Is just not an option in and out of San Francisco. I happened to speak to a spokesperson and hes saying basically travel is up about 24 between oakland, alameda and San Francisco. They are offering up and downed service. Lines are moving, but they are long. A b. A. R. T. Spokesperson says from there the work is going well. Busses are set up around 20th and broadway in oakland moving people in and out of the city. The ride is taking about 20 minutes. B. A. R. T. Is still running, but, again, just not in the transbay ii. Rider shich is about half of what it would be for a normally day. Workers are replacing worn out rails. B. A. R. T. Put the word out some time ago that this would be happening. But the ferry certainly is popular. Most definitely. I would take b. A. R. T. Any day of the week. But this is faster and i didnt want to sit in traffic for an hour, hour and a half. This is a huge project. Its 2 million. Its just about every piece of heavy equipment that b. A. R. T. Owns is working on this. About 90 people are out there working on the tracks. This is something that is understandably an inconvenience to a lot of people, but we absolutely need to get it doeb. Done. Reporter harry, im here on santa cruz boulevard in downtown san jose. And all afternoon, we have seen a steady stream of traffic out on this road. The problem is a lot of people are using this as their default detour on the way to the beach. That has created a lot of traffic in los gados. The town put up an electronic billboard to stick to highway 17 if you are going to the beach unless you plan to visit downtown los gados. A lot of people are getting off the highway off of 17 on their way to santa cruz thinking that they can cut through town faster. Its just creating all kinds of strafic jams and making it very difficult for people who are trying to gom to los gatos to shop or eat or people that live here just to get around and do everyday things. One of the problems is some mobile navigation applications actually recommend surface street short cuts when the highways are packed. But the mayor of los gatos says you really wont save any time going downtown. As a deterrent, police are patrolling the area ticketing people who block intersections. It is certainly not illegal to drive through the city streets, wu some residents feel it is a safety issue. They say if there were to be an emergency in downtown los dwrks atos and there was a lot of traffic there, it would be difficult for emergency crews to complete that emergency. Our number one priority today is the western portion of the fire which is currently threatening the community of clearlake, which has more than 6100 people or residents under advisory evacuations. Well the rocky fire has already destroyed 14 homes and 16 out buildings. Terrain is steep and rugged in the air y where the fire is currently burning making the wattle even more difficult. Much better news on another fire front. The rag fire, now 92 contained. Firefighters have stopped the fires progress and are now focusing on mopup and patrol operations. The fires destroyed two out buildings and damaged four others as it began on july 2 thend. Well, frightening moments today on a walnut creek strip mall when a woman hit a man with her truck. Walnut creek police say this happened about 10 00 this morning when a 65yearold woman was pulling into a parking space. She accidentally hit the gas instead of brakes and slammed right into the front window of a dry cleaner. Atempblted murder charges just after 11 30 last night. One man ran away. Police say he pulled a gun and started firing. Officers fired back at the suspected, carjacked a driver and then led police on a freway chase. Witnesses say the driver hit speeds upwards of 100 miles per hour. This guy was shooting at the police and shots fired like three times. He hopped on 101, 28th i believe, 28th and santa clara. He gist started going crazy. Now, the suspect hit a car during that chase. Two people were in the car were taken to the hopt. The suspect was treated for injuries not related to the gunfire.
