refrigeration system failed and that is what has led to these chemicals heating up to dangerous levels. Again, those two explosions reported here this morning, people who live in this area within a mile and a half have been evacuated since tuesday while emergency crews and First Responders keep their eye on whats happening here. It all started wednesday morning, members of the Sacramento County Auto Theft Task force spotted two women getting into a suspected stolen car. They were arrested in elk grove. Police got a search warrant, knocked on a door at the ramada inn. Someone inside opens fire striking the Deputy Sheriff and two chp officers. Deputy sheriff Robert French died on the way to the hospital. Our Homicide Bureau is dealing with a few things here, obviously. Theyre dealing with two major scenes and theyre also dealing with, you know, an officer death, two officers that were injured by the gunfire, and theyre also dealing with the officerinvolved shooting investigation on top of it. She says she can see he was injured as Police Arrested him in front of her home. Meanwhile, the Deputy Sheriff is survived by his girlfriend, grown children, grandchildren, and a sister.
