We are looking at the chilly temperatures, the rain not with us, you can see all the clear sky behind me, the golden gate bridge, and as we look at live doppler 7 its offshore the shower activity and in the mountains our winter storm warning and storm advisory through 4 00 this afternoon. Cold air coming down from the north, it will bring some frosty conditions tonight, when the wind backs off, but right now, it is breezy out there. You can see the white caps there, 51 in oakland. Were looking at that camera shaking on top of mt. Tam, 45 santa rosa, 47 in livermore. From our exploratorium camera it is clear and cold. Wind advisories for upper elevations. Frost advisory, the valleys of the north bay, early tomorrow morning, and then looking at the rain returning for the end of the week, and it looks pretty substantial, as we get towards the end of the weekend, so there is the shower activity just sweeping by, but as we get to the end of the day here, notice that late in the day, east bay hills, south bay hills, maybe a couple of sprinkles, a couple hundredths for you. Unfortunately thats all we can muster. Its more about the wind today, 25 to 35mileanhour winds and as we go through the afternoon, it will get a little lighter and pick up again throughout the rest of the day. These are offshore winds, theyre dry winds, even though its cold out there. Were still concerned about fire danger, and were also talking about temperatures well below average. So upper 50s to low 60s is about all we can manage today, 55 half moon bay. We should be in the mid60s downtown, about 58 in San Francisco and here is a look at our frost advisory, so rower in park, petaluma, santa rosa, n a napa, through san rafael, overnight lows in the 30s so try to bring in those plants. Well see cold mornings for the next several mornings but not as cold and looking at our afternoons with our temperatures modifying to where they should be this time of year in the mid60s. So the accuweather sevenday forecast highlighting the chilly start today, with the windy conditions for everyone, chance of an isolated shower mainly into the south of us down through monterey and carmel and looking at the cold mornings, the milder afternoons by late thursday into friday, just some scattered light showers but into next weekend, the possibility of rain is looking better, looking more widespread with mountain snow. Jovina . Thank you so much, lisa. We have a cool story here. From dealing drugs as a teen in San Francisco and eventually being on the fbis wanted list, he served a lengthy prison sentence and now hes serving his community by transforming the same San Francisco blocks he once stood on. Malik wade is changing the city for the better. This morning abc 7 News Reporter Julian Glover introduces us to our latest speaker in our abc 7 for the better series. If it werent for the pandemic youd find malik wade inside of San Francisco Juvenile Hall monday through friday working to keep young men in the bay area from making the wrong choices once they get out. The cycle of recidivism is one malik knows well, and thats why its the mission of his organization, Scholastic Interest Group to break that cycle one young man at a time. Here he is, in his own words. The young guys i work with, Juvenile Hall, a lot of them have never had a man tell them they love them before. A the love the young guys in there, i hug them, i tell them i love them and i care about them and they know i care. My name is malik wade. Born and raised here in beautiful San Francisco, california. You know, im born out of what i consider to be a struggle, 50yearold crack dealer being 15yearold crack dealer, 14 years in federal prison, the paradigm shift that took place while i was in prison, me getting out, doing the work that im doing now as far as working with atrisk youth but the exercise was just a way for me to engage intellectually. Now that i have you engaged intellectually, i can say read this autobiography of malcolm x, read this article in the investors business daily, because ive developed a bond with you through physical exercise. So thats one of the main techniques that i use to this day, is physical exercise. Reporter what is it about you that makes the guys, makes the young people that you work with trust you, buy into the program, buy into the system . The sort of ironic that my very, very colorful and eventful background gives me immediate credence with them, and once they hear that, they may look at me like right now, like the way i dress sometimes they may think im a substitute teacher, or counselor or principal but once i Start Talking and i tell them what my experience is, most of the time they open up, and theyll listen. Im just in college right now, i go to school at Stony Brook University in new york, just grinding and playing football, getting my degree in sociology. Malik is kind of like a father figure in my life, hes a mentor, somebody if im going through adversity, i can call, talk to him. Hell give me his opinion on the situation and what he believes i should do, what i shouldnt do and hes just somebody that means just a lot to me, within my process of life and growing, becoming a man. Reporter what does that mean to you, when you see guys branching out and going all across the country, following their dreams . Its a blessing, when you see young people and i see young people often in San Francisco and theyll run up to me and hug me, hey, man, i work at u. P. S. Now, i got a job, hey, i just enrolled in San Francisco state. Im going to city college, or im in job corps and doing good, thank you. Thats priceless to me. Malik lives by the phrase, each one teach one, and while everyone may not have the time or the passion to do the tough work he does, malik believes if each of us committed to changing the life of just one young person in need of guidance, we could change our community for the better.
