HAMPTON — Kittatinny Regional High School, facing a $929,000 state aid deficit made the "devastating" decision to eliminate 12 positions and 20 programs.
Faculty and staff members, including a middle school science teacher, an English teacher, a paraprofessional and a business teacher were among those who received a reduction in force notice. Also impacted was the school's popular graphic arts program and its teacher, John Daly. It is not yet clear where the rest of the cuts will be made.
"When you face a deficit of about a million dollars just from the state, you know you're going to incur a very hard, arduous process to develop the budget," said Superintendent Craig Hutcheson at Thursday's school board meeting.
