During their briefing, they say investigators learned the person shot had set a fire at his apartment about 90 minutes before the encounter with police. The man identified as Antonio Estrada then got into some sort of fight with at least two other people. There is video of that incident. Poice say when they arrived on the scene, he was carrying a knife and frying pan. An offer tried to use nonlethal force to stop him but that didnt work. Mr. Estrada ran directly at the first officer with the knife in his right hand and frying pan in the left hand. The second officer then discharged his firearm at mr. Estrada. Mr. Estrada fell to the sidewalk and dropped the frying pan but didnt drop the knife. Ea strada is alive with life threatening injuries. We spoke with San Francisco district attorney. We asked him about his decision to file manslaughter charges against a former officer in a deadly shooting. That when Police Officers violate the law, they will be held accountable. Keep in mind, this is the first time an on duty officer has faced a homicide charge in San Francisco. That officer was on the job for only four days. Community and Business Leaders in oakland came together today with a demand that the city take action to address race and getter disparities. Oakland hired a company to look into inequality in city contracting. That study was given to the city in february. They came together to demand the findings be released and as Lauren Taylor spoke, he got word the city will release the research.
