Lindsay shiver transported in the prison bus before being processed. According to police july 21st the 36yearold estranged husband robert shiver told authorities that he learned of what was a plot to murder him, saying he came to police out of fear for hi life and the life of his children. Police arresting shivers wife. And two other alleged accomplices. Investigators searching their found saying they found a number of whats app messages suggesting a plot. Initially all three not talking to police, but later shiver admitted to sending messages saying kill him. Shiver often posting family photos and videos oven herself on social media. Possible shark attack. Reporter police say a 65yearold woman was standing in the water alone when she felt a sharp pain from the sharks bite in her left leg. Life guards reportedly hearing her screams for help. She was bleeding, unconscious, taken out of the water. Dr. Jen, youre also a nutritionist and Board Certified in obesity medication. Big picture here, what do these medicines mean in fighting the obesity epidemic . Theres a lot of stigma and push back about these class of medications. But those are not based on science. The fact of the matter is theres a lot of factors that go into conditions of overweight and obesity. It is a complex chronic condition. Its not as simple as eating less and moving more. So they do have a major role. But insurance does not often times cover them. Theyre incredibly expensive. They have to be managed by someone whos familiar with this class of medication. So this is not like going to get a hair cut. Its real medication with potential side effects and it needs to be managed by a credentialed doctor. All right, dr. Jen. Say you are an obese or overweight person. You ask your doctor about this. They dont give it to you. What should you do . Heres the problem. A lot of physicians, particularly those who have been out of training for awhile are not familiar with this class of medication. Theyre not familiar with how to prescribe and manage patients on these drugs. Ideally, if you are obese, you want to look for a physician Board Certified in obesity medicine. Jennifer ashton is back with us to break this down. Explain to us whats going on with this report. Very reputable journal, journal of the american medical association. Huge study, long term followup. They looked at women 50 and over. Their data findings were based on a questionnaire. This is based on observation. Not cause and effect. They found women who drank one or more sugary drinks per day had a higher risk of liver disease. Were talking about things like cirosshis, nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease than those who drank sporadically, like three per month. Were not talking about real fruit juice or diet beverages. Thats soda with sugar and any fruit flavored beverage. If you are a person trying to cut down on the sugar, its hard. Youre a nutritionist so this is in your wheel house. What can you do . First of all we like to say in general dont drink your calories. There are too many good things to eat. Versus drinking them in caloric form. If you want to try, we all should be watching sugar in beverages. Taper off slowly. Try a five day two day approach meaning ease up on the weekend but try to be super strict during the week. Remember it takes time to retrain your taste buds. If youre someone who likes that sweet flavor, dont expect to make this change overnight. Give yourself time. Be patient, but it is worth it. Millions are turning to diabetes drugs to shed pounds, but two women we talked to said since using ozempic, their weight loss met with harsh criticism. Shes the feisty attorney turned cast mate of the real house wives of Orange County but Emily Simpson said behind her bold persona on the show. Its okay to body shame . Reporter with depression linked to battle with her weight. I think i was the heaviest i had ever been. I went to the doctor. She said theres this new weight loss drug. I think you should try it. You would probably lose some weight. Reporter so she started taking ozempic, the wildly popular diabetes drug on top of surgery and lifestyle changes. So ozempic was very effective for me. I did ozempic a number of times. I had liposuction january and lift and breast reduction. The American Psychiatric Association Says only one in three africanamericans who need Mental Health care are actually getting it. Because of factors like lack of insurance and inferior treatment. One man is working to change this using hip hop as therapy. Michael has his story. Hip hop has allowed me to thrive in times of need. Reporter it was in those times of need that these four young men who call themselves the kings peeled back their layers. Therapy. I steal coping mechanisms for people to get through a tough time. Reporter it was founded by hip hop artist archie green as a way to destigmatize Mental Health in the black and brown community. It was birthed from my own pain and lived experience. I didnt know whether or not therapy was for me as a black artist. I channelled my pain into my art. Reporter his art inspiring him to create a Ten Week Program offering a safe space for kids to create their own original music as way to bridge the gap in Mental Health disparities in communities that need it the most. Lot of times black youth are ignored. They want to feel validated and heard. Instead of being shunned for having feelings, for acting out because theres no food at home, or dad walked out on the family. It would give them something easier. If i can channel therapeutic practices from hip hop, it doesnt feel awkward. It feels like something i could have a connection with. Reporter that connection drawing in 19yearold kavier heel two years ago. I honestly didnt know how to attack depression. I would keep a persona that pleases everyone else. I really thought it was another therapy session. I have done therapy and counseling before and it didnt help. Archies delivery was so different. It was like he was my brother. That was good. Good. Reporter that brotherly love also felt by 19yearold taj banks. We all made these songs when we were in a tough spot. Everything we speak of is from the heart. The program has showed me that there will be hurdles, but you can get over it. Reporter the program also offering additional Mental Health services from professionals. My brothers. Whats happening . Reporter like licensed social worker ivan. What hip hop music does, it becomes a vehicle or catalyst to say, hey, what is the way to manage that emotion . Be open minded with yourself. With that program, we were able to identify songs and helping them dig out of that space. Reporter ivan also encouraging the boys to create their own hip hop inspired man mantras to help them hold their heads high. I will say perspective of a black man in america.
