There were lines stretching about a mile long. There were people that slept in their cars waiting for the highway to reopen. Officers closed the highway yesterday after drivers try to access restricted areas in the disaster zone. Hawaii route 30 traverses maui for 35 miles. The highway opening will allow residents and more help to get to the area. A beloved festival capturing the spirit of hawaii returned to the peninsula this weekend with relief efforts and prayers focused on the people of maui. She is worried about her College Roommates family, forced to evacuate. They are in the shelters, unfortunately. The fire was in their backyard, and so they had to take shelter in their sons school. The Hawaii Community foundation is collecting donations for maui relief. Jerry gave 100. I saw the news and what a disaster it was over there, they need help. Hawaiian airlines telling us that in the past few days, 10,000 Hawaiian Airlines customers have donated their miles to help with relief.
