And amanda, the decision could have a major impact on the way. Bay area leaders are able to address the crisis that so many cities face. Kumasi california leaders and homeless advocates are both watching this case closely. Argument will center around whether unhoused people can be punished for sleeping outdoors when they have no other options. This fight goes back more than a decade to 2013. Thats when the city of grants pass, oregon, passed an ordinance banning people from sleeping in public spaces because there were no shelters in grants pass, a Homeless Group sued and won. It argued the ban violated the constitutions eighth amendment, barring cruel and unusual punishment. The case then went to the ninth Circuit Court of appeals, which is based in San Francisco, and won there as well. The reality is, the only thing that works is more permanent affordable housing. The Supreme Court is expected to make a ruling by the end of june. That decision will have an impact on how San Francisco handles the unhoused. Earlier this year, a separate lawsuit over how the city clears encampments was put on hold pending a decision in the grants pass case. Back to you, kumasi. Thanks, amanda. Well likely find some light showers with that area of low pressure. Certainly a lot of cloud cover and temperatures below average for this time of the year. So the accuweather seven day forecast shows you today we have sunny, warm conditions. Then tomorrow youll find cooler weather moving in with a breeze kicking up.
