We would only have to do in an emergency, such as an earthquake or another, you know, flood event or Something Like that, a large storm where we could quickly lower the reservoir if needed. If this tunnel looks like it goes on forever, thats because it kind of does. It will be 1700 feet long with a 20 foot diameter. When completed, and thats going to make a major difference when trying to move water from the dam. The current pipe is just too small, and during last years storms, water couldnt release fast enough. The reservoir hit 60 capacity, dangerously close to the current 68 limit for seismic safety. But now about 15 times more water can be released. Yeah, so right now we can do about 400 cubic feet per second, which is just under about 3000 gallons per second. It will be up to do 6000 cubic feet per second, or about 45,000 gallons in this new building outside of the tunnel will slow the energy of all that water as it flows into the coyote creek. This should dramatically reduce flooding like we saw in East San Jose seven years ago. If this project had been in place in 2017, we would not have seen the flooding we did there. And this project is so important and so big that it reaches all the way into alviso and phase one is almost done. The next step will be using specialized drilling equipment to install the final 350ft of pipe, which will complete this very important tunnel. What were really celebrating here is a milestone that gets us closer to a completed project, but also creates a high level of safety in the interim, making sure that communities that are living along this creek arent negatively impacted as a construction is Going Forward by next year. This tunnel will be diverting water around the dam and out of the reservoir. So the seven year seismic retrofit can officially begin in morgan hill. Dustin dorsey, abc seven news. And that project has been a very long time in the making. Theyre got more coming up. Lets check in with lisa. All right zach, nice and sunny behind you. But there is a deck of low clouds. Have a great saturday. Lets send it back to you. It is a great saturday so far chris. Thank you. And lets get a check now of the bay area forecast with meteorologist lisa argen. Right. Hi there zach. Good morning to you. It is like summertime where we have the fog at the coast and those warm temperatures inland. All compliments of High Pressure. But it is beginning to shift inland and that is allowing. It has allowed for the fog to return to the coast. That sea breeze. Theres a sunny look at san jose. Another warm day on tap for you. Mid 80s returning 53 San Francisco and oakland where weve had a little bit of patchy fog. Hayward was warm yesterday into the 80s, maybe a few degrees cooler today. Thats what were counting on in redwood city. Certainly dropping off Half Moon Bay is at 50. And look at the clear sky. San bruno there at the airport where temperatures made it once again into the 80s, but will be cooling off today, 54 in santa rosa. We have got dense fog all along the coast, but it has not pushed into the gaps there. 50 in napa with some fog, even fog in concord. So at four mile visibility, just about reaching the east bay as it kind of curves around there a half mile in novato, over two miles in napa, and look down through Half Moon Bay, montara, highway one. Thats where we have our dense fog advisory. So from San Francisco, gorgeous out there. But about a 9 degrees drop anticipated today. Yesterday it was 81 in oakland. Youre coming back down into the 70s. So the hot weather remains inland. And then more dense fog tonight. But well get a finger of that once again over into the east bay. And then for mothers day a nice spread once again, but even cooler by about five to maybe seven degrees. So as we look at the winds develop throughout the afternoon, notice not bad. Its going to take about all day to get that sea breeze. So it will be comfortable and well have patchy fog at the shoreline. But a really nice day for many of us. But some of you probably battling the allergies with the grasses, elm and pine, the top allergens out there. And looking at that to continue, obviously, as things are really getting a pretty gorgeous out there. But the price to pay is definitely the allergens. So as for highs today, notice once again reaching about 90 today. Yesterday it was 88 in livermore. So about the same. The change has come along the bay shore where were looking at the mid 70s today to the upper 70s. We had some low to mid 80s from concord and livermore. Little change for morgan hill and san jose in the mid 80s, upper 80s in santa rosa. But the fog here pulling back to the coast. So well look at those upper 60s today downtown, the accuweather seven day forecast looking at a bit of a spread there certainly today into tomorrow gets a little narrower. So today will be the warmest day out of the next seven, a little cooler for mothers day. That trend continues into monday as we get into the middle of next week. A slight warm up for mid and upper 80s mid 70s around the bay. So really gorgeous into next week and typical at the shoreline. Zach. Its a nice looking forecast. Lisa thank you so much.
