Kingston Workers Project launched by ET Foundation, UT hospital
Special to The Oak Ridger
The East Tennessee Foundation and University of Tennessee Medical Center are joining forces to provide complimentary evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment planning for workers who participated in the cleanup of the historic spill of coal ash at TVA’s coal-fired steam plant in Kingston, Tenn., that occurred on Dec. 22, 2008.
“Through no fault of their own, these workers and their families have suffered greatly over the past 12 years, and we are extremely pleased that the University of Tennessee Medical Center has stepped forward to work with East Tennessee Foundation in helping determine the medical situation of the workers,” East Tennessee Foundation President & CEO Mike McClamroch said in a news release.
