Market Square business owner Scott West isn't the only one talking about open containers anymore.
An email obtained by Knox News shows the Downtown Knoxville Alliance, on behalf of the city, is reaching out to Market Square businesses to gauge interest in allowing open containers of alcohol to be consumed in the pedestrian area.
West is the brains behind Preservation Pub and other downtown watering holes, along with his wife Bernadette, who is the namesake of Market Square's new crystal-themed bar.
The couple's recent email blast included a petition in favor of open containers directed to Knoxville Mayor Indya Kincannon and the Knoxville City Council. So far, Scott West said, the petition has received roughly 2,000 signatures.
