Rep. Brad Buckley, R-Salado, referred to the Democrats flight to D.C. as âpolitical theatrics.â
âThey flew away on private jets, loaded down with beer and snacks, and theyâre having a grand old time in Washington, D.C.,â said Buckley, a Killeen veterinarian. âYou know, the peopleâs business for Texas is done in Texas, and they need to be here.â
Nancy Boston, chair of the Republican Party of Bell County, said she was disappointed by the Democratsâ decision to break quorum.
âI think itâs a shame the people who were elected skipped the state; theyâre not doing their duty. I think itâs below the dignity of the Texas Legislature to do that â to break quorum,â Boston said in a phone interview Tuesday. âIf they donât want to do the job, they shouldnât run for it.â
