The deeper we get into the morning commute the less likely youll run into that. We have patches of drizzle and light rain to contend with. A bit of fog out there as we try to keep things damp. That will transition after the morning commute into a few waves of showers that should be over around 3 00, 4 00. The clouds may open just right before the sun sets, but tonight tule fog will be arriving. The morning commute will be wetter than the evening commute. Kind of the reverse of what we had yesterday. Stores are running out of toilet paper and paper towels. Experts say we do not need to worry about a supply problem. Amy hollyfield is live in san leandro with more on this. Good morning. Good morning. Were watching as big trucks pull into this costco. They are restocking shelves right now. The best time to shop were told if you are looking for toilet paper or paper towels is in the morning. Late in the day this is what we found. This is what the shelves looked like. Theyre pretty empty. Its not just one store. We found this was the case at target, costco, safeway, all of them dealing with the same issue. Some stores are limiting how many packages customers can buy. But the shelves are still clearing out by the end of the day. Clerks are reassuring customers that more will arrive. They said that they do get toilet paper every day, you just have to come earlier in the day to get some. The California Grocers Association says theres no need to worry. Stores will not close. And they do get daily shipments of supplies. Clerks say they are noticing that people are now trying to limit their number of trips to the store, so theyre noticing everyone is buying large quantities so they can spend less time at the store and more time at home. This costco opens at 9 30 this morning, so again, morning is a good time to get those supplies if you need them. Reporting live from san leandro, amy hollyfield, abc7 news. Thank you. Lucera says results are available in 30 minutes. People will need a prescription to get the test. Initially tests will be available in california and florida. The kit includes a sterile swab, sample vile, a test unit and a plastic disposable bag. The results will be shown on the test units lightup display that shows whether a person is positive or negative for covid19. We had the technology to do this for many, many months. So im happy to see the fda approving this. The problem now is we dont know how many tests will be available, how long it will take to get the tests out there. And obviously still going to require a prip shun. Prescription. I want to see a lot more home tests. According to the companys website it will cost less than 50,000. Thank you. All right. Thank you. This morning covid19 cases are going up in all 50 states. More than 2 million americans have tested positive so far this month making november the worst month yet of this pandemic. Jobina is at the live desk with how hospitals are coping with all of this. The covid19 tracking project reports that more than 77,000 people are currently hospitalized with the virus. Many hospitals are at 100 capacity with new cases breaking records every day. More states and cities are imposing restrictions, but at least a dozen starts are resisting mask mandates. We need to turn things around over the next few months or else we risk hospitals to turn patients away. Were also seeing a lot of people getting tested because they want to have license to go socialize with each other. And unfortunately that is not the phase of the pandemic that we are in right now. Testing sites across the country are also overwhelmed. The u. S. Has reported more than 150,000 newly diagnosed infections for five days in a row. Kumasi . Thank you. Nicholas molage is staying positive rationing those 45 minutes a day to help his students even if it means he has to take a mental break two to three days after. California could adopt strict new workplace standards to protect employees from covid19. Tomorrow cal osha will vote on the new emergency regulations. If passed employers would be required to identify and notify all workers exposed to positive cases within one business day. Also they would be required to mandate and enforce the wearing of face coverings in the workplace, implement safety measures, employer provided housing, transportation and free testing to employees in the event of positive cases in the workplace. If this is approved, this could go into effect as early as november 30th. Going bag back to the class in San Francisco even as we see a spike in covid cases. There are still a lot of question marks about how or even if this can proceed. The abc7 reporter Julian Glover is live with the vote and the remaining obstacles. Juli julian . Lots of questions here. Some San Francisco unified students could be back learning inside of the classroom as early as january 25th. The board unanimously voted in favor of that timeline in a meeting on tuesday night. Now the first batch of students to return would be preschool, kindergarten and first graders. Students having the toughest time learning remotely, those with moderate to severe disabilities would also be in the first group. About 10,000 students in the first phase. So much still needs to be figured out like how many parents are in favor of sending students back to learning in person versus those preferring virtual learning. The district plans to send out a survey to parents to hear what they have to say. We have students who cannot tolerate Wearing Masks and they cannot keep them on their face because of sensory differences. Some of our students cannot maintain social distancing and requires a staff member to be by their side at all times for various reasons. Some parents and teachers are concerned about safety, understandably so. Another challenge, sfusd has to reach an agreement with teachers and staff about working conditions and the district is also in the process of inspecting each school to determine if theres proper ventilation in place and planning social distancing protocols. So much still up in the air. San francisco just rolled back to the red tier and restricted additional activities just days ago and before any of this is a reality, county Health Officials would have to sign off on the districts reopening plan before those students would return on january 25th. Then if all goes well there additional students could be phased back into the classroom after that january 25th date. For now reporting live this morning, Julian Glover, abc7 news. Thank you.
