Snow wreaked havoc on roads in minnesota. State Police Reported nearly 500 crashes and more than 600 vehicle spinouts. At least eight inches fell in some areas. It could end up being the largest ever october snowfall in state history. It could end up being the largest ever october snowfall in state history. Five people on a camping trip in new mexico were saved from a wildfire when one of them had to use the restroom. Ryan says he saw the flames after leaving his tent saturday night and alerted his companions. They scrambled to leave the area but a giant tree in the road blocked their escape. At that point, hollett, sensing the worse, he called his wife. I think anybody who feels like theyre about to go through something life or death would give anything for that chance to be able to say, hey, i love you, that one last time. They did manage to move that tree and a number of others to make it out safely. Turning to the battle against the coronavirus and some startling new numbers amid a new study finding that patients hospitalized with covid19 are far more likely to die than if theyd been hospitalized with the flu. I spoke with dr. Ali. Lets start with a new study that found Covid Patients are up to five times more likely to die than people with the flu. What do you make of those numbers . We always hear that the flu is more deadly than covid. Its just not. Covid doesnt only affect the lungs. It affects multiple organs. Covid is just a totally different disease from the flu. Its definitely deadlier. This study really, you know, proves it. This really got our attention. According to the cdc, the u. S. Has seen about 300,000 more deaths than usual this year and not just from covid. Hispanic communities have been especially hit hard. Whats to blame there . Not directly from the Covid Infection itself but in due part to the Covid Infection. A lot of patients were not able to see their doctors regularly. Cancer treatments were halted. These minority groups are more affected because they have preexisting conditions. They werent able to have access to their physicians. A lot of the local Community HealthCenters Closed down. Telemedicine, although it does work, a lot of these communities simply dont have access. Lets talk about vaccines. A new poll finds that only 27 of people say they would definitely get a Covid Vaccine even if its approved by the fda. What are your thoughts on that number and what can be done to inspire more confidence . Well, thats only one poll. I do hope people are going to have more confidence. The trials that are going on, especially the ones that are being held by the nih, are undergoing rigorous safety protocols. I think people should be more confident in the vaccine. We need at least 80 to 90 of the population to be vaccinated to have some sort of ending this pandemic, ending the transmission. Its not a matter of if but when theres a vaccine. If theres a vaccine, nobody takes it that could be problematic. Were already seeing Governor Cuomo outline a draft of how he would like the vaccine to roll out, starting with essential workers, Health Care Workers and those that are high risk, then going to lower risk essential workers and then the general population. Coming up, the love story we all need to hear. How molly and ryan found each other while being treated for the same type of cancer and then fell in love. Eing treated for the same type of cancer and then fell in love. Dr. Dto do a lot right now. That were asking americans so were asking everyone to be selfless for others so that we can protect those who are most susceptible to this virus. Dr. Jerome adams a question i often get asked is, why should young people care about the spread of coronavirus . Well we know that people with underlying medical conditions over the age of 60 are at highest risk, but theyve got to get it from somebody. Dr. Anthony fauci social distancing is really physical separation of people. Dr. Deborah birx its what we refer to when we ask people to stay at least six feet apart. Dr. Anthony fauci not going to bars, not going to restaurants, not going to theaters where there are a lot of people. It all just means physical separation so you have a space between you and others who might actually be infected or infect you. Dr. Jerome adams we all have a role to play in preventing persontoperson spread of this disease which can be deadly for vulnerable groups. For more information on how you can social distance please go to coronavirus. Gov its cruel its cruel sometimes, but it might just save your life thats the power of love welcome back. This morning were hearing the story of one couple whose newfound love gave each of them the strength to overcome one of the deadliest forms of cancer. Will ganss has more. A couple battling the same type of cancer at the same time in the same hospital in philadelphia first connected as a support system for one another. But then they soon realized that that connection was something even more special. In some ways molly and ryan are a classic boy meets girl story. I ended up finding his instagram and reaching out. We were not really looking for a relationship. It wasnt romantic at all at first. But their story is far from ordinary. Its really like from one cancer fighter to another just a support system. It kind of ended up blossoming from there. Just last year molly and ryan diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. A cancer affecting bone marrow and blood. Molly and ryan, both collegiate athletes at the time, supporting each other through treatment just as friends. And then mom got involved. Mom was looking through my instagram and wow shes really pretty. I had to agree with that. He invited me to a basketball game. I feel like kind of after that it made a little switch like i kind of like him and he kind of likes me and lets see where this could go, you know . Fast forward to this spring where ryan making things official before his bone marrow transplant. I was in isolation so i wasnt allowed to have anybody in. She held up a sign outside, do you see me . I saw her. She had happy transplant day on her sign. Their connection undeniable. It makes things easier because you dont have a lot of explaining to do. Molly and ryan falling for each other for completely different reasons. Shes just a straight shooter. Shes really up front with you. He always puts me first and he cares about me. Hes just like an amazing guy. Mollys tweet about how they met racking up nearly 2 million likes in just days. Why is everybody falling in love with your love story . It kind of comes when you least expect it, you know. And just be open to whatever and try to find the good in the things that may not seem as good, because theres always a Little Something and it will hit you when you least expect it. Theres always a Little Something. Both ryan and molly tell me they are feeling great these days and theyre both able to be off of most of their medicines. Theyre getting back into the swing of school and sports and they visit each other almost every weekend. Really, will . Really . This early in the morning you have me ugly crying. I am. That was the most beautiful story ive ever heard ever. It was something that you would think would come out of hollywood but this is real life. It gives me walk to remember vibes. I said this is going to be a movie one day. Are you guys cool with that . Molly was like were not there yet. Lets cross that bridge a long time from now.
