Black granite framed by steel features on the island in this new kitchen in a Belmont house. The entire project came in under $30,000.
The owners of this home in Belmont, Auckland, were originally looking at a kitset modular steel kitchen, but there was a problem.
Kitchen designer Margaux Word of Chroma Interiors says there was no way she could customise it and make it work for the family with the fixed module sizes. In fact, it was cheaper to provide a bespoke kitchen perfectly tailored to their needs.
“The original kitchen was pretty dated and old,” Word says. “They are a busy family with two young children, and we needed to maximise the space.”
