The District Attorney knows people will be watching and probably calling her office even more now with complaints that maybe businesses are not following the rules or citizens out on the street. Shes expecting a lot of calls to her office. She set up a task force that will be investigating those calls and looking into them and checking in and seeing if theyre credible. If they are, the businesses can be fined. She knows businesses are struggling, so her office is saying fining the businesses would be a last resort. We know businesses are struggling now. Were trying to ensure the public is protected and were following our Public Health experts and our own Health Officer to ensure that the public and businesses understand the rules and how we can educate them on the importance of following them. Many of them had plans in place but that tier rollback a few days ago threw them for a loop when it comes to bringing students back into the classroom and when that will happen. Some schools that had reopened, theyll be allowed to operate with inperson classes but others have to suspend plans altogether. Were talking about drik distr like piedmont unified which planned to open the first week of december. Randall booker says distanced learning has been wearing down on their students for months now. He wishes they could bring students back, but he said it is alameda countys decision to keep the schools closed. This is 100 a county decision. We were slated to return, testing for all staff, prescreening for students and staff, lots of logistical information about entrance and egress. Also having many students struggling socially and emotionally. In Contra Costa County, month diablos unified School Districts plans are also up in the air. They were set to reopen january 11th with a hybrid model of virtual and classroom learning bringing back kindergarten, first grade, sixth grade and ninth grade at first, then four more grades the two following weeks. With this being a hybrid model families who did have safety concerns about sending their children back to school can opt out of that and continue with Virtual Learning. Its unclear if that timetable of january 11th still holds can Contra Costa County sliding back to the most restrictive purple tier. The extended forecast is looking very dry and pretty close to average. You can see some moisture on the water vapor. Weve got really thick fog, less than a quartermile visibility up in the north bay through 9 00 this morning. Theres other areas of fog also. I want to show you those now, especially the east bay and as we take a look at our east bay hills camera, it is definitely moving from the east bay valleys into the bay itself. Thats where it will continue to spread heading through the morning commute. Expect that fog to be around. Now the visibility will increase after 9 00.
