You see the babies, the mother, the father in the bedrooms, in the protection rooms, and how the terrorists killed them. Its not a war, its not a battlefield, its a massacre. Reporter it was early saturday when Hamas Terrorists burst through the gates. So right there, i dont know if you can see, theres that breach in the fence. Thats where they came in, driving motorcycles like this, and they took this entire side of the kibbutz by surprise there. Today, we are with the soldiers as they go doortodoor, bringing out the murdered. Here is the incredibly grim task that these soldiers have, wrapping up a body right there in that room. Zipping up the body bag, and then we hear soldiers praying. The victim carefully eased through the window. So, you dont even know how many people have been killed here . No. I can imagine that its more than 100. Reporter you think more than 100 in this village right here . Yeah. All of them here in the rooms, in every apartment. Reporter theyre literally right around us in the rooms . Dead bodies . There are bodies . Dead body they locked themselves, they bomb the apartments. Reporter they burn the apartments . They shoot the babies. They cut their heads. Reporter they describe unimaginable horror here, and today, President Biden addressed it before the American People today. Its abhorrent. The brutality of hamas, its bloodthirstiness brings to mind the worst, the worst rampages of isis. Parents butchered, using their bodies to try to protect their children. And everywhere you look, the bodies of militants. The further we went, the deeper the depravity. A childs bed drenched in blood. This is the youth area of the kibbutz. They breached and they came in and slaughtered. Youre seeing slaughter here. Very important to see. They came in and killed civilians. Reporter when youre saying slaughter slitting throats, taking off heads, grenades reporter and in addition to the dead here, there are the missing. People kidnapped from their homes, now among the more than 150 hostages taken into gaza. Tonight, President Biden with the somber news that a number of americans have also been taken by hamas. And you were telling us about another story emerging in that kibbutz, you learned more about a young couple that hid their 10monthold twins and those babies survived because of it . But they did manage to hide their children well enough that they werent discovered until more than ten hours later by rescuers unharmed. David . Her hands tied behind her, pushed into the back seat by her head. Seniors were not spared. Yafa adar, an 85yearold grandmother, wrapped in a pink blanket, driven away on a cart by hamas. The babies, the children. A young mother, shiri bivas, kidnapped, along with her two young children, just 3 and 9 months old. Her family says theyve heard nothing since. Thats my cousin, shiri. Shes holding her two sons. Its really, really difficult to make people understand the horror. David tonight, for the first time, the white house now says at least 20 americans are among the missing. Its believed many of them could be in the hands of hamas. For two parents from chicago, who moved to jerusalem, there has been no sleep. Rachel and jonathans young son, Hersh Goldberg polin, who just turned 23, was celebrating his birthday at that music festival, where young people soon began to run for their lives. They tell me, the last two Text Messages from their son. I love you. And im sorry. There were two messages in a row at 8 11. The first one said, i love you. And the second one said, im sorry. So, i immediately knew something terrible had happened. I tried immediately to call him and it rang and rang. I wrote, are you okay . No answer. Are you okay . Let me know youre okay. And so, thats the last time we heard from him was at 8 11 saturday morning. The fact that he didnt just say i love you, but that he said, im sorry, i took immediately to be that he knew we were going to be in tremendous pain or worry or crisis, because it it made no sense. Theres no other reason to Say Something like that. So thats the last time that we heard from. David and those two words, im sorry. And i keep saying, its okay. We havent slept. I mean, we but when i have these quiet moments at night, i keep saying, its okay, its okay. And i hope. And i keep saying, im sending every ounce of my strength, stay alive. David over the last four days, his parents have pieced together his last known moments. They reached out to his friends, and to strangers at that festival. And they discovered an image, young people crowded into a shelter there, hopeful they would survive the militants. And right there on the left, they see their sons face, hersh. This is the bomb shelter, so, you see its like this tiny opening, and there are, like, 30 people in this cement shelter. This is hersh. David so, this is the last known image of hersh . Correct. Correct. David they have since learned that grenades were being thrown into that shelter. Their son critically wounded, losing an arm. The militants ordered those who could get up to leave. And so he did. And witnesses say thats when they put him and several others onto a pickup truck. We know hes critically wounded. Critically. I mean, he put a tourniquet on himself with one hand. I dont know how tight that tourniquet was. I dont think anybodys handing him antibiotics. So, its dire. And i really hope that hes getting the medical attention that he needs to stay alive. David these parents have now given dna samples to police, hoping they find their son. The police did contact us to come and give dna samples of hersh, so we took an old toothbrush and we found a hair on his pillow. And they took jons dna and we filed that at the police. You know, theres this Massive Center set up near the airport where all parents like us are going to do that. David its an impossible question, but how have you even gotten through it this far . I mean, we are every persons nightmare. Thats who we are. Anyone whos a parent, anyone who is a mother or has a mother can imagine what im going through. David if you could message to hersh right now, what would you say to him . Come home where you belong, to your family. We will hold you and love you and support you as we always have.
