The Washington Post spoke to an etiquette expert about navigating phone calls in 2023. So heres what they say you need to know. She says the etiquette rules always depend on your relationship type and your age and the context of the call. The closer you are to someone, the less the rules apply. So maybe go ahead and facetime with your mom if you dont have any warning, and if you are still brushing your teeth. But for everybody else, dont leave a voicemail. They say its best to text what you need to say. Number two, you dont need to answer the phone. Just because someones calling you doesnt mean in that moment you have to pick up, especially if youre in a restaurant. If youre in a meeting, if youre on the toilet and stay still for video calls. Mayor london breed says the city is stepping up its efforts to clear homeless encampments. This abc7 News ReporterGloria Rodriguez joining us live in the newsroom to explain why this is happening now. Gloria, good morning. Kumasi City Attorney david chu says a judge clarified an injunction which limited the citys response. Chu says the city can clear encampments as long as they first offer shelter to those who are living on the streets. This action is just the latest development in a months long legal battle between the city and homeless advocates. The director of the coalition on homelessness, which is suing the city, worries that the increased sweeps could lead to the city violating its own rules on clearing encampments. She pointed to policies prohibiting the destruction of homeless peoples property. She says that can be counterproductive. But chu believes its a step in allowing the city to enforce its own laws. San francisco has really tried to balance providing Compassionate Services and shelter to unhoused individuals with maintaining a healthy and safe streets. But that balance is really upset, particularly as as over half of the folks who have received offers of shelter would turn it down. Criminalization in general does not lead to an exit out of homelessness and it, in fact usually lengthens homelessness. The director says they want real solutions, but the legal battle is far from over. There are more trial dates on the issue set for the months ahead. And reggie, very interesting. Gloria, thank you.
