So there is a windchill out there. Check out the temperature in santa rosa, it feels like 24 degrees. Youll definitely want to cover exposed skin if you can. Were not used to those temperatures. Our bodies have not acclimated to it just quite yet. Its been the flip of a switch over the weekend. Today will be calmer than yesterday with high clouds, sunshine, temperatures at 55 in Half Moon Bay and 61 in vallejo and santa rosa. Its really filling the air here. We noticed it as soon as we pulled into town, but this looks worse than it is. Check out this video of what firefighters saw when they arrived at 10 45 last night. This is happening at the Georgia Pacific company on alvarado street in san leandro. The building is not on fire. Were told its boxes that the company manufacturers. They had pallets of them, they caught fire. They make those vegetable boxes, the ones that are waxy on the inside, large, thick, and theyre expected to burn all day. We have some video of what people saw even from about a quarter mile away. This put off some large flames and it is still generating a lot of smoke. And they were very worried that the wind would carry embers and start other fires. Firefighters told us when they got here last night it was very windy. Its calmed down now. We dont see active fire right now. We just see a lot of smoke. No injuries have been reported. No structure damage, no vehicles have burned just those boxes. Kind of incredible when you see how large the fire was. They dont know the cause at this time. They do expect this to burn all day. They do expect to be out here all day long.
