And right now near the fire close to 81. Humidity dropping off, too, during the afternoon. Humidity down to 26 . And this was the view this morning. Misty skies, low clouds relatively high humidity levels. And then temperatures climbing up, mid 80s for the afternoon. So right now winds about 10 to 15 Miles Per Hour near the fire. But these onshore breezes again tonight setting the stage to bring in the low clouds relatively higher humidity levels and Cool Temperatures into tomorrow morning. So thats the good news. Ahead of the sevenday forecast well see less of that ocean influence, and temperatures really set to climb as we head towards the beginning of next week after the morning mist that kicked off this weekend. The fire along that highway has burned 300 acres in the past 24 hours. Highway 50 remains closed east of flag park road and west of meyers. There are plenty of detours, though, for traffic and drivers. This doesnt just impact cars. Boats have been ordered off reservoirs to keep them from interfering with helicopter water drops. And a campground evacuated. The fire is now 30 contained, cooler than normal temps and light winds are hoping in the firefight. The cause of the fire has not been determined. Reporter raj, it is very emotional. It was a packed courtroom, filled with Sergeant Scott lungers friends and colleagues. The suspects family was also there. Tonight, we are hearing from them for the first time. Were also learning more about what led police to the suspect. If you ask the teachers if you ask principleals, friends, people that know him, they will all say the same thing. That he is not capable of this crime. Reporter but just days after his 21st birthday, mar estrada appeared in court with his family and Police Officers looking on. He was formally charged with one count of murder with special circumstances for the killing of Hayward PoliceSergeant Scott lunger. According to Court Documents, police found blood on the drivers seat of estradas truck, along with two empty. 9 bullet casings on the floor board. They found a. 9 gun at the crime scene and when police searched his house, found. 9 ammunition casings and Surveillance Video that showed three people arriving to the house after the shooting. One of them limping. We dont know the totality of the circumstances in this case or how those bullets occurred inside of his car, and how he was in that location at that time. Reporter police say estrada showed up at the hospital with a gunshot wound above his waistline. Quote, during contact with the physician, estrada admitted he was shot in the drivers seat of his vehicle while near eighth street in hayward but would not answer when asked, who would shot him. His family insists hes innocent. I know hes not guilty. I love him. All his family is behind him. All his friend. We know that hes not capable of this. Today we are learning more about the accused gunman 59yearold john houseer described as a drifter. He killed two people and injured nine last night before turning the gun on himself. Today police and federal agents continue to search for an exact motive. Nbcs jay gray is live outside the theater in laughfayettelafayette, louisiana with new details released this afternoon. Jay. Reporter janelle, were learning more about the suspect in this case from state and local police. First of all the gun used the handgun, a legal purchase they say, from an alabama pawn shop in 2014. They say 15 shots were fired inside of that theatre behind me. They also say that the suspect here john russellhouse er was methodic. There were mental issues including depression and bipolar disorder. He was here in lafayette a month, maybe less. He was estranged from his family, living in a local hotel and thats apparently where he planned last nights attack. Police rushed in just after the fires shots rang out. It was just loud. Like one big loud bang. Made my ears ring. But i knew it was a gunshot. Reporter witnesses say a 59yearold drifter, John Russell Houser stood up in the crowded theater and opened fire. He looked very calm just standing there, walking down the aisle and firing. Reporter two people were killed in the attack nine others wounded. Shot shot. I dont even know what to say about the situation. Reporter today as their investigation continues, police are learning more about the man they say is responsible. He clearly knew what he was doing, clearly had some type of plan. He bought the ticket was in the theatre, had the gun. Reporter it became more clear as they searched the hotel he had been living in. We found wigs and glasses and disguises, basically, in his room. It is apparent that he was intent on shooting and then escaping. Reporter things apparently changed, though when houser spotted oh officers in the chaos as he was trying to leave. Local Police Officers went back inside. Thats when he shot and killed himself. Reporter as make shift memorials grow across this shattered community, Police Released the name of the two women killed. 21yearold macie breaux and 33yearold jillian johnson. These individuals had a vision, a name a future. It wasnt to die as they did horribly in this theatre here. Reporter now, police and so many here are trying to understand how and why it happened. Yeah, and investigators right now are reviewing journals and online posts from houser trying to find some reason for the attack. At this point, though they say there is no clear motive.
