Theres a severe thunderstorm watch making you up in missouri and illinois. The severe storms today, including tornados and giant hail, are going to be focused on arkansas, oklahoma and missouri. Overnight, at least three reported tornados in northeast kansas. Acuweather capturing lightning illuminating this twister tearing through alta vista. That rotation looming on the horizon. Giant hail up to softball size hitting parts of the state, too. These images capturing golf ball size hail in shawnee and liberty, missouri. In nearby kansas city, hail pummelling this car. These crews will be descending from all over the state, descending upon denver specifically but really on the midsection of the state. Thats expected to be the hardest hit. Were expecting about 8 to 12 inches between now and tomorrow morning. Its a wet heavy snow thats been coming down really all morning so far. Its expected to be the biggest snowstorm of this season. Been a rough two months of pr for boeing. Every time theres an issue with a plane, it puts the company back into the head lines. This american incident is no different. That Emergency Landing at lax. This morning an American Airline boeing 777 traveling from dallas to los angeles forced to make an Emergency Landing after reports of mechanical problems. This video capturing the moment the plane, carrying 249 people touched down at lax with a possible flat tire. This comes on the heels of other incident on boeing planes in recent days. On monday, hydraulic fluid began leaking from the bottom of this boeing 777 as its departed sydney for san francisco, forcing the plane to turn around. This newly released video shows more from what happened the moment this boeing 787 dreamliner suddenly dropped thousands of feet midflight on its way from sydney to new zealand up rooting passengers from their seat, tossing them around the cabin. At least 50 people were treated for injuries. While many of these incidents were older planes and may have more to do with maintenance, they put boeing back in the spotlight, as the Company Promises to change its safety procedures at its manufacturing plants, including added layers of inspection. Stan deal, ceo of commercial airplanes saying boeing will soon deliver a comprehensive plan to the faa following the New York Times report saying boeing failed dozens of faa audits with nearly 100 instances of noncompliance after that door plug flew off a 737 max 9 in january. Most of these problems go back to a failure to follow basic procedures. So this will be what boeing needs to do. Go back to basics. In that latest incident, American Airlines tells us the plane ultimately landed safely and passengers were able to get off normally. Reporter after the house overwhelmingly voted to force tik toks Chinese Parent Company to either sell the platform or face a nationwide ban in the u. S. This is not an attempt to ban tik tok. Its an attempt to make tik tok better. Tic tac toe, a winner. We are in a cold war with china. Some of my colleagues want to ignore this fact. Reporter the fbi and top intelligence officials sounding the alarm, warning the Chinese Government could use tik tok to access the personal information of 170 million americans and even interfere in u. Thanks. Now the latest ruling in the juror Georgia Election case. The judge threw out several charges against President Trump and his codefendants. That comes with a decision expected soon on whether the da will be removed from the case. Senior National Correspondent terry moran has the story. Good morning, terry. Reporter good morning, george. The judge has dismissed three of the counts in this election interference indictment against donald trump. There may be more to come. The problem the judge ruled the counts are too vague. Trump and other defendants are charged with soliciting georgia officials to violate their oaths under the u. S. Constitution and the georgia constitution, but they dont specify the indictments dont specify what clauses of those constitutions. That puts the defense ats an unfair disadvantage, the judge ruled. The ruling is a win for trump and the others but they are a long way of getting out of the legal woods. The bulk of the case remains. Meanwhile, Fulton County District Attorney fani willis, is waiting to find out if the judge will disqualify her and her office from the case that she brought against trump and the other defendants. Judge mcafee must decide if willis romantic relationship with a special prosecutor she appointed for this case creates a conflict of interest. Defense is alleging there may be financial motivation for willis to keep this case going. The ruled expected by the ends of the week. It would delay this trial for months if the judge did disqualify willis, and would throw the whole case into chaos. Robin . This will be their biggest snowstorm of the season. 16 people were injured in an explosion during training exercises at an fbi facility in california. Orange county swat team members were conducting a training exercise. All were treated at nearby hospitals. At least one had to have leg surgery. A new blood test is showing promise in detecting colon cancer. A study published wednesday found the test caught 83 of the cancers. The test would not replace a colonoscopy, but Scientists Say it could dramatically increase the number of people who get screened. Remember, Colorectal Cancer is the second highest cause of cancer in the u. S. Anything to increase that screening is important. Right now the parents of a 7yearold girl who was tragically killed when a sand hole on a Florida Beach collapsed on top of her. They sat down with Erielle Reshef to talk about their daughter sloan and share an urgent warning. Oh my goodness. Good morning, erielle. Good morning to you guys. This is such a vital message. Sloan was such a light. Her parents say that losing their daughter say losing their daughter to this tragic accident has turned their lives upside down. Now just weeks later, as we head into the spring break season, they want parents to know about this hidden danger in the sand and are sharing sloans story to save others from anguish. The kids were looking up finding seashells and playing in the sand. Reporter jason and teresa mattingly say they were enjoying the perfect beach day with their two Young Children when the unthinkable happened. We go to the beach. You think of water safety. This never, ever once crossed my mind. Of course, looking now im like, of course. So that part is really frustrating. Im like, man. Reporter last month 7yearold sloan and her 9yearold brother maddox were digging in the sand at this ft. Lauderdale area beach when things took a devastating turn. The sand hole suddenly caved in on them. Sloan was completely buried beneath her brother. Told me this happened in an instant. Its kind of a blur. Maybe my mind protecting itself. But it just happened so fast. In my mind i had her in my hands but the weight of the sand was too much. It didnt matter. We were right there. It was just a hole. Theres nothing. Then it just became chaos and horror. Reporter several people frantically calling 911. The father started yelling for help. The child is caught in a hole in the sand. My husband is up there and a bunch of men are digging on the beach. Reporter people were desperate to help you. There was a woman who, she i told her to call 911. Turned out shes a nurse. Once maddox, our son, got out of the sand and they were checking him out on the beach, she stayed with him. I wanted to be digging. So she sat with him the whole time. She was so kind. Reporter the family says it took nearly 20 minutes to fully get the children out of the hole several feet deep but say it felt like time stood still. Sloan was rushed to a nearby hospital, tragically she did not survive. What would you say to those people who were on the beach who jumped in . Sorry. Im so sorry. You witnessed pure horror. Thank you to the first responders. The hospital. Everyone. Everyone tried their hardest. Unfortunately, it didnt work in our favor. Reporter experts warn sand holes, even relatively small ones, pose serious danger on the beach. Take a group of kids, ages 511 years old, all varying in height. The shortest 3 7, the tallest 4 11. Experts say any hole dug should be no deeper than the knee of the shortest person digging it. In this case about 9 inches. Was there a life guard on duty on the beach or was this sort of an open public beach . I think its just an open public beach. Yeah. That would be something we would like to see change, if we can. Again, we dont place blame on lauderdale by the sea. No. Reporter in a statement to abc news, the town of lauderdale by the sea says they are developing a National Safety campaign, telling us, we will share it with as many coastal communities as possible to help prevent another unimaginable tragedy. Were also discussing how we monitor our beach. A local ordinance to ban digging on our beach, and the best way to honor sloan. It is all about love. And about songs. Experts tell us if theyre too deep the walls or sides can cave in and the sand can become compact and heavy and trap people inside. Mattinglys want families to know how quickly this can happen. Were releasing a statement that might take some of the public heat off her. This is more an attempt by her to maintain some sort of standing in the local community. Heuermann has pleaded not guilty to the charges. The attorney for asa ellerup said she has visited remembering several times and wanted to reiterate she doesnt believe he is capable of this. I had the privilege of sitting down with actress regina king, who stars in the powerful new movie shirley about Shirley Chisholms historic run for president. Reginas return to the screen and public comes two years after the sudden death of her beloved son ian. This is her first tv interview since that tragedy. We talked about her sons legacy, how shes been healing, and what she calls her favorite thing, being ians mom. For nearly 40 years, shes reigned as one of hollywoods most versatile talents. Regina king is known for humanizing complex characters. If i cant get the nomination, i can still get it. Including her latest role starring in the bio pic shirley. How did you prepare to play shirley . It was a 15 year journey. I think 15 years ago i wasnt ready to play shirley. I may have thought that i was then, but i wasnt ready. I needed to live more life. Regina is joined by her sister raina, who coproduces and plays a key role in the film that chronicles her rise in 1992 as she becomes the first black woman to run for president. We felt like there were so many people who did not know who Shirley Chisholm is, who she was, who she is. And that bugged us. When youre a first, when you set out do something that no one else has done before,less no example of that for you. Thats a lonely road to travel. Yeah. Just so happens to be an election year. Yeah. We were like, no, it needs to live and be in the space now so that if its going to inspire anyone, especially young people, to be involved with the political process, weve done something right and weve also honored shirley and weve followed through with what shirley has unboxed. For the last couple of year, regina has been taking much needed time away. In january of 2022, her dear son ian tragically passing away by suicide. You dedicated the film to your beloved ian. My ian. What has this timespan, these last two years, been like for you, regina . Oh, wow. You know, im a different person, you know, now than i was january 19th. I am grief is a journey, you know . I understand that grief is love that has no place to go. I know that its important to me to honor ian and the totality of who he is. I speak about him in the present because hes always with me. The joy and happiness that he gave all of us. But behind that joy and happiness, ians Mental Health took a toll. When it comes to depression, people expect it to look a certain way. They expect it to look heavy. People expect that its okay. To have to experience this and not be able to have the time to just sit with ians choice, which i respect and understand, you know . He didnt want to be here anymore. Thats a hard thing for other people to receive because they did not live our experience. Did not live ians journey. I think a lot of people, a lot of people, are going to appreciate that you said it was his choice. And that you recognize that. I was so angry with god, you know . Why would why would that weight be given to ian . Of all of the things we had gone through, the therapy, psychiatrists and programs. And ian was like, im tired of talking, mom. My favorite thing about myself is being ians mom. And i cant say that with a smile, with tears, with all of the emotion that comes with that. I cant do that if i did not respect the journey. Their close bond, always on full display, at reginas red carpet events. I thought about him when you were on the stage at the oscars, because you were wearing orange. Thats his favorite color. Yes. I remember he would escort you. Yeah, yeah. Are there moments where he was always there with you physically, that not as a trigger, but oh, its a trigger. Is it . Absolutely. Absolutely. So sometimes it will trigger is just laughter. Most times, as of recent, it triggers a smile. But sometimes the absence, his absence, is really loud. Regina admits she still struggles with acceptance. Sometimes, you know, its lot of guilt comes over me. When a parent loses a child, you still wonder, what could i have done so that wouldnt have happened . I know that i share this grief with everyone. But no one else is ians mom, you know . Only me. Its mine. The sadness will never go away. It will always be with me. I think i saw somewhere, the sadness is a reminder of how much he means to me. You know . Happy sorrow is what my mother used to say. Yeah, happy sorrow. You said something that Shirley Chisholm. What are the two words . Unbought an unbossed. What are two words for your motto . What would be your two words . I dont know that i can two words . I have two words for you. Do you . Ians mom. Thats the first thought that came to my mind. I know you. I know you. She is shes such a special, special human being. She said that often she will feel his presence. Something will be said, somebody she knew that her son knew would Say Something. She calls those her ianspirations, after her son. But, for her to be able to find the strength at this point, to sit down. She was there. We talked over the weekend when she was at the oscars. She said, im ready to talk. This film that im doing is very important. I know people want to talk about that. I want to be able to talk about my son. Im not going to make him a poster child for whats going on. I want to talk about it once. I love that thought that hes always with her. Yes. Yes. So many wise revelations. My mouth was just open, listening to the wisdom coming from her. She did Say Something, i was telling rebecca about it. I want to it come out right. She is so appreciative of the public. When she was at the oscars, people were hitting her up on instagram like, oh, youre back. They were happy to see her. In an emotional post on instagram, the actor sharing this video and a series of photos, getting candid about her diagnosis and ten month long treatment journey, under going a double mastectomy writing, i have had four surgeries, so many days spent in bed, i cant even count. Munn revealing it started in february of 2023 with a proactive test for cancer genes. She writes, i tested negative for all including braca, the most well known cancer gene. Yet two months later she said she was diagnosed on both bretts a rare and aggressive type of Breast Cancer. For this cancer, this is a specific type of Breast Cancer. It only makes up about 10 of diagnoses. It expresses a certain protein. That protein actually quickens the growth of cancer cells. Reporter munn sharing that she wouldnt have discovered the cancer for another year during her routine mammogram if it wasnt for her ob gyn, who decided to calculate her Breast Cancer Risk Assessment score followed by an mri and biopsy. And munn encouraging other women to talk with their doctor about the Breast Cancer Risk Assessment tool. Heres what it is. It looks at things including age, age of first menstruation. This morning we are sharing one persons Inspiring Health journey. Thats right. Everyone has their own motivation for losing weight. One man chose to change his lifestyle in order to fulfill his and his wifes dream of starting a family. Take a look at their story. I was always on the heavier side. The first time i remember going on a diet was 4th grade. I was 430 pounds. For isaiah caldwell, being overweight was a struggle all his life. But starting a family finally motivated him to make a change. My wife and i were trying to get pregnant. I found out from a doctor my weight may be playing a factor in that. I was terrified. I had tried to lose weight in the past an failed at least three times. I started on a diet that i heard about on a podcast called the carnivoire diet. Immediately started to see results. Weight lifting became a hobby, something that i enjoyed and wanted to go to the gym for every day. His results were beyond just weight loss. My mental clarity was through the roof. I didnt have as much pain doing basic daily tasks. My lipid pan looked phenomenal. It has led him to encouraging others online. This weight loss journey has been the best decision of my life.
